1) Before 1918 no women were allowed to vote in parliamentary elections in the UK. For solving this problem
women began protesting saying "Deeds not words.

2) The members of the Women's social and Political Union determined acts and carried on their movement in the
streets shouting "Deeds not Words". Many of them were from the middle class and were educated. Their will was
getting the same rights as men.Many members were jailed for these actions.In protest to being imprisoned some of
them undertook hunger strikes.The shocked British society expressed sympathy for the protestors who
demonstrated a new way of fighting for women's want.The struggle lasted many years.
