Subject: Assistant and Pulsar2 PC battery.

The Optikon equipment in the subject are equipped with an internal rechargeable battery intended to
power Real Time Clock and to maintain configuration data in the Computer Board while the system
is off.
If the equipment is not used for long time (more than 3 months), the battery discharges partially and
it may cause the equipment not to start normal operation at power on (screen remains black or
“CMOS battery low” message).
When receiving the equipment, at installation or if the equipment is not used for long time,
plug it in the mains, switch on and keep it powered for, at the least, 12 hours to allow full
battery recharge.
After battery recharge, switch the equipment off and then on again.
If normal operation does not start properly at power on and the CMOS error message (“press F1 to
continue” still appears), the BIOS setup must be modified/restored.
The actual procedure to modify the BIOS depends on the model of PC Board installed in the
equipment.
The PC Board model installed appears at the top of the screen during the boot / memory test
sequence.
