S10 and K11- Describe the main office and accounting systems relevant to your job role, and
what are the main transaction processes you are using these systems for.
Introduction to you
Include your name, where you work, how long you have worked there, your current job role, has this
changed since you first joined, how is your work monitored – do you have regular meetings with your
boss, what new tasks do you do now that you could not do before you joined the company, what
financial software packages you use eg microsoft excel, Sage, Zero, do you use any other software.
How does digital financial and accounting packages help you in your job (screen shots for evidence)

Give examples’ of activities you complete in your organisation, suggestions for this could cover:

- Recording Financial Transactions


- Generating Financial Documents
- Populating the Books of Prime Entry
- Posting to Ledger Accounts
- Producing a Trial Balance
You can use a document flow chart to illustrate this

What are the key processes that take place between your organisation and your customers? And your
suppliers?

 Eg – production of sales orders to allign with payment terms


 Eg – purchase orders revieved, agree payment terms

K10 - Describe and understand the business strategy that meets the needs of the stakeholders

- State your company’s mission, vision and values (or equivalent)


- Identify your organisation’s stakeholders, both internal and external
- Describe the needs of your organisation’s stakeholders
- Describe the business strategy which meets the above
- Eg – sustanability, reducing carbon footprint, wast paper, water etc to meet Government
targets

You could refer to your organisations website or discuss with a more senior member of your team.

Provide examples of how you communicate with your stakeholders and what information you are
communicating with them.

 Eg – customers, suppliers, financial institutions, HMRC, sharholders etc

Who does the accounts department in your organisation provide information to and why? Who is the
accounts department receiving information from and why? Eg – mangers, to enable decision making,
planning and control. Changes in payment terms will impact on cash flow.

What security measures are in place in organisation that protects the information which you are
dealing with on a day to day basis, and why is the protection needed? (think about cyber security,
backing up data)

K10 & K11 - Describe how the role of accountancy fits into the wider organisation and sector
and how it helps the business to achieve its objectives
- Include your Organisational structure here, with narrative around the flow of information
between the departments

- Provide information on the links that exist between departments, in particular between the
accounting function and other functions within the business. How do you link in with these?
Eg – do you have separate sales and purchase departments?

- Identify and discuss the sector within which your organisation operates, eg service provider,
manaufacturer

- Describe how your role and responsibilities are affected by the sector within which you work

From the information you have provided, give a brief explanation on how your role helps the
organisation achieve its goals.

1. Explain why you have chosen a career in accountancy?

Think about the qualities you may have for example, good at problem solving, like numbers, are the prospects
good? can you make a career from being an accountant? Flexibility and self employed

2. What are your long term career plans?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? What are you going to do that will enable you to achieve your
goals?

3. Why do you feel studying towards completing your apprenticeship will benefit your employer?

Think about what the employer gains from you completing your apprenticeship – eg soft skills, knowledge &
skills in accounting, an understanding of ethical behaviour

4. Anything that you do outside of work that may aid your long-term career plan?

Think about any sporting teams that you may play for, as this demonstrates that you are used to working
in a team. This may help you deal with conflict. Socialising with friends could mean you come into contact
with new people which could help with confidence. Eg Volunteering

5. The reason why you believe it is important that you take ownership of your studying (to help you
achieve your expected goals etc)?

Think about how much extra work you need to put in. The AAT is a professional qualification, keep your

Study plan and to-do-list

B3 - Create a homework study plan detailing when you will study towards your qualification

Include what study you will do each week of learning, i.e. 1 hour a night, weekends etc, also
include if you complete extra revision before exams. The study plan can be completed in a
paper diary, electronic diary or in an excel table. Photocopies or screenshots would need to
be shown as evidence.

B3 - Create a to-do list for a standard day at work in your role

This can be completed in a paper diary, electronic diary or handwritten. Photocopies or


screenshots would need to be shown as evidence. Once all the tasks have been completed
and you have copied the evidence ask your manager to write a statement on the evidence that
says he/she confirms that you have completed all of the tasks set (with deadlines) and ask
them to sign and date.
