Special Author’s note:

When updating the original Triangle Sourcebook to the Next Generation Era, a number of
changes were made to the several planet names and locations, to create a more logical and
realistic system and will be described under the section Stellar Cartography. While the original
authors had very little information at the time, in the thirty-five years that have passed since then
there has been seven new Star Trek television series and six new movies creating a wealth of
information, which thankfully the good folks who run Memory Alpha have been cataloging.
Original Sourcebook
The original Triangle Sector Sourcebook and Campaign book was published by FASA in 1985,
and the in-game timeline is set between 2263 and 2285. This sourcebook is set in 2380, one year
after the events of Star Trek Nemesis and ninety-five years after the original setting. Settings,
events, and characters take place prior to the events of the Star Trek: Picard series, including the
destruction of Romulus, in 2387. GM’s will have enough information to push the timeline
forward as much as they wish or pull back to include the Dominion War events.
Stardates
Regarding Stardates; as there is much debate regarding this, the author has simplified it using the
writer’s guide for the Star Trek: The Next Generation series. “A Stardate is a five-digit number
followed by a decimal point and one more digit. Example: "41254.7." The first two digits of the
Stardate are always "41." The 4 stands for 24th century, the 1 indicates first season. The
additional three leading digits will progress unevenly during the course of the season from 000 to
999. The digit following the decimal point is generally regarded as a day counter.” As such, the
beginning date of the Triangle Campaign is set at the beginning of 2380, fifteen years after the
“Encounter at Farpoint” making the Stardate as 415001.1 “Forty-one fifty zero one point one”.

The Triangle Sector is a region of space situated between the United Federation of Planets, The
Klingon Empire and the Romulan Star Empire. A buffer zone between the three great powers, it
is the home to alliances, independent worlds, criminal factions, and protectorate planets, and
filled with mercantile princes, pirate warlords, black market smugglers, spies, rogues and heroes.
In the 23rd century the sector was a politically unstable morass. Now as the 24th century starts to
draw to a close, the Alpha and Beta Quadrant is trying to heal after a series of destructive wars.
The Triangle is now once again a focus of the Federation.

The history of the Triangle Sector goes back to the early 21st century. Mostly unexplored the first
major conflicts began between early Klingon and Romulan factions. After several bloody
engagements, the two governments settled into a form of a stalemate, with varied control over a
portion of the planets. By the 22nd century Terrans from Earth began to explore the sector, which
brought them into conflict with the Romulans and precipitated the Earth Romulan War. The
conflict galvanized Earth and its allies to form the United Federation of Planets and opened a
second influx of explorers and colonists to the region. By the 23rd century, the region of space
was officially referred to as the Triangle Sector and remained a hot bed of conflict and intrigue
for decades. The middle half of the 24th century appeared to have finally brought peace to the
turbulent region until the vast and destructive Dominion War changed the political and economic
landscapes once again.
It has been five years since the Dominion War in the Alpha Quadrant. The major political
factions are all still in a state of rebuilding in one form or another. Cardassia is slowly rebuilding
after losing almost a quarter of their population on their home planet, their entire political system
has suffered massive damage as well as the infrastructure of their colony planets. The Klingon
Empire is also rebuilding after the loss of many ships but have gained key systems from
Cardassia. The Romulan Star Empire’s Fleet was all but depleted and they are currently reeling
from the recent Reman coup attempt in the previous year. The Federation is also slowly
rebuilding and has moved forward with a redesigned Starfleet in order to respond to external
threats. But the wounds are still deep. There are many within the Federation who believe that the
exploration side of Starfleet has caused more dangers than it should and have been pushing for it
to become a more stabilizing organization, including more defensive initiatives and diplomatic
missions.
The sector that the players will operate in is a nonaligned area of space called “The Triangle
Sector.” This region is a neutral zone no man’s land between the three points of the Federation,
the Klingon and the Romulan zones. It is home to over a hundred habitable worlds. Orion and
Naussican bands have operated in this area for centuries and it can be a haven for smugglers and
criminals on the run, as much as a home for those who do not wish to be within the confines of
the Federation, Klingon, or Romulan influences. Technically a legally ambiguous zone there are
both Federation and Klingon protectorate planets within and it is still often patrolled by Klingon
and Federation ships in agreement. The Romulans are less overt in their actions in the Triangle
but they are active.

Twenty First Century Events

2020 Early Romulan settlements begin in the Triangle Sector.
2041 the Romulan/Klingon War. Fought predominantly in the Triangle. Most of the Romulan
settlements were destroyed.
2042 The Imperial Klingon States are established in the Sector.
Twenty Second Century Events
2156-2160 Earth Romulan War. Fighting spills out into the upper section of the Triangle
Sector.
2161 The United Federation of Planets is formally founded.
2171 Baker Family forms the first lose association of planets, the Association of Outer Free
Worlds.
Twenty Third Century Events
2256 – 2257 The Federation Klingon War is fought along the borders and eventually
spills into the Triangle Sector. The Orion Mercantile Association and the Association of Outer
Free Worlds both starts providing resources to both sides of the conflict. By early 2257 they ally
fully with the Federation.
2257 Fleet Admiral Kamato flees the Klingon Empire after a failed coup and takes control
of the Imperial Klingon States planets in the Triangle Sector.
2162 Pioneers and colonists, mostly human enter the Triangle Sector.
2265 Starfleet survey ship, USS Converse discovers the Teenaxi colony on Foronovo.
2267 Vrax Accords signed by Praetor Vrax of the Romulan Star Empire and Chancellor
L’Rell of the Klingon Empire, allowing for an exchange of technology and information.
2279 The Geisling Uprising, a conflict between the human inhabitants of Geisling, backed
by mercenaries from various planets including Deerlam, Remfry, and the Outer Free Worlds
against the Romulan garrison in control of the planet. An event that almost plunged the entire
Triangle into war. The Federation and Klingon governments intervened and produced a truce
which resulted in the Romulans abandoning their claims on Geisling.
2293 The Khitomer Accords are signed between the Klingon Empire and the Federation.
This causes an escalation in tensions with the Federation and the Romulan Star Empire. In an act
of defiance of the Klingon Empire, the Imperial Klingon States, rename themselves as the Free
Klingon States severing nearly all ties officially with the Klingon High Council.
2299 Association of Outer Free Worlds Civil War. The Association of Outer Free Worlds
devolve into open warfare between the Baker Family and a coalition of political opponents. The
planets fought amongst themselves for six months resulting in the end of the Baker Dynasty and
the rise of the Mantiev Coalition. Several planets are renamed in the wake of the war.
Twenty Fourth Century Events
2300 The Romulans poison and kill 280 Klingon operatives on the planet Matarra III. The
Klingons abandon the base and it is claimed a year later by colonists from nearby Penchan.
2301 The former internment camp turned colony of humans and Romulans on the planet of
Pasaden is made public to the shock of the Federation.
6|Page

2311 The Tomed Incident; a confrontation between the United Federation of Planets and the
Romulan Star Empire that cost thousands of lives. The incident led to the signing of the Treaty of
Algeron, which banned Federation research into or use of any cloaking device, and led to the
withdrawal of the Romulan government from interstellar affairs until 2364.
2315 The Federation and the Romulan Empire complete their last diplomatic event when they
sign a treaty that grants five worlds inside the Triangle Sector protection under the Federation.
2329 Bajoran diaspora begins. Fleeing the occupation of the Bajoran system by the
Cardassian Empire, many Bajorans have made their way to the Triangle Sector to establish a
colony on the planet Selenar in the Mantiev Coalition.
2365 The Federation has first contact with the Borg from the Delta Quadrant.
2366 The Federation begins work on synthetic lifeform research, using what they know of
the android officer Data.
2367 Starfleet suffers a defeat and the loss of forty ships against the Borg at the Battle of
Wolf 359.
2370 M Series androids from Mudd’s World research stolen by Orions makes its way to the
Triangle Sector and the first generation of android become available to those who can afford it.
2373 to 2375 The Dominion War ravages the Alpha Quadrant. Criminal activities,
most notably organized by the Orion Factions rises across the entire Triangle Sector.
2375 Chancellor Gowron is killed in combat by Worf son of Mogh. The Chancellorship is
bestowed upon Martok.
2379 The Romulan Star Empire is taken over by Praetor Shinzon as the head of a Reman
coup d'état. After a false peace offer to the Federation, Shinzon is killed in his attempt to wipe
out all life on Earth with thalaron radiation. Shortly after, the Federation begins talks with the
new Romulan government.
2380 Starfleet creates Task Force 21 to monitor and patrol the Triangle Sector for
Federation interests. An attempted coup led by General Kroziz of the Klingon Empire is
launched. After the coup falters, Kroziz joins the Klingon Free States and takes the mantle of
Overlord of the KFS from his predecessor Kivat.

Author’s Note: Major changes to Stellar Cartography was implemented to create a more
logical sector in relation to the major factions at play. While the planets names may have
changed the relative position on the maps and the original planetary descriptions remain mostly
unaffected.
The largest changes are the three groupings of planets that are shown on the original map.
The Following Changes Are:
The original Imperial Klingon States are now the Federation Protectorate Planets.
The original Mantiev Colonies are now the Klingon Free States.
The original Baker’s Dozen is now the Mantiev Coalition.
These changes mark a fundamental shift from how the politics played in the original system to a
more organic and decidedly consequences heavy system.

The Triangle Sector itself is the large delta of space between the three great governments of the
Alpha Quadrant. For stellar cartography use, the sector is divided into an upper and lower region
with the Federation border at the top of maps. The sector is 48 parsecs from the Federation
border to the tip, and 30 parsecs at its widest point in the upper section consisting of four major
collections of aligned planets and dozens of independent habitable worlds, asteroid fields and
moons. The upper region includes the Mantiev Coalition, the Federation Protectorate Planets,
and the Orion Mercantile Association. The lower region contains the most unaligned planets and
the Klingon Free States. As of 2380, four hundred and eighty-seven stars have been cataloged,
one hundred and twenty of which are habitable star systems.
8|Page

Triangle Sector Upper Region

The political landscape of the upper region of the Triangle is the most complex in the region.
Here the Federation has its strongest influence, not only because of its border but also because of
the Federation Protectorate Planets Zone. The Starfleet’s presence is nearly everywhere amongst
the independent worlds that have not aligned with any major powers. Conversely both the
Romulan and the Klingon governments are less omnipresent unless when dealing with the
Federation itself. The Orion Mercantile holds its greatest sway here as well, based out of their
area of space dominated by their four trade and industrial planets The largest power in the
Triangle is in fact the Mantiev Coalition, their collective influence dominates most of the
Triangle with trade agreements reaching all the way to the very “bottom” of the sector. The only
individual planet with considerable power and influence in the Triangle is Comstock. From there
the Kirkbride corporation maintains numerous trade agreements and presents the largest
individual law enforcement force, Sentinel Services.
9|Page

Triangle Sector Lower Region

The lower region of the Triangle Sector is often considered to be wilder than the upper region.
Due to the closer proximity of the Klingon and Romulan borders, this region has had a far more
violent history. The Klingon Free States only adds to the tension as they have been used by both
the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Star Empire to antagonize the other. The Klingon Free
States have managed to survive and even thrive in the Triangle due to their close proximity to the
Romulans. Rogues and pirates have often found refuge amongst the confusion created by the
ever-shifting politics in this region. Overall, the Federations presence is scare and its influence is
virtually nil.
10 | P a g e

The majority of the higher intelligent species that populate the Triangle sector are humanoid.
Species make up is dependent on a number of factors, primarily of which is the dominant
political/geographical locations. The following is a general over view of the more prevalent
species one encounters in the Triangle Sector. Percentages of population by species are hard to
determine mostly due to independent planets willingness or capabilities to determine such things.

Andorian
Andorians are a blue skinned humanoid race that is one of the
founding members of the Federation. Martial in culture they also have
an extra set of antennae on their heads, which aid in balance. This
added appendage allows them to move nimbly in even the most
difficult of places.

Android
While technically not a species per se, androids are not uncommon in the
Triangle Sector. These robotic artificially intelligent beings are not as
advanced as the Soong Android Series, like former Commander Data of
Starfleet. The M Series Androids are based off on ancient Andromeda
Galaxy that were found on a K Class Planet in 2268. A rogue merchant
and thief named Harcourt Mudd activated them before Starfleet
intervened. The planet was visited again in the 2360s and the replicating
technology for the androids was taken. The M Series are logic-based
androids whose physical appearance is specifically designed to not appear
human. They are mostly used as administrative aid and services capacity.

Bajoran
When the Cardassian invasion of Bajoran space, a number of these
species underwent a great diaspora with many settling in the
Triangle Sector. Often considered a variant of the Human Sapient
species, Barjorans share many of the same key genetic traits.
11 | P a g e

Denobulan
A humanoid species, they have a complex physiology that
includes subdermal ridges, elongated tongues, and broad facial
muscles that allowed them to enlarge their faces. Known for their
considerable patience, Denobulans also have complex marriage
cultures with group wives/husbands and large families.

Duroj
The Duroj are a Ursonoid species, averaging two and half meters in height,
with dense muscle strength and a light fur, ranging in color from white to
brown to black. The Duroj are known for being able to operate in harsh
conditions, often forming mining settlements on various worlds.

Edosian
The Edosians are a three armed/three-legged humanoid species. They
are gifted navigators and pilots, exceling in spatial mathematics.
They first came to the Triangle Sector serving in Starfleet, however
over the years, many of them have come to stay in the sector and
work as pilots.

Ferengi
The Ferengi are a short statured humanoid species from the Alpha
Quadrant. They are marked by large craniums and pronounced
earlobes which a major erogenous area for them. While not known
for their courage, Ferengi can be fierce combatants, but their main
cultural norms are that of commerce and avarice.
12 | P a g e

Human
While not all Terrans are immediately from Earth, the human is one
of the most common sapient species. Theories abound on why that
is, regardless the human sapiens species type can be found with
some minor variations throughout the galaxy. Humans average
around two meters in height and have wide range of skin colors and
shapes, from thin to obese. Many other species mistakenly believe
that their bland genetic structure makes them an unremarkable
species, but over generations that has proven to be a falsehood.
Humans are considered the most adaptable species in the galaxy.

Jem’Hadar
The Jem’Hadar are a reptilian based humanoid species native to the
Gamma Quadrant. They are genetically engineered species
designed to act as shock troopers for the Dominion. The Founders
kept control of them by using a congenital addicition to the drug
ketracel-white. After the Dominion War nearly all of the
Jem’Hadar troops pulled back to the Gamma Quadrant, but a few
remained. There are at least two full troops in the employ of Baron
Iblis on Nimrod.

Jentek
The Jentek are a former slave race that was genetically created by
their overlords the Trions. They are a hardy race designed for
technical and security work. Jentek are nongender/asexual creatures
who reproduce by a form of cloning in special vats. Their genetic
makeup allows them to mature at a faster rate, reaching maturity
within eight years at which point their cellular growth slows to a more
normal rate. The upper torso of Jentek is humanoid in construction
with two arms, a head and a thorax. The skin color of the upper body
has the greatest color range from blue to red to yellow. The lower half
is serpentine roughly two meters in length with four bone blades at
the tip. The lower half skin color ranges from black to charcoal grey
to green
13 | P a g e

Klingon
Klingons are a humanoid species originating from the plane Qo’noS.
They have maintained a warrior culture for millennia and their
aggressive nature has made them an interstellar power to be respected
and feared. They are often over two meters in heigh with darker skin
tones and heavy cranial ridges

Nausicaan
Large muscular humanoids, Nausicaans generally surpass two meters
in height. Their skin tones range from an ashen grey to a brown and
are distinguished by prominent bone structures due to their high bone
density. Short sharp tusks protrude from either side of their mouths.
Highly aggressive, they have made a name for themselves as pirates
and mercenaries throughout the Triangle for generations.

Orion
The Orions are classified into three sub races, Ruddy Orions (orange to
copper skin tones), Grey Orions (grey to white skin tones) and Green
Orions (emerald to dark olive-green skin tones). These features are
based on the region of the planet Vondem that the Orion grew up in.
Social class and cultures are striated along skin tone and regional lines.
In terms of population: The Green Orions are the most populous, and
are encountered the most. Ruddy Orions are the second most populous
group with the Grey Orions slightly behind the Ruddy Orions.
Culturally and socially the caste the system of the Orions is fairly rigid,
with the Ruddy Orions at the top and the Green and Greys in various
positions below.

Romulan
A humanoid species genetically from the same root species as
Vulcans. Unlike the Vulcans the Romulans have not maintained as
well-trained a mind, and do not exhibit the same telepathic
capabilities. Nonetheless they have considerable strength due to
higher muscle and bone densities. Some of the Romulans have
developed cranial ridges as well.
14 | P a g e

Reman
Remans are a separate humanoid species from Romulans although
they are both members of the Romulan Star Empire. A subjugated
race, they have been used as slave labor for mining and shock
troops for the Empire. Remans have a higher degree of telepathy
than even Vulcans, almost on par with Betazoids.

Son’a
The Son'a were descendants of the Ba'ku, a human sapient
variant. They had broken off from their main culture and left
their planet in the 2270s. Predominantly a nomadic species,
they became a small power unto themselves until the late
2370s. Even though most of them have returned to the Ba’ku
homeworld, a portion has remained active in the Triangle
Sector. They rely on technological advancements to prolong
their life.

Tellarite
A stocky porcine humanoid race, Tellarites are known for their
engineering skills. They have short snout like noses and heavy
body mass. A hardy but contentious race. Their heavy layers of
skin allow them to regulate their body temperature and can adapt to
extreme heat and cold.

Trion
Outside of their home world, Nimrod is the only planet with sizable
population of Trions. The Trions are “former” slave traders who
created and were masters of the Jentek race. They are also able
administrators who are responsible for worker population resources.
Do not be deceived by a Trion’s appearance. they can move quickly
on their four legs, and they are able to shift their weight internally in
the near cylindrical bodies to keep themselves balanced. Instead of
arms or even hands, the appendages of a Trion are two sets of six
tendrils. These tendrils are highly dexterous and can be surprisingly
strong. Trions are the foremost authority of genetic manipulation.
15 | P a g e

Troyian
A humanoid species, Troyians are a noble race whose skin tones from light
green to lavender. Troyians began exploring the Triangle Sector in the mid-
2270s before founding a major settlement on Paxton IV.

Vorta
The Founders in the Dominion genetically manipulated a small
timid ape like race creating the humanoid Vorta. The Dominion
used them as administrators and governors. Often using select
cloned series such as the Weyoun series. After the Dominion forces
returned to the Gamma Quadrant, two Vorta series remained in the
Triangle Sector, the Kilana and the Gelnon clones who had been
operating in the Triangle Sector coordinating with the Orion
Syndicate.

Vulcan
The humanoid progenitors of the Romulan species. Vulcans are a
strong and mentally capable race with long life spans and intense
logic over emotion skills. Vulcans also exhibit certain telepathic
capabilities, mostly in the form of a tactile telepathy that allows them
to enter a mind and project or search for thoughts and memories.
16 | P a g e

The Federation is the most lenient of all the governments that surround the Triangle. Officially
Starfleet’s mission along the borders and into the interior of the Triangle is that of patrols and to
render aid when necessary. In return there are a few Federation protectorates and friendly
colonies.
Aside from the Federation member worlds that run along the border there are five protectorate
planets, these worlds follow Federation laws and receive the full protection of the Federation and
Starfleet.
Starfleet operations are directed from Starbase 10, under the command of Commodore Biko,
who is responsible for the Federation border and associated planets within the Triangle. A newer
Starbase was built closer to the border and now orbits the planet Hyphaeon (formerly known as
Carwile’s world). For years there was at least twenty light cruisers patrolling the between the
independent system. After the Dominion War it dwindled to half a dozen as ships were needed
elsewhere. Task Force 21, stationed at Starbase 10, includes the newly arrived Antietam Class
Heavy Frigate, the USS Tempest, and four Defiant Class Escort Ships, the USS Vigilant, the
USS Fearless, the USS Naginata, and the USS Bosk. Along with five Nova Class Light Frigates;
USS Eden, USS Constitution, USS Republic, USS Exeter, and the USS Eagle. Additionally,
Outpost 1 (along the Romulan border) and Outpost 2 (along the Klingon border) hold patrol task
forces of two light frigates each.
Federation Border Planets include; Hyphaeon (Starbase 10), Cyclopus, Derigo, Green, Iovine,
Laflin, Lakeland Nicolii, Pluuh II, Precipice, Rashile, Turbulence, Wall, Yeartes, and Zwaalan
Federation Protectorate Planets include; Nattara III, Pasaden, Foronovo, Itlem and Penchan
17 | P a g e

Starfleet
Although the Federation officially maintains a level of neutrality within the Triangle Sector, the
reality is far different. With the rise of Orion criminal activities and the black market during the
Dominion War, the Triangle is considered a potential vulnerable spot for the Federation. In
accordance with Khitomer Treaties between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, both fleets
have agreed to joint patrols in the unclaimed regions of the Triangle Sector. Starfleet also
engages in diplomatic relations with Triangle Sector planets, humanitarian aid and anti-piracy
actions in open space.

Starbase 10
Starbase 10 “Duquesne” is now stationed near the Federation border planet of Hyphaeon
(formerly known as Carwile’s World). Under the command of Commodore Bantu Biko,
Duquesne is the forward operations center for Triangle Sector Starfleet activities, as well as
border control.

Task Force 21
The official patrol fleet for the Triangle Sector is designated Task Force 21, commanded by Fleet
Captain Everett Braxton, it is comprised of two Tempest Class Frigates (designated as Patrol
Vessels), and four Defiant class escort vessels, and five Nova class light frigates along with an
attached squadron of Delta Class Fighters, and various Arrow Class Shuttles. Acting as border
patrols, Federation Protectorate security and anti-piracy, the task force conducts operations
within and along the Triangle Sector. It is considered the first line of defense against any
incursion along the Romulan border as well.

Office of Special Operations

The Office of Strategic Operations is the intelligence group within Starfleet, compartmentalized
under the auspices of the Starfleet Intelligence under the direction of the Commander in Chief of
Starfleet, who in turn reports only to the President of the Federation. The primary goal is the
protection of Federation citizens, Starfleet Personnel and Federation interests in and around the
Triangle Sector.
Part intelligence agency, part field operations, the OSO is unique to the Triangle Sector. OSO
works more closely with Section 31 than virtually any other section of Starfleet, in terms of
information gathering and counter intelligence. Following the experimental Hazard Teams
created on the USS Voyager, during her trek through the Delta Quadrant, OSO operates special
Hazard “Away Teams” that often operate out of specific ships that patrol the sector.

OSO is divided into three sections:

OSO1 is the Administration section; they are responsible for the day-to-day operations,
administration and leadership of the group.
OS2 is the Intelligence section; they are responsible for intelligence gathering, analysis, counter
intelligence, including gathering of confidential informants and espionage.
OS3 is the Field Operations section; compromised of specific teams, including the away teams.
Used for hazard missions, close quarter security, and rescue missions.

Federation Border planets

The Federation is responsible for fourteen planets, Starbase 10, and two outposts that run along
the Federation/Triangle border as well as five protectorate planets that are situated between
Federation and Romulan space in the upper half of the Triangle.

Hyphaeon (formerly Carwile’s World)

Hyphaeon was originally bought by eccentric corporate owner Howard Carwile in the mid-
2200s. His idea was to create a planetary refuge for artists to work and live. After he passed
away the planet ownership lapsed and it is now a full-fledged Federation world on the edge of
the border of the Triangle Sector. Starfleet maintains a planet side base and training grounds as
well Starbase 10 Duquesne. From there Starfleet coordinates all operations regarding the
Triangle Sector. The planet itself is still home to a thriving artist colony as well as two respected
universities, one for art and one for engineering. The population is roughly 3 million made up of
civilians and Federation personnel. An elected governor administers the planet’s needs.
Cyclopus
Cyclopus is named both for its large size, and for the single, huge eye like ocean in one of its
hemispheres. The rest of the terrain consists of large, flat expanses, interrupted occasionally by a
few rolling hills or small forests.
The major export of Cyclopus is a hybrid grain developed from a cross between a native grass
and a genetically engineered variety of Terran wheat. This hybrid combines the nutrition of the
Terran grain with the hardiness and size of the native grass. The result is a large kernelled grain
that is very high in protein and carbohydrates. Imports to Cyclopus include technological
devices, and many luxury items.
The society on this world was originally modelled loosely on the Terran Roman Empire when it
was originally colonized by Terrans. For decades it was run as an imperial monarchy, reaching
its height under the rule of Empress Meia d’Ricetta in the mid-2200s. By 2320, the government
changed over to a form of constitutional monarchy with a representative senate. The society still
enjoys their Roman heritage and is overseen by Emperor Herodotus Praeconinus, who rules over
a population of 18 million humans.
Derigo
Derigo is an agriculture-based water planet, with crops of algae and kelp. Most of the
human/tellerite populations are clustered around sea bases and small island continents. The
people of Derigo consider themselves to be strongly independent but became a full-fledged
member of the Federation in the late 2200s.
Green
Green is small tropical planet with no real population to speak of, instead a number of biological
research facilities dot the planet. Conditions on the planet are similar to Earth’s Jurassic and is
mostly populated by creatures similar to Earth’s dinosaurs. Two moons, humorously named
“Thing 1” and “Thing 2” orbit the planet directly opposite of each other.
Iovine
Iovine is an Acta crystal mining colony, which the company Inter-systems Extraction has been
under contract by the Federation Colonial Administration for over a hundred years. It is a
predominantly water planet with a large desert continent and multiple island land masses dotting
the oceans. Most of the population revolves around mining operations and support.
19 | P a g e

Aside from the small island land masses the main continent rises out of the sea into a two-mile-
high plateau. The cliff walls provide somewhat of a wind break against the near constant high
winds. The tidal shifts are equally violent caught between the planet’s three moons. For
generations the miners lived entirely underground until suitable surface domes were built. With
the domes in place, life became a lot easier for the inhabitants.
Laflin
Laflin is still primarily a dilithium mining colony for the Federation. A dry and arid planet, the
majority of the planet population resides in the northern hemisphere along a large mountain
range. This mountain range is where the dilithium is mined. Studies performed in the 23rd
century discovered that the dilithium vein runs the entire length of the mountain range and deep
into the crust of the planet itself. Safety protocols are strictly held in place to prevent
destabilization of the planet due to overmining, thus avoiding the same disaster that befell the
Klingon moon Praxis.
Lakeland
Admitted as a full member of the Federation in 2299, Lakeland gets its name from the unique
geography. A low sea level created thousands of lakes instead of large seas or oceans. The size
and depth of these lakes range from small shall lakes no more than fifty feet deep to larger
deeper lakes that go down several miles in the center. The two moons keep the tides locked and
it is considered a premier vacation spot throughout the Federation.
The climate is favorable for growing things, and most of the lakes are filled with almost any
imaginable type of fish. Nearly every species of fish in the Federation may be found in at least
one of Lakeland’s lakes. There are not many large cities: most of the population is clustered in
smaller lakeside villages and towns.
Nicolii
Nicolii is a large rough and barren planet. Due to its close proximity to the dilithium mines on
Laflin, it is used by the Federation as cracking and refinement center. The entire population of
45,000 is made up of Federation personnel and it is administered by Starfleet directly.
Pluuh
When Pluuh was originally discovered by a Tellerite exploration team it was swamp world, hot,
damp and unfavorable towards the development of major lifeforms. With the exception of a
variety of fungi and a single species of fern. Under its original charter, Pluuh was the home of
various research and development stations, mostly for terraforming purposes. Over the course of
50 years, several terraforming techniques were found to be successful. By the mid-24th century,
Pluuh has become a fairly habitable planet. The population of 75,000 is still compromised of
research personnel, support services and their families.
Precipice
Precipice is a dry planet and the closest Federation planet to the Klingon border. The population
consists of nomadic clans and city dwellers who act as both traders and border check point for
ships crossing to and from Klingon space. It also serves as a support station for nearby Outpost
2. A net of monitoring satellites is spread across the system and beyond. A Federation governor
works in tandem with a Starfleet Administrator, normally held at the rank of captain.
Rashile
A heavy gravity planet, run by Rashile Gourmet Foods. In an age of replicated foods, RGF has
managed to remain in demand for fresh foods whose taste cannot be replicated. They often trade
foodstuffs with local border planets and due to nutrient rich soil are able to grow a large variety
20 | P a g e

of food crops. Rashile is also somewhat of an anomaly as a privately held planet within the
Federation.
Turbulence
Still considered a mining colony for over a century, Turbulence lives up to its name, with a hot
tropical climate, high gravity and three moons that often combine to cause severe weather
monsoons. The small population is mostly made up of independent miners who mine and then
sell dilithium and other rare materials. Due to its low population and no government, Starfleet
patrols the planet on a regular basis to insure there aren’t any smugglers taking refuge there.
Wall
Wall’s membership into the Federation was overshadowed by the historic Khitmore Accords in
2293. While there is still a large mining industry on the planet, they have mostly turned to
building some of the most reliable private small ships outside of the Federation shipyards. Wall
is also the closest Federation planet to the Orion Mercantile controlled space and also serves as a
trading post between the Mercantile and the Federation.
Yeartes
Close to Rashile, Yeartes remains a predominantly uninhabited and unincorporated planet.
Rashile Gourmet Foods uses the planet to farm a specific plant called Finagle’s Fist. Starfleet
also operates biological research facility Langston on the planet’s surface. It is mostly used for
xenomorphic research and is currently under the command of Starfleet Medical Officer Captain
Katherine Pulaski. Starfleet also maintains a Regula Class 2 station nearby as a monitoring
station. The station includes two runabouts and is administered by a Starfleet officer of lieutenant
commander rank. The station has a permanent crew of 35.
Zwaalan
The planet Zwaalan was the last of the border planets to become a full Federation member. In the
mid-2200s, the monarchy government under the rule of King Vasyli Illlievich was known for its
xenophobia of non-humans. The current monarch is his grandson Dimitri softened that stance.
Currently it is a major trading post with the independent planet Comstock and is often considered
the door to the Triangle by the Federation.

Federation Protector Planets

As the Federation continued to operate in the Triangle Sector throughout the 23rd and 24th
centuries, they developed trading relations with several of the planets within the sector itself. Over
the course of years, five of the planets began to make motions of becoming members of the
Federation itself, however their close proximity to the Romulan space, made the Romulan Star
Empire uneasy. After months of intense negotiations by Ambassador Sarek, a compromise was
finally achieved and in 2315, the five planets were granted protectorate status by the Federation
but large-scale military installations were forbidden. The Romulans also retained the rights to open
space and would be allowed to conduct their own patrols within that region. Regardless of the
treaties, these five planets are still considered to be somewhat vulnerable.
Foronovo
The inhabitants of Foronovo have an interesting history. The population is predominantly made
up of Teenaxi, who were mass incarcerated and carried on a Fibonan ship. The Teenaxins staged
a revolt which in turn caused the ship to crash land on the planet. Released into the wild the
Teenaxins created their own colony, while the Fibonan crew was rescued by their fleet. A
Starfleet survey ship encountered the colony in 2265, two years after the USS Enterprise made
21 | P a g e

first contact with the Teenaxi homeworld. Offers to return the colonists to their home were
rebuffed but they allowed a communications relay to be left behind so they could remain in
contact. Resourceful the Teenaxins had built a prosperous technologically capable city from the
remains of the crashed Fibonan ship. Romulans and other races would occasionally encounter the
diminutive colonists and more than a few skirmishes broke out. Fearing that one of the other
races might try to exterminate them, they turned to the Federation and requested help protecting
themselves. With Federation support, they built a small starport and adopted the systems of
Starfleet and acquired a shuttle. As they were natural and able engineers, they soon were
traveling to some of the local planets to help with engineering issues. The planet Foronovo itself
is a typical class M planet with different climate zones. The Teenaxi capital is not only home to
the colony but also now serves as repair and way station.
Irshi V
A class M ringed planet. It maintains a stable axis rotation keeping the northern hemisphere tilted
away in a perpetual sub-arctic climate, while the southern hemisphere maintains a semi-arid to
arid climate. There is a mixed-species settlement in the northern hemisphere named La Rochelle.
It is home to roughly 250 plus settlers who mostly mine in the mountains. The southern
hemisphere is home to several Arkonian settlements. The Arkonians are reptilian race which
keeps to themselves and have a history of ignoring outsider hails.
Due to the highly dense and charges particles in the ionosphere, beaming down to the planet is
impossible without a signal booster from the ground to the relay satellite in stationary orbit.
Without that signal booster, the only way to reach the planet surface is by shuttle.
Nataara
The planet Nataara was originally called Mataara and was under Klingon control for much of the
22nd century. An uninhabited planet mostly unremarkable, the Klingons managed to maintain a
small outpost with no more than 280 Klingons. It was used as a monitoring station, with tacit
Romulan approval. The Romulans were informed that it was intended to spy on Federation ships
and communications and as long as what they learned was also forwarded to the Romulan
Empire, the Klingons were left in peace. The Klingons WERE spying on the Federation and they
did relay that information to the Romulans, however they were also spying on the Romulans as
well. When the Tal’Shiar discovered this fact, they introduced a virus on the base which killed
off the entire crew of 280. Abandoning the base, the Klingons destroyed what they could, but
much of the infrastructure was still there and it was not long before the base became occupied by
traders from the planet Pasaden. The new occupants, not exactly versed in Klingon mistranslated
the name of the planet from Mataara III to Nataara III.
Pasaden
Early civilian survey ships found Pasaden to be a colorful planet. As more beings entered into
the Triangle Sector in order to get away from the confines of one of the major governments,
Pasaden became a haven for smugglers. Over the years they settled down and enjoyed the black-
market trade of Romulan Ale and other contraband items between the two major powers.
Unfortunately, with a black market came pirates and Pasaden was not large enough to defend
itself on its own. When the conflict between the Romulans and the Federation escalated the
inhabitants of the planet came to rely on the presence of Starfleet and became more welcoming.
Today Pasaden is used as a stopover for Federation ships on patrol in the Sector.
Penchan
Closest to the Romulan border, Penchan III was a former Romulan prisoner internment camp
during the Earth Romulan War in the 22nd century. After the war had concluded, the Romulans
22 | P a g e

had secretly kept the Terran prisoners in the encampments. As the political winds shifted inside
the Romulan Empire the camps were neglected and eventually forgotten. By the end of the 22nd
century the population was mixed breed of Romulan and Humans who had forged their own
society, which became a blend of the two. Unwanted by the pure blood Romulans and unknown
by the Federation, the colony revealed itself in 2301, much to the shock of the Federation and in
the midst of escalating hostilities between the Romulan Star Empire and the Federation. It was
not until 2370 that Penchan III that Penchan reinvented itself as a way station for traders between
Romulan and Federation space. These days Penchan III has become a customs station where
goods are inspected and logged by both governments as they travel back and forth. Merchants
were reluctant at first but it soon became a better arrangement that being hassled twice during
their voyages.

Task Force 21 Ships

After the Dominion War, the Federation tasked Starfleet with downplaying their exploratory
services and concentrate on defense and diplomatic missions. Smaller more combat capable
ships were designed, with resources geared to military instead of science function. Task Force
21, designated for Federation security along and within the Triangle Sector is comprised of three
classes of ships.

Tempest Class Cruiser:

The Tempest is the newest cruiser class in Starfleet. In design terms it is the Defiant Class writ
large. With Phaser cannons, phaser banks and forward and aft torpedo launchers. It is large
enough to fit four Arrow Class or Danube Class Runabouts and two Delta Fighters. Designed for
long range patrol and squadron tactical command and control missions. The Tempest is not
overly large compared to many of the cruisers in Starfleet, roughly the same length as the old
Enterprise Class Cruisers of the 23rd century.
Specifications:
Length: 310 meters Beam: 140 meters
Decks: 8 Crew Compliment: 66 officers. 134 Enlisted
25 | P a g e

Nova Class Light Frigate:

The Nova Class Frigate refit is designed for short term patrols and border defense. Of the three
classes of Federation ships operating in the Triangle Sector, the Nova Class Frigate is the only
one not armed with pulse phaser cannons. The refit includes an additional aft torpedo launcher.
And can hold two runabout sized craft. The Nova Class operates primarily as scout ships, using
their advanced sensor equipment to monitor other ships in their area.
Specifications:
Length: 180 meters Beam: 43 meters
Decks: 8 Crew Compliment: 15 officers. 65 enlisted.

Defiant Class Corvette:

Originally designed as a fast attack craft against Borg threats, the Defiant was designated as an
escort vessel. Its service during the Dominion War as a tactical strike vessel led Starfleet to
redesignate it as a corvette. These ships are attached to specific task forces, border patrols and at
least one has been added to every Federation Starbase. Armed with pulse phaser cannons and
carrying an ablative armor system, they are a tough ship in a fight. Unlike the USS Defiance,
stationed at Deep Space 9, the remainder Defiant Class ships do not have cloaking devices. Each
corvette is able to carry a single Type 18 shuttlecraft.
Specifications:
Length: 120 meters Beam: 90 meters
Decks: 5 Crew Compliment: 14 officers. 36 enlisted.
26 | P a g e

Delta Fighter

The Delta Flyer was a shuttle craft created by Lieutenant Tom Paris onboard the USS Voyager,
during her voyage in the Delta Quadrant. Originally designed as fast moving and versatile craft.
After Voyager’s return, Starfleet took a keen eye to Lt. Paris’ design and with collaboration with
his father Admiral Owen Paris, the Delta Flyer was augmented into a small combat craft. During
the Dominion War, Starfleet found great success with Peregrine Class Interceptors. The Delta
Fighters have taken on that role and are used as interceptors and small patrol ships in more
dangerous areas as well as auxiliary combat craft onboard certain capital ships. The Delta Fighter
is equipped with for and aft phaser banks, ablative armor and dorsal micro torpedo launcher
equipped with quantum torpedoes.
Specifications:
Length: 12 meters Beam: 8 meters
Decks: 1 Crew Compliment: 4; Helm, Navigator, Sensor, and Tactical.

Arrow Class Runabout:

The Arrow Class Runabout is designed to replace the older Danube Class. Sleek and modular,
the Arrow has multiple configurations; standard, medical and prisoner transport. They are often
armed with micro torpedo launchers and phaser banks.
Specifications:
Length: 26 meters Beam: 16 meters
Decks: 1 Crew Compliment: 4; Helm, Navigator, Engineer, and Tactical.
Passenger compliment up to 18.

The Mantiev Coalition is an autonomous collective of fourteen planets within the Triangle that
are beholden to none of the great powers. Each planet has a Principal Administrator with the
title of “Sire”. The fourteen Principal Administrators form the Presidium. Each planet has their
own orbiting space station which is run by a commandant.
Made up of various immigrant races, the Mantievs are fiercely independent and, in many cases,
immensely wealthy. A loose coalition government deals with both the overall bureaucracy and
the maintenance of a formidable military force. Officers within the Matiev Defense Force
include military trained former personnel of other militaries, including the Federation, Ferengi,
and even Xindi nations.

History
From 2171 to 2299 the Coalition was originally known as the Affiliation of Outer Free Worlds.
Founded by Leland Baker. The Baker Dynasty ruled the association for 128 years from their
home planet Baker’s World in the center of the Association space.
In 2299, A coalition of political opponents, led by Kruse Mantiev rose up against the then current
leader Willis Baker, their chief complaint was that the Baker Dynasty began with what was
called the “Colil Incident.” When a Baker funded expedition found ruins of an ancient and
technologically advanced society under the ice on Colil V, Willis Baker began to allow the
Federation unprecedented access to ships and materials and the planet itself. This did not sit well
with the other political houses and trade groups. And the colonies on Colil V were becoming
increasing upset with outsiders determining the course of their planet. To offset this, Baker made
the planet open for study by Romulan, Klingon and Orion interests. And to appease the local
populations, he sent some 300 Baker troops backed by New Aberdeen ships to protect the planet.
The political situation devolved further, when an Orion assassin murdered Wing Captain Eric
Corliss, after the latter uncovered massive grift between the Orions and representatives of Baker.
The resulting death was a shock to the entire Association and a full-blown civil war broke out.
Kruse Mantiev of the planet Maze called for the resignation of Willis Baker and a new
provisional government be put into place. The AOFW split between Willis Baker and his
loyalists on Baker’s World, Archibald II, New Aberdeen, Hoot, Martin’s Star III, and Morning
Garden and those of Kruse Mantiev on Maze, Colil V, Fountain, Jav II, Niic, Devotion, Paxton II
and Paxton IV. The tide quickly turned against the Baker faction, when Sinjin Montrose of
Achibald II was overthrown by Kent Corliss, Eric’s older brother. Willis Baker and his daughter
Kellie were killed several months later when their starship was destroyed and the Baker Dynasty
was broken forever. The entire war lasted barely six months.
29 | P a g e

A referendum was created and the new Mantiev Government was formed. Kruse Mantiev created
the Presidium and a formal leadership of each planet under the title of Sire. The Sires hold their
position by political acclaim rather than family dynasties. After the civil war, six of the fourteen
planets chose to rename themselves after the fall of the Baker Dynasty and their adherents in a
gesture of peaceful reconciliation. Kruze Mantiev was the main architect of the new government
and the entire planetary association was renamed in his honor.

Known Mantiev Beings

Siress Tinia (Basilisk): Human administrator for the

planet Basilisk. Like all citizens of Basilisk, she served in the military
until she entered the political scene during the Dominion War,
becoming the Siress of her planet in 2374.

Sire Colicos (Haven): Human administrator of the planet

Haven. As Haven is the political center of the Mantiev Colonies,
Colicos wields immense power, and informally is referred to as the
Prima Sire.

Sire Uri (Selanar): Human administrator for the planet

Selanar. Uri is one of the oldest of the Sires. He has enjoyed a long life
of many appetites and excess.
30 | P a g e

Sire Geller (Colil V): A tall imposing human, he has been

friends with Sire Seetol for a number of years now and the two of them
will often speak last in matters held at the Presidium.

Sire Ravashol (Fountain): The human administrator

of the Fountain. Gregarious and flamboyant, he was a prominent Wing
Captain in the Mantiev military before “settling down” to running his
planet.

Sire Thade (Jasper): A Varalan administrator of the

planet Jasper. He is a master manipulator. It has been speculated that
he has strong ties to the Ah’Sang Orion crime syndicate.

Sire Xavier (Manticore):

Second to Sire Uri, he is the eldest leader and the longest serving Sire in
the Presidium serving for twenty one years

Sire Cornelius (Maze): Aside from being the planet

administrator, Cornelius is also an Abbot of the Azza Spiritual Order.
31 | P a g e

Sire Seetol (Sakpata): Seetol is the Vulcan administrator for

Sakpata. The administrators of Sakpata hold that office until they retire or
deemed unable to continue in their duties.

Sire Adar (Jav VII): The Andorian Administrator.

A leading member of the Jav Freetrade Corporation, Adar has
continued to be Sire of Jav VII for three consecutive terms.

Siress Lotay (Niic): The Efrosian administrator for Niic.

She is the youngest of the Sires. Because of their culture, the Niicali
have only ever elected female administrators.

Sire Gavin (Devotion): Gavin is a human administrator for the

planet Devotion, as much as the majority of the population is still devoutly
religious Gavin is one of the few who is more secular in nature. Despite this
aspect, which puts him at odds with some of his people, he is still a popular
and able administrator.

Sire Karibdis (Paxton III): The first Denobulan

administrator of Paxton III. His family emigrated to Paxton two
generations ago. Karibdis has shown himself to be adept at handling both
Tellerite and Human personalities equally and has garnered a reputation
for insightfulness.
32 | P a g e

Siress Vulpa (Paxton IV): A Troyian administrator of

Paxton IV. Vulpa is highly intelligent and shrewd. Shortly after becoming
Siress, she went about forging alliances with several key Sires in the
Mantiev Coalition, including Sire Karibdis and Siress Tinia.

Marshal Linden Gordon: Head of the entire Mantiev

Coalition armed forces, Marshal Gordon is a pragmatic officer, not easily
fooled nor impressed by bluster. It was his leadership that built a
coalition of fleets to prevent the Dominion from sending troops into the
Triangle.

Wing Captain Marco Corliss: captain of the

Khopesh, a Gryphon class battleship from Basilisk. While Marshal
Gordon is often quiet, Wing Captain Corliss is bombastic. A daring
officer he is not above taking personal risks to himself and is as
comfortable flying a small pursuit fighter as he is commanding a fleet
on the bridge of his starship.

Captain Helena Corliss: Captain of the Astrea. Helena is

also the wife of Marco Corliss. Where her husband is brash, she is quiet.
A formidable tactician and demanding officer she inspires those that
serve under her.

Captain Thomas Riker: Captain of the Cruiser

Nightbird from Haven, he is a former Starfleet officer who spent
several years in a Cardassian prison camp. Upon his release he came
to the Triangle Sector and offered his services to the Mantiev
Coalition.

Mantiev Coalition Planets

Basilisk (Formerly Archibald II)

Basilisk is one of three of the closet planets to Federation Space. It orbits a standard yellow sun,
and features two small moons, Herse and Pandrossos, which are thought to be captured asteroids.
The moons orbit so close to each other that they periodically swap positions. While Basilisk
industry is based on mining, specifically latnimum and dilithium, and paralithium, the planet
itself only has latninum mining operation. The dilithium and paralithium are mined from the
moons and asteroids within the system. Because of its far-flung wealth, Basilisk enjoy trades
with the Orion Mercantile, the Federation, and even the Klingons. 10 years ago, a Ferengi and
his crew immigrated to Basilisk, using their Ferengi Marauder class ship as a “buy in”. The
planet has a number of different climates from tropical around the equator to arctic at the poles.
There are three large continents on the planet with one desert dominated southern continent
forming the bulk of the latnimum mining operations.
Aside from Basilisk, there is the Acheron asteroid belt - A broad asteroid belt, that Basilisk
mines for various ores. And Ophion - A frigid gas giant with a diameter of 51,000 km. The
planet has 14 moons, all smaller than 10 km in diameter. The moons are heavily patrolled by
Raptor class attack craft as it is a haven for pirates.
From its early history as Archibald II, the planet has maintained a robust military and boasts the
best military academies and training camps in the coalition. Many prominent military families
hail from Basilisk, most notably the legendary Corliss family.
Aside from its military history, Basilisk is also the producer of the highest quality of Ambrosia, a
soft, sweet liqueur. Amber in color it is prized throughout the Triangle Sector and beyond and
can be found at the best tables.
Haven (Formerly Baker’s World)
Originally as Baker’s world it is a major trade center, and also maintains several deep mineral
deposits as well. Former law was that if you were convicted of a major crime your citizenship
would be revoked. This policy led to a growing number of dissidents expelled from Baker’s
World to other planets, a contributing cause to the downfall of the Baker family. After the civil
war, it was renamed as Haven. Kruse Mantiev made use of the original Baker government center,
renaming the city Shantis, and created the Presidium where all of the planet’s administrators can
come together.
Despite the major shift in the governments from the war almost a hundred and twenty years ago,
not much has changed.
Selanar (formerly New Aberdeen)
Selanar remains the predominant shipping construction facility in the Mantiev Coalition. The
orbital shipyards rival that of the Federation Utopia Planitia Shipyards on Mars. With a long
history of cooperation with the Federation, many of the starship designs have the same elements
as Starfleet. The two main ships within the Mantiev Defense Force are the Griffin class battle-
cruiser and the Escutcheon class frigate and the Raptor class attack ships. The Selanar shipyards
are mostly devoted to commercial craft, such as freighters and transports.
34 | P a g e

Colil V
Predominantly considered to be inhospitable, it has the smallest population of the coalition
planets. The humans who colonized this planet were mostly expelled citizens of Baker’s World.
Several communities were built that were suited for smuggling and trade. As replicator
technology grew the communities began to thrive.
In 2286 an expedition founded by the Baker Family discovered extensive ruins of an ancient
civilization under the surface. With that discovery came Federation and other governments
snooping around, the local population was feeling pushed around again. This all came to a head
thirteen years later when civil war broke out.
Today Colil V has maintained their own archeological research center and with the backing of
the entire coalition, they keep a strong hand against smuggling any artifacts. Several museums
have been built to catalog and display the artifacts which has given a new life to the planet. The
cities that have sprouted up are domed biospheres to give more comfort to the beings residing
there. There is also a strong nomadic population that resides on Colil V, relishing in the harsh
conditions.
Fountain
Much of Fountain’s equatorial land mass is covered with spa-like mineral springs. It is more of a
tourist destination place than anything else. The population is geared to either service or
administration. Fountain has heavy Orion influences as the Orion Mercantile Association was the
first to build up the tourism trade. Because of that, it is considered a premier destination spot for
prominent Orion families looking for rest and relaxation.
Jasper (Formerly Hoot)
When Jasper was called Hoot, it started off as a penal colony for criminals of various planets.
Over its early years it became too unruly to be contained as a penal colony and instead became
more or less a lawless planet where whoever had the best skills with a phaser was the being in
charge. Even to this day the beings on Jasper have a complex code of ethics, where by a being
had to fight their own battles and respect is given to those with the best martial skills.
Tournaments of various martial arts are held seasonally on the planet, mostly open invitational
affairs, where all participants sign waivers acknowledging injury and death.
The planet is also a major export of the delicacy of Wild Hoot Mountainbeast.
Manticore (Formerly Martin’s Star III)
Manticore is a mining planet. The predominant gems found there are Cobali thermgems, rare and
highly sought after. For most of the the 23rd century there were fewer than 10,000 individuals in
three mining facilities. By 2340, several Acta crystal veins were discovered and a gem rush
ensued. Today there are over 100,000 beings living and working on Manticore. Manticore
maintains its own mining security. Sale of claims and the gemstones are strictly regulated. Even
Orion thieves have learned to not cross the Manticore Mining Union. Manticore is a cold planet,
often referenced as being as cold as the Klingon planet Rura Penthe.
Maze
The geography of is one of major tectonic plates that have crashed together creating massive
mountain ranges and canyons. Predominantly an industrial world it is rich in minerals suitable
for the building materials of starships, both the Federation and Romulus buy materials from the
planet. In the 23rd century the population suffered from a global addiction to a steroidal drug. The
drug addiction was broken by Doctor Booker M’Benga, a Starfleet medical officer. Kruse
Mantiev, a former addict himself, helped administer the release of the counter drug to his people.
35 | P a g e

A devote of the religion Azza, Mantiev worked with the Azzan Abbots to help the afflicted
people. The Azza faith, which seeks to find a balance in one’s self, dominates Maze. Azzan
monasteries both large and small are found all over the planet.
Sakpata (Formerly Morning Garden)
Sakpata is a pacifistic planet. Originally settled by a mixture of Vulcan and Terran colonists,
they meant to establish a colony devoted to their own spiritual pursuits. Due to its nonviolent
expressions, Klingons are actually prohibited from going to the planet’s surface, due to their
unruly and violent natures. A force of Vulcan manned Peace Keepers maintains security and
stability on the planet. Originally named Morning Garden, the ruling body, called the Gathering
of Advisors, took many years to finally formally agree to being a full member of the Association
of Outer Free Worlds. Unfortunately, when they did formally join, the civil war started within
the year. A Vulcan monk named Sakpata renounced the violent actions of the Baker and Mantiev
Factions, but agreed to mediate the truce and reincorporation into the Mantiev Coalition.
Feeling shame for their own small part in the civil war, the Gathering of Advisors chose to
rename the planet in honor of Sakpata the Wise.
The population of Sakpata is divided up into agricultural communes, most of which are clustered
around monasteries.
Jav VII
It is a warm temperate planet once wholly owned by operated by the Andorian Jav Freetrade
Corporation. A free trade world that produced most of its earnings from lease agreements at
major storage facilities such as at the capital of Javlisig. In late 23rd century, the Orion
Mercantile had been cutting into their profits as a major trading port. The Jav Freetrade
Corporation struck a lucrative deal with the Federation, as major trading port for them within the
Triangle. Today Jav is a strong member world of the Mantiev Coalition. One of its most well-
known exports is that of Ambrosia, a smooth, sweet liqueur. Green in color the Jav Ambrosia is
the lowest quality of the three produced, due to its shortest distillation, but also the most
commonplace. The Orion Mercantile planet Laldan and the Mantiev planet Basilisk produce the
other types of Ambrosia.
Niic
Niic means “light” in the language of the indigenous population. They refer to themselves as
Niicali, “the light watchers”. The planet’s environment creates a nutrient rich moss which in
some areas is several miles deep, that the population feeds on. The Niicali are low tech society
that centers around the process of the moss, which they worship as much as they cultivate. With
the exception of a few planetary ports and the one orbiting station, the planet is relatively free of
most advanced technology. The Niicali are a matriarchal society, with the females taking on
traditional roles as administrators, while the males perform most of the labor force. Exportation
of the moss is handled through the administration center Ricco, which also serves as the capital
of the planet. Only the Niicali harvest and purify the moss for exportation and they set the rates
of which it is exported. Transportation hubs have grown around the planet, but even after
hundreds of years, the Niicali only use the barest of high-tech instruments, and even then, mostly
for amusements. The largest non-indigenous population is a community of Efrosians who act as
the intermediaries for Niic in interplanetary affairs.
Devotion
Devotion was originally founded by a peculiar religious group called The Children of the
Covenant, which originated on Earth. Devotion is an agricultural world, which forbids any type
of advanced technology for production. Essentially a self-sufficient world, the planet joined the
36 | P a g e

original AOFW for protection. The religion believes that humans were the first created and that
encounters with human like races has only reenforced this belief over the years. Every year they
send missionaries called Guiders to planets to hold theological conversations. Although in recent
years the Romulans and Klingons have simply turned them away. Despite the more luddite view
regarding production, Devotions are not above using technology for other means, including
communications, transport and defense. During and after the civil war, a military sect was
created, called the Protectors. They serve as the security forces in and around Devotion.
Paxton III
Paxton III started off as a joint mining colony of Tellerite and Humans. For many years, even
under the AOFW, they waged a sporadic raiding war with nearby Paxton IV. When the civil war
broke out, Paxton III chose to follow the Baker Faction and engaged in space and land battles
with the Troyians on Paxton IV. When the Mantiev Coalition was founded, a lengthy trade deal
was finally struck between the two planets. With Paxton III providing raw materials and
equipment and Paxton IV providing produce.
Paxton IV
While Paxton IV is situated in the “sweet spot” of the Paxton star system. A little further away
from the sun then Paxton III, having ample fertile land, and quickly became an agricultural
planet. In the mid-23rd century, a Troyian mass migration boosted the planet’s population.
After years of intermittent conflict, both planets have entered into a mutual trade treaty. After a
hundred years of relative peace between them, the populations regard each other as sister planets.
After generations of living on Paxton IV, the Troyians found that their naturally light green skin,
began to take on a blueish hue, due in large part to the mineral content of the food they eat.

Mantiev Defense Force

The original defense services of the AOFW were modeled after Starfleet and shared some of the
same technology and development. After the civil war the new Mantiev Defense Force continued
that tradition. The Mantiev Defense force is broken into several divisions. The main fleet, the
auxiliary defense corps, and security/ground troops. The main fleet is responsible for the overall
defense of the Mantiev Coalition as well as anti-piracy actions. The fleet is currently made up off
of fourteen large battle cruisers and sixty frigates, with an additional two hundred small attack
craft.
The Auxiliary Defense Corps are responsible for the personal defense of each planet and include
the command of an orbiting defense station/star port as well as smaller non uniform starships of
one to three ships depending on the planet. The auxiliary fleet includes a the MDF Reaper, a
Ferengi D’Kora class marauder and the MDF Independence, a former Jem’Hadar carriership. In
total the entire Mantiev Defense fleet can command forty-eight starships, in addition to the two
hundred small attack craft.
Mantiev Security forces are spread out throughout the coalition and act as overall defense and
law enforcement as needed.
Basilisk is still the primary training ground for the Mantiev Defense Force and traditionally the
officer corps has drawn from them.

Ships of the Mantiev Fleet

Gryphon Class Heavy Cruiser
The Gryphon Heavy Cruiser was a collaborative effort between the Federation and the Mantiev
Coalition. It was born as the original concept of what would become the Ambassador Class
Cruiser for Starfleet. The Gryphon boasts phaser banks on both the saucer section and the main
hull as well as robust hangar deck to house and launch the Cyclone assault fighters. The ships
have been in service for over thirty-five years and are the pride of the Mantiev Fleet.

Specifications:
Length: 580 meters Beam: 338 meters
Decks: 36 Crew Compliment: 120 officers. 430 enlisted.

Specter Class Frigate

The Specter makes up the bulk of the Mantiev fleet. Smaller than the cruisers, the Specters are
primarily used for patrols and planetary defense. Mantiev Defense Force tactics typically have
the Specter’s flying in pairs. These sister ships will train together and patrol together.

Specifications:
Length: 343 meters Beam: 150 meters
Decks: 15 Crew Compliment: 40 officers. 130 enlisted.
38 | P a g e

Clyclone Attack Craft

Most of the rogue ships that the Mantiev Fleet encounters are small, fast and highly
maneuverable. Orion and Naussican built small pirate craft, smugglers and the like are the main
adversaries of the Cyclones. Launched from space stations or Gryphons these ships allow for a
wider patrol net. A typical squadron is comprised of six Cyclones, often operating in pairs.

Specifications:
Length: 13 meters Beam: 10 meters
Decks: 1 Crew Compliment: Pilot and Co-pilot.

The Orions are a humanoid race that originate on the planet Vondem in the Beta Quadrant. They
have a number of colonies within the Rigel systems. Their name is a variation of their native
word “Ur’eon” which they refer to themselves as to other species. Internally they refer to their
race as Kolari.

The Orions control two separate regions of space within the Beta Quadrants. The home system is
called by various names but is most commonly referred to as Orion Space. It is an amalgamation
of planets long ago conquered or controlled by the ruling Orion families on their home planet of
Vondem. It encompasses not just the Orion home worlds but the Rigel systems as well. A loosely
defined neutral space situated halfway between the Federation Sol system and the Klingon
Q’onos system, the Orions have been thought of as lawless pirates, slavers and merchants for
centuries, a reputation they will often use to their advantage.
Aside from their own controlled space the Orions also maintain four planetary systems in the
upper region of the Triangle Sector, situated between Federation space, the Klingon border, the
Mantiev Coalition, with the large Azure Nebula between the Mantievs and the Orions. This
controlled space is referred to as the Orion Frontier Mercantile Association, often shortened to
just “Orion Mercantile”. It started off as lucrative trade centers during the Klingon Federation
War in the mid-23rd century. For most of that time it was a very loose network for Orion led
factions, both legal and illegal. The Orion Mercantile, backed by the Botchok home world, was
involved in major power plays within the Triangle Sector, often involved in intrigue with both
Klingons and the Federation and continuing to fuel the hostile nature between the two great
governments for further profit
Orion power and influence were greatly diminished at the turn of the 24th century. The Klingon
and Federation alliance formed with the Khitomer Treaty greatly changed the dynamic of the
Triangle Sector. With the formation of this “grand alliance” the Orion government and ruling
families found themselves unable to profit from the hostilities of these two great governments,
and turned to a new more peace minded position. Most of the great families put an end to
military support and piracy engagements in the Triangle Sector in 2309, with the exception of
40 | P a g e

two great families, the Pry and Kadloc families. When the Association of Outer Free Worlds had
a major civil war, both families were more than happy to lend support to both factions. What at
first was considered a boon to the Orions quickly faded when the Mantiev faction won in a short
time and the new Mantiev Coalition was formed, stronger than the original Association of Outer
Free Worlds. When the Romulans completely withdrew from the Triangle Sector in 2315, after
lengthy negotiations with the Federation, the families of the Orion Mercantile changed much of
their methodology. The crime syndicates still managed to continue throughout the Alpha and
Beta Quadrants for years to come. And trade and deals were still lucrative in the Triangle Sector,
but for the most part, outwardly it would appear that the Orion Mercantile had gone legitimate.

The Dominion War in the mid-2370s brought a change to Orion opportunities once again.
Officially the Orions remained neutral during the Dominion War. The crime syndicates found a
rebirth of sorts. As the Federation and Klingons put more resources into fighting the war, they
were having a harder time keeping the criminal activities at bay. The syndicates worked closely
with Dominion Vorta to gain access to information to hurt the Alpha Quadrant forces. During
this time the Pry and Kadloc families took advantage of the disarray of war and gained full
control over the Orion Mercantile, finding ways to create profit that would fill the Ferengi with
envy. The two Orion families aligned into great family by marriage, and the Pry-Kadloc Family
formed alliances with the interstellar power Son’a, several Naussican clans, and various Ferengi
ventures.

Even though the Dominion War ended and much of the Son’a ruling body left for their home
world, the Orion Mercantile is in such a position of Strength that it independent in all but name
of the Orion Botchok government.

The Pry-Kadloc Family, in the Triangle Sector has direct control over the four main planets in
the Orion Mercantile; Olen-X (formerly Freeloader), Nimrod (formerly Workday), Laldan VII,
and Doo III.

Ah’sang Crime Syndicate

The Orion Syndicates was created and maintained by the Orions although over the years
numerous other races have gained entrance into the Syndicate. The Ah’sang factions’ origins,
like many Orion syndicates, are difficult to determine. What is known is that it originated in
Orion Space. While most of the crime syndicates are considered nuisances, the Ah’sang are
considered to be more violent than most and have been a thorn in the side to many Federation
planets for years.

The Dominion War proved a boon for the Ah’sang. The resources devoted to dealing with
criminal activity were mostly reallocated to fight the Dominion War. Despite that Starfleet
Intelligence and Section 31 both, kept tabs on them. In 2374, Starfleet Intelligence broke up a
cell of the Ah’sang who were working with a Dominion Vorta, gaining access to Federation
personnel and systems. After the Dominion War, Section 31 ran an operation of illegal creation
of Jentek slaves. While the operation was a success, the Ah’sang Syndicate still exists.

Known Orion Mercantile Beings

Erasmus Pry-Kadloc:
A Ruddy Orion Male, ruthless a Mercantile Governor of Olen-X planet
in the Orion held space in the Triangle. He is a scion of the house of
Pry.

Jarella Pry-Kadloc:
A Ruddy Orion female and daughter of the house of Kadloc. It is her
marriage to Erasmus that forged the two houses into one Great Family.
Jarella is the head of the Ah’sang Syndicate. A powerful manipulator,
highly intelligent, like many female Orions she has found more power in
working in the shadows then in the limelight. Only a select few know
that she runs the Ah’sang Syndicate.

Kaleel:
A Green Orion male, cold and ruthless. Kaleel has had multiple
cybernetic enhancements done to himself. He is the captain of the
Ah’sang Syndicate, answering only to Jarella herself. What scant records
there are of the organization of the Syndicate indicate that he is the head
of the organization.

Baron Iblis:
A human male. A common misconception is that the Orions only use
their own race for administration and businesses. This is actually not true
and while not common, it is not unheard of to find another being in
charge of Orion held operations. Iblis was contracted to run Nimrod and
its holdings when the Orion Lifaq Family ceased to be viable twenty
years ago.
42 | P a g e

Captain Aziz:
An Orion Green male and captain of the Corsair class Scourer.
One of the premier ships in the Orion Mercantile fleet. He
maintains the defenses of the Orion Mercantile region.

Gelnon:
A Vorta male clone. Gelnon acts as the major domo for Erasmus
and Jarella. He is also a lieutenant in the Ah’sang faction. When
the Dominion War ended, he and a few other Vorta elected to stay
behind. He found working with the Ah’sang to be more fulfilling
than returning to the Gamma Quadrant.

Kilana:
A Vorta female clone. Kilana serves Baron Erasmus on Nimrod.
She commands a company of Jem’hadar in Erasmus’ service.

Master Eligos:
Trion male. Eligos is the administrator of for the industrial workers
on Nimrod. He is a Trion geneticist with a predilection for being with
other races. Like most Trions he comes across as arrogant. He has a
deep interest in the genetic makeup of various beings and is adept at
cloning and genetic manipulation.

Orion Mercantile Planets

Olen-X
Olen-X is the jewel of Orion Mercantile held space. A cool terrestrial planet, it was originally
chartered by Lithan Trade Developments, and was fully owned by the Orion Lithan family, until
the last member, Tali Lithan passed away in 2300, where the planet came under the ownership of
Flemel Pry. Over the course of the next eighty years, the Orions became more dominant and
pushed out anyone they felt was competition. Now Olen-X is one of the largest trading worlds in
the Triangle Sector, with several banking institutions that surpass even Kirkbride’s on Comstock.
From Olen-X, the current Pry-Kadloc clan control virtually all aspects of Orion politics and
business within the Triangle.
Doo III
In the mid-23rd century, Doo III was on its way to becoming a rival trade center to Olen-X.
Originally a small trade and industrial center, under the control of the Orion Lifaq family, it
began to enjoy great success with trade agreements with the Federation. Along with Nimrod, the
Lifaq family was poised to gain full control over Orion interests in the Triangle Sector. However,
when relative peace came to the Triangle and the Pry and Kadloc families began to make
inroads, the Lifaq family eventually fell. By 2340, the Kadloc family gained full control over
both Doo III and Nimrod.
Nimrod
While Doo III is a major trading center, Nimrod leans more towards mining and industrial
endeavours. Trade on Nimrod is consisting of imports such as technology and Tylium, and
exports such as raw minerals and completed heavy machinery. Workers are often a combination
of paid labor specialists and prison labor for the hazardous work.
Laldan
Laldan is the breadbasket for the Orion Mercantile. The entire planet is devoted to food and
textile work for the other three planets. It is also one of three planets in the galaxy that produces
quality Ambrosia (the other three are the Mantiev Coalition planets; Basilisk and Jav.) Ambrosia
is a smooth sweet liqueur. The type produced on Laldan is red in color and is considered to be
the middle quality of the three.

Orion Mercantile Military

The Orion Mercantile military is fairly limited, compared to the other interplanetary
governments in the Triangle Sector. For planetary protection, the Mercantile fleet is composed of
nine Orion Corsair class cruisers and additional twenty-four Son’a frigates.

Orion Corsair Class Cruiser

The Corsair is an Orion heavy cruiser. A heavily armed capital ship that can handle long range
missions, although it is mostly used for defense. Like all Orion ships, the corsairs are leased by
Orion Mercantile to the captains.

Specifications:
Length: 480 meters Beam: 190 meters
Decks: 12 Crew Compliment: 80 officers. 220 enlisted.

Son’a frigate
When the Son’a fragmented in 2376 the Orion Mercantile scooped up the remaining Son’a fleet
of frigates and incorporated them into their defense fleet. Son’a frigates carry typical armaments
of eight phaser banks and two torpedo launchers fore and aft. The majority of the ship is
automated allowing for smaller crews and minimal costs.

Specifications:
Length: 310 meters Beam: 225 meters
Decks: 10 Crew Compliment: 10 officers. 100 enlisted.

The Klingons originally acquired saw the Triangle as another area of expansion, but after years
of conflict with other powers the Triangle became less of a priority. Now while rebuilding from
the aftermath of the Dominion War, the Klingons are looking to their territories within once
again. Most of the planets are still militaristic in nature, but over the decades has become more
trade orientated. Piracy, which was once winked at by the Empire to cause trouble with the
Federation has now been officially disallowed. Young Klingon commanders will sometimes go
on patrols looking for pirates or other targets to test their mettle and achieve renown with. The
Klingons maintain two starbases and two major outposts within the Triangle, the only one of the
three great powers to do so.
For centuries the Klingons have maintained control over four planetary systems within the
Triangle itself, although the history between those planets and the Klingon Empire proper have
been strained at times.

Klingon Border Planets include; K’Goygirk, K’Gamosh, Ganarra, Solkath, Granash, Kachtulla,
Kannaga, K’Kaar, K’Tazza, K’Tnnam, Lantos, Lazarra, Marram, M’Raarda, M’Rang, Qurellet,
K’Grayr, Veneradt, Verianne
Klingon Free States include; K’Linsann, Kinarra, Griss, and Mattara.

Known Imperial Klingons

Chancellor Martok: Head of House Martok and

Chancellor of the Klingon Empire. He is a warrior through and
through, having risen through the ranks to become a high ranking
general during the Dominion War. Martok was born from a common
family, which has become an issue amongst some of the other
Klingon Noble Houses of late. He is trying to keep his empire secure
and rebuild from the destruction of the Dominion War.

Emperor Kahless II:

The spiritual leader of the Klingon Empire. A clone that was
originally intended to take over the Empire from Chancellor
Gowron, but instead, to avoid another civil war, he became the
Imperial Figure Head and acts as spiritual leader for the Klingon
peoples.

Colonel Pal’Gwe:
Intelligence Officer and loyal to Martok and the Klingon Empire.
Pal’Gwe has traveled extensively throughout the Alpha Quadrant in
his service. He is known for entering into martial combat
tournaments whenever he can and appears to be more tolerant of
non-Klingons than most of his kind. He has known the Trill Tier
for many years and the two of them are best of friends.

Captain Drex:
Chancellor Martok’s son and the commanding officer of the IKS
D’Obak, a K’Tinga class battlecruiser assigned to patrol the Triangle
Sector.
47 | P a g e

Lieutenant Alexander son of Worf:

Weapons officer aboard the D’Obak. Still considered to be a young
officer, Alexander has gained accolades for his bravery.

Commander Vixis:
Executive Officer of the D’Obak and lover of Captain Drex. They
have been fighting side by side since their time in the Dominion War.

General Shuk:
The Klingon liaison with the Federation for the Triangle Sector. An
old war horse, and Dahar master. He has a special relationship with
Commodore Biko.
48 | P a g e

Known Free State Klingons

Overlord Kroziz:
Overlord Kroziz of the House of Konjah is a decorated warrior of the
Klingon Empire. An adherent to Chancellor Gowron, he was witness
to the death of the Chancellor at the hands of Worf son of Mogh.
Initially he called for Worf to become Chancellor, but when he refused
and instead promoted Martok to the position, Kroziz accepted it as
Martok had proven himself and able general. However, after five
years, he has chafed under Martok and is making his own claim to the
Chancellorship. When the claim initially faltered, Kroziz went to the
Klingon Free States in the Triangle Sector and took over as Overlord.

Captain Shang:
A an operative for Kroziz. A capable officer and warrior. Shang has
personally served under Kroziz throughout the Dominion War, and was
one of the first on the ground when taking the Cardassian home world.

Commander Baktal son of K’tal:

An operative for Kroziz. Short tempered and violent, even by Klingon
standards.

Commander Orav:
An IKS Intelligence Officer under General Kroziz. She is a brilliant
strategist and keeps herself well-guarded at all time.
49 | P a g e

Captain Toral:
The last scion of the House of Duras, he was the proposed contender to
the Chancellor seat of the Klingon Empire, fostered by his aunts Lursa
and Betor. After his defeat by Gowron and the deaths of his aunts, Toral
spent years searching for honor and glory before settling in the Free
Klingon States.

Free Klingon States

The Free Klingon States are a collection of four planets within the Triangle Sector located in the
lower region between Klingon and Romulan space. The Klingon Empire gained control of these
four planets during the first Klingon Romulan War in 2041. A year later the Klingon Empire
formally declares these planets as part of the Klingon Empire, naming the area of space The
Imperial Klingon States.
A little over a hundred years Klingon Fleet Admiral Kamato led a failed coup against Klingon
Chancellor L’Rell after the Klingon Federation War in 2257 and retreated to the Imperial
Klingon States in the Triangle Sector. Within a few years, Kamato fell in combat after a
confrontation with his own chief of staff, Admiral Kepel. Kepel took on the mantel of Overlord
and ruled the IKS for a further seventy-five years. During this time, he was able to negotiate a
series of deals with the Klingon High Council which allowed him to remain in power and for the
Empire to operate within the Triangle under the cover of these renegades.
When the Khitomer Treaty was signed between the Federation and the Klingon Chancellor
Azetbur, Kepel withdrew formal relations with the Klingon Empire and declared the IKS as the
Klingon Free States.
In 2338 Kepel himself died under mysterious circumstances, and the new Overlord, Kivat came
to power. Kivat’s rule as Overlord continued through to the Dominion War. Overlord Kivat
maintained close ties with Chancellors K’mpec but backed the House of Duras during the
Klingon Civil War of 2367. When Gowron became Chancellor, those loyal to Duras fled to the
KFS and relations between the two states became strained once more. Overlord Kivat
strengthened ties with Gowron once more, during the Dominion War, when the KFS pledged
support for the defense of the Alpha Quadrant. The war took a heavy toll on the KFS, reducing
their small fleet down to only three squadrons of ships between the four planets. With the death
of Gowron and the accession of Martok to the Chancellery in 2375, Kivat reaffirmed his ties to
the High Chancellor, but five years later in 2380, a coup attempt was led by General Kroziz
against Martok. The coup floundered and Kroziz, like Kamato before him, took refuge in the
Klingon Free States. Within short order Kroziz kills Overlord Kivat and takes control of the
government.

Klingon Free States Planets:

K’Linsaan
The central world of the Klingon Free States. K’Linsaan has been built up over the years. It
holds the main shipyards for the KFS Fleet. The capitol city, Klinzhai, includes a version of the
High Council chambers on Kronos. From there the Klingon Overlord rules his own council and
the KFS domains. Aside from the central government, a large section of the planet is devoted to
arms manufacture and ship repair. As of now, they still have not been able to create a suitable
large scale shipyard facility.
Kinarra
A predominantly desert planet, Kinarra affords few luxuries, just the way Klingon’s like it.
Military training is conducted on Kinarra.
Griss
The planet Griss is the closest Klingon territory to the Romulan border. Over the years it has
been the initial staging ground and outpost for Klingon incursions into Romulan space. As such
it is also the most heavily fortified as well. Part listening post, part garrison. The Free Klingon
States Division of Romulan Affairs is housed there. A tachyon detection grid is set up around the
area to keep, maintained by heavily armed Klingon space stations.
Okrand
Okrand is a large dilithium production planet. The Free Klingons have used it to their advantage
over the years. Production and trade of the dilithium is strictly handled by the Klingon Free State
Council. What is not used for their own fleet is sold to various groups and governments to keep
the KFS well-funded.

Imperial Klingon Border Planets

Along with the nineteen planets within the Imperial Klingon border, the Klingon military
maintains four Z-4E class starbases which act as depots and surveillance posts for military
patrols and border security. Command of these bases tends to fall to officers who have passed
their prime. The four bases are; Ch'targh, Gi'ral, Kretorg, and Biroq. Six of the Imperial Border
planets are located in the Upper Region of the Triangle Sector. Their focus is often on
Federation, Orion, and Mantiev activities, including espionage, patrols and trade. Several of the
border planets have changed ownership in the early 23rd century due to the shifting boundaries
and conflict. By the late 23rd century the Klingon border had solidified and by the early 24th
century, the Klingons took to renaming some of the planets they owned with more Klingon
sounding names. The Lower Region of the Triangle Sector is dominated by two interests to the
Klingon Empire. The first is the Klingon Free States, a source of problems for the Klingon
Empire from time to time and currently a hot bed of intrigue after Krozis took over as Overlord
of the Klingon Free States. The second is that the “bottom” of the Triangle Sector is the closest
points between the Klingon and Romulan borders. The “loS” are the four most bottom planets
are the closest in proximity to the Romulan border and are held as a strategic point. It is a mixed
bag for Klingons to be stationed there as it is considered a position of trust to protect the border
there, but also few opportunities for glory as the Romulans are not known to attack that area for
some time.

Kannaga
While considered to be a metal poor planet, and not good for mining, Kannaga has always
maintained an immense strategic position in the Upper Region of the Triangle Sector. It is the
closest major military base to the Federation in this sector. And for years prior to the Treaty of
Khitomer it was geared towards actions against the Federation. As it was considered a key place
of honor to be stationed there, many Klingon families had settled there over time, giving rise to
large cities.
The Klingon still maintains a heavy, albeit reduced, military presence with four squadrons
operating out of the Starbase located there. Kannaga also is home to the Klingon Intelligence
Service operations for the Triangle Sector. Even to this day the Klingons are very cautious about
allowing non-Klingons in the area and will often intercept any ship that strays into their area of
operation.
K’Grayr (Formerly Ribald Quest)
In the early 23rd century, K’Grayr was originally colonized by Luciano Questriano, a Federation
explorer who named the planet Ribald Quest. At the time of its discovery, the planet was in
neutral and open space. That changed dramatically during the Klingon Federation War, when the
Klingons took the planet by force. The Klingons had renamed the planet K’Grayr, however the
Federation continued to refer to it as Ribald Quest until after the Khitomer Treaty.
KG’rayr is predominantly an agrarian planet, but it also has a flourishing gem production and
cutting community. Klingon artisans have passed down their skill of hand cutting and shaping
gems for generations and are prized throughout the Empire.
Solkath (formerly Haven)
A predominantly water world, it is still considered to be rich in deep ocean minerals. For most of
the 23rd century, the planet was under the management of a human who went by the Klingon
52 | P a g e

name of Q’Kuattr. He had already established a mining facility on the planet when the Klingons
took control. An able negotiator he convinced the Klingons to allow him to rule their planet in
the name of the Klingon Empire. A military garrison had been installed to keep an eye on
Q’Kuattr, commanded by Commander Kaz. Using predominantly slave labor either bought from
various sources or prisoners provided by the Klingon Empire. Even to this day, criminals caught
by the Klingon Empire in this region of space are sentenced to hard labor on Solkath. Q’Kuattr,
passed away from old age in the late 23rd century, and the administration of the planet has been
taken up by Dror of the House of Kaz.
Granash (Formerly Johnny’s Retreat)
Just within the habitable zone of planetary systems, Granash is an arctic wasteland of a planet.
Aside from a breathable atmosphere, there is little it has to offer. In 2257, a former Federation
officer named John Farlo established a colonial retreat, to quite literally “get away from it all.”
The planet fell under the Klingon sphere of influence by the end of the Klingon Federation War.
Farlo, made a choice; in exchange for letting him and his colony be, he would sell information to
the Klingons. And so Farlo set up a neutral location where information could be bought and sold.
For a number of years, after Farlo’s passing, the Empire used altered Klingons continue on the
ruse of descendants of Farlo continuing on in the family business. By the mid-2350s, the Klingon
Empire had begun using the planet for research purposes, although the exact nature is not known.
The planet was formerly recognized by the Klingon designation of Granash with the Khitomer
Treaty.
Mraarda
A large moss-covered planet, Mraada has undergone extensive strip mining in the 23rd century,
by the Klingon Empire. Yet another example of an over mined prison planet that was common
Klingon practice. Despite the strip minin practices of the Klingons, the planet’s vegetation
continued to grow back over and over. The moss would get everywhere and if the Klingons were
not careful it would spread through their facilities. Today most of the mining operations have
been shuttered as the mineral sources have dried up. The Klingons maintain the barest of
presences on the planet now.
Ganarra
A primordial planet, Ganarra has been a Klingon training planet for more than a century. The
planet is home to many indigenous and lethal creatures, including a flying apex creature that the
Klingons call Ram’Hegh, “Night Death”. Ram’Hegh’s have tough skin and large talons that
secret poison. Their high-pitched screams disorient their prey.
Lazarra
Originally another training and garrison planet for the Imperial Klingon Forces, Lazarra has
become rundown and neglected over the years since the Khitomer Treaty. A resource poor
planet, it is having managed to remain underdeveloped even into the 24th century.
Kachtulla
The Klingons have maintained control over the planet and the native Katchullan population since
the Klingon Federation War. For most of the 23rd century it was considered to be of little
strategic importance, and isolated. However, when the Klingon Free States fully declared their
independence, the military garrison has been built up to include a sizable Starbase from which
the Empire can launch ships directly into the Lower Region of the Triangle if necessary.

K’Goygirk (Formerly Bandage)

A former independent hospital planet, known for its mineral springs, until the Klingons took
control of it. Since then, it has been used as a treatment center for Klingon troops all along the
border of the Triangle. The original medical staff are now long gone and the Klingons have taken
to naming the planet K’Goygirk.
Hoch (Formerly Eternity)
The first settlement on the planet was a Terran religious sect that named it “Eternity”. The
Terrans did not last long after the Klingons took over. A cool temperate planet, known for its
pockets of Tylium gas. The Klingons maintain mining facility. Over the years the planet lost its
Terran name and is often referred to by the Klingon language version “Hoch”. K’gamosh is the
central trading capital of the planet.
K’Tazza
The Klingons did not full take control of K’Tazza until 2265. Originally intended to be yet
another garrison outpost planet, Klingon explorers also discovered several veins of an Acta
crytals. Unlike most Klingon mining operations, the Acta mines are small operations, owing to
the geological fault lines where the Acta veins are located.
K’Tinnam
One of two major military installations in close proximity to the Klingon Free States region of
space, K’Tinnam serves as both military checkpoint and gateway to the KFS. The High Council
has kept a tight rein on the planet as it could easily be used as a foothold into Imperial Klingon
Space by Klingons sympathetic to the ideals of the KFS.
It also serves as a trading hub for that region of the Triangle.
Veneradt
The second major Klingon military outpost in relation to the Klingon Free States, Veneradt is
ringed by four large orbital stations. Originally a Romulan colony generations ago, the hostile
cold environment is also home to a military training facility and oddly enough a loan Klingon
monastery as well.
M’Rang
As border planet’s go, M’Rang is not your typical Klingon planet. A low gravity with a large
lush tropical equator, it is known for producing a variety of tasty fruits. The Klingons themselves
are not fond of the taste, but have found that they are appreciated by other species. To that end
the Klingons have allowed a sizable farming population to live on the planet. Klingon
administrators tend to be fairly lax with the civilians in return for the tariffs made from the
selling or trading of the fruits. Like all of the border planets, a heavily armed station remains in
orbit.
Verianne
For over a century the Klingons have found the planet Verianne to be barely useful. A bleak
desert planet, the Klingons maintain a training base on the planet surface and a single small
orbital station.
K’Kaar
Located at the closing point at the bottom end of the Triangle Sector, K’Kaar lays just one parsec
away from the established border. The Romulans maintain a star base equal distant on their side
of the border.
Given its strategic location, the Klingon Empire maintains a strong military presence in and
around K’Kaar. At the height of the Klingon Romulan relationship in the latter half of the 23rd
54 | P a g e

century, K’Kaar was often used as a trading point between the two empires. With the hostilities
that occurred in the 24th century, the planet has been a location for some of the most intense
fighting. Tachyon nets and regular patrols are maintained at all times in that region.
Lantos
Another earth like planet that Terrans tried to colonize in the 23rd century. Aside from its close
proximity to the Romulan border, the Klingons have held very little interest in the planet. From
2255 to 2293 it was home to a one of the many Terran religious sects that went off into the stars
looking for a new colony. The Klingons maintain an orbital station near Lantos but have pretty
much left the planet itself alone. A few mining operations are still working but the rest of the
planet has been left in its pristine condition.
Marram
The planet Marram was heavily built up by the Klingon Empire between 2260 and 2270, despite
the then current agreement with the Romulans, the Klingons never did fully trust them. This
worked out for them when the Romulans did try to invade through Klingon space in 2344. Today
Marram holds the shipyard repair facilities for the Klingon squadrons in that area.
Qurellet
A strategic planet with a turbulent history, Qurellet is the anchor point for the Klingon border in
the Triangle. The local population has held several uprisings against the Klingons who rule the
planet, often with covert help from the Romulans. The last great uprising was in 2344, when the
Romulans tried to invade the area. The Klingons finally put an end to it after they slaughtered the
last of the rebel leaders.

Klingon Free State Navy

There are four habitable planets within the Klingon Free States zone, as well as several small
battle stations positioned throughout the area. Like the Imperial Klingon fleet, the KFS Navy is
divided into squadrons. By the late 2370’s the Klingon Free State Navy is predominantly
composed of older model starships, mostly made up of K’Vort class birds of prey. About a half
dozen Vor’Cha class heavy battle ships are also in use by ranking KFS commanders. In 2380,
when Kroziz took over the KFS, he brought with him six full squadrons of newer ships
augmenting the KFS fleet to a total of eleven squadrons numbering 90 ships. A sizable fleet
indeed. The KFS Navy includes three of the new Bortasqu class warships, one Negh’Var class
warship, thirty of the new Tor’Khat class Birds of Prey, another thirty of the Qu’Daj class assault
ship and the remaining twenty-six ships are comprised of the older K’Vort class Birds of Prey.

Klingon Starships
Negh’Var

The Negh’Var Class Battleship forms the backbone of the Klingon Fleets. Entering service in
2372, it quickly became heavily relied upon during the Dominion War. The versatility of the
Negh’Var is the modular design allowing for multiple variations of the ship to be built on the
same keel design. By 2380, five separate variants have been produced with a sixth under
development.
Specifications:
Length: 682 meters Beam: 470 meters
Decks: 39 Crew Compliment: 500 officers. 2,000 enlisted.
56 | P a g e

Qu’Daj Class Assault Transport

The most troublesome of the new ships that have been commandeered by Kroziz’ Raiders is the
assault transports. These are large attacking craft with multiple shuttle bays and large transporter
capabilities for launching a boarding action or ground base attacks. Built on the same keel as the
Negh’Var Battleship, the Qu’Daj is designed to deploy an invading force with virtually no
warning.
Specifications:
Length: 682 meters Beam: 470 meters
Decks: 39 Crew Compliment: 500 officers. 2,000 enlisted.

K’Vort Bird of Prey

The K’Vort Bird of Prey design is the oldest and most versatile ship design in the Klingon fleet.
First introduced into service in 2277, the Bird of Prey is still in use a hundred years later.
Although the design is being phased out and replace by the newer Tor’Khat class. The Klingons
used this design extensively during the Dominion War as smaller attack craft.
Specifications:
Length: 109 meters Beam: 92 meters
Decks: 4 Crew Compliment: 4 officers, 8 enlisted.
57 | P a g e

Tor’Khat Bird of Prey

The new Tor’Khat Bird of Prey Fast Attack Cruiser was designed to replace the K’Vort and
B’rel class Birds of Prey. Reports indicate that it has taken design cues from the Defiant Class
escort ships, including pulse disruptors and ablative armor.
Specifications:
Length: 120 meters Beam: 92 meters
Decks: 4 Crew Compliment: 8 officers, 12 enlisted.

K’Tinga Class Battle Cruiser

The K’Tinga Class Battle Cruiser follows the traditional Klingon D7 design that has been in use
for ages. The first K’Tinga designs were fielded in 2270 and was prized for its sturdiness.
Unfortunately, the Dominion War decimated most of these ships. The ones that are still in
service are used for long range patrols and other actions.
Specifications:
Length: 246 meters Beam: 160 meters
Decks: 9 Crew Compliment: 210 officers. 300 enlisted.
58 | P a g e

Kor Class Cruiser

The Kor Class Cruiser is the replacement to the K’Tinga design. While the differences may seem
cosmetic, the Kor carries ablative armor and unique forward torpedo launcher that fires both
forward and laterally.
Specifications:
Length: 235 meters Beam: 155 meters
Decks: 9 Crew Compliment: 150 officers, 250 enlisted.

Kahless Class Dreadnought

The Kahless Dreadnought is the largest ship in the Klingon fleet and is the Flagship of the High
Chancellor himself. Aside from being the most heavily armed ship, the Kahless also boasts a
secondary power system devoted to alternating three shield power nodes, allowing the
dreadnought to stay in a fight longer than virtually any other ship. The ship also acts as both a
command-and-control center, which allows the Chancellor to conduct an entire fleet of
operations and a mobile High Council chamber. The ship also boasts a tachyon emitter which
can be used to detect cloaked ships within its vicinity.
Specifications:
Length: 1,350 meters Beam: 890 meters
Decks: 12 Crew Compliment: 600 officers, 4,000 enlisted.

The Romulan border with the Triangle is the longest and most thinly populated of those held by
the three major powers. Though they have been in the region longer than the UFP or the
Klingons, their concentration of resources has been elsewhere.
The Romulan Star Empire enjoyed a brief alliance with the Klingon Empire in the 2260s, sharing
technology and ship designs. Eventually the Klingons started to chafe and feel that they were
being used by the Romulans as proxy agents against the Federation, which in truth they were.
The final collaborative operation between the two was the Tal’Shiar plot with Klingon General
Chang to assassinate the High Chancellor and galvanize a war with the Federation. Captain
James Kirk’s intervention not only stopped the operation but also exposed the Romulan
government’s involvement. When the Khitomer Treaty was signed in 2393, the Romulan
government withdrew from alliances with the Klingons. Conflicts arose dramatically against
both the Federation and the Klingons, spearheaded by the bitter Romulan Praetor Sumac. The
resulting clashes led to the infamous Tomed Incident in 2311 with the Federation, which led to
the Romulans withdrawing from virtually all interplanetary affairs. In the 2340s, Praetor Sumac
escalated conflicts with the Klingons, including several battles and a final campaign to take
control of the Lower Region of the Triangle Sector. The campaign was ultimately a failure and
Sumac was forced into retirement.
During the Dominion War, the Romulans were initially neutral, but were eventually convinced to
join the alliance against the Dominion, committing ships and resources to win the war. Hard
fought but victorious, the war was not without costs. The Romulan Empire is currently critically
short of ships and trained military personnel. Coupled with the recent Reman Coup attempt in
2379 has brought the Romulan Empire to its weakest point in history. While the Romulans do
not maintain larger numbers of planets in comparison to the other governments, they are still a
presence within the sector. Romulan ships continue to patrol the borders keenly and operatives
and members are active throughout the sector. The military goal of the Star Empire is to maintain
a defense against any encroachment by the UFP or the Klingon Empire. Starfleet Intelligence
reports have indicated that some pirate factions within the Triangle are supported and profit for
the Romulan Empire.

Romulan Border Planets

Very little has changed with the Romulan border planets over the last century and a half. The
Romulan Star Empire maintains a limited military presence along the border preferring to
centralize their forces for the defense of the Romulan core worlds. Most of the border planets are
open to trade and contact with Et’reim’nai, so called non-Romulans. Core Romulans tend to
think of those along the border as being more decadent and less conservative.
Aside from the nineteen planets along the border lines, the Romulans maintain three major
starbases, Minaudh, Aeh'lla, and Rocna.

Starbase minaudh
Minaudh is one of two of the larger starbases supporting the Romulan border of the upper region
of the Triangle Sector. It is the home base for Commander Sela and has a sizable Tal’Shiar
operation. It is from this station that most of the surveillance sorties are launched.
Starbase Eio’Re
Eio’Re is placed midway along the Romulan border and acts as a major relay station for border
security. Supported by the planets Bu’uli Tev and Fancam, it is also the central hub for Romulan
military activities.
Starbase Rocna
The Rocna station is located the very bottom of the lower region of the Triangle Sector. A
primary military post, Rocna maintains a squadron of warbirds to keep in case either the Klingon
Free States or the Imperial Klingon government tries to assault the Romulan Star Empire. While
it is considered a remote post, the Romulans stationed there, considered it a source of pride that
they are defenders of the Empire.
62 | P a g e

B’Lev
A single planet in the B’Lev star system, its only real distinction is that it is a major
communication relay center between the upper and lower regions of the Triangle Sector. The
planet itself is has a thin arctic atmosphere. The Romulans military maintains an orbiting base of
roughly seventy personnel. Overall being assigned to B’Lev is considered an act of punishment.
Broz
A vast water world with a single continent. The Romulans had found several natural metals
useful in creating ship building alloys. In the mid-23rd century, when the Romulans first appeared
on the planet, the indigenous population took them to a god like race and the technology they use
as a form of magic. Taking advantage of this, the Romulans use the primitives as labor force for
the mining effort. Even after years of interaction the Romulans have managed to keep up the
charade, maintaining small Romulan contingent on the planet’s surface of no more than fifty at
any given time. Since the beginning of their control over the planet, the Romulans have had three
governors on Broz. The current Romulan Governor Damu enjoys the lifestyle of deity and lives
in a palatial estate. Offworlders are strictly regulate and sparse.
Bu’uli Tev
A bread basket planet for the Romulan Star Empire, the original flora was considered to be
unsophisticated and inferior to the Romulan diet, however they soon learned that the nutrient rich
soils were perfect for Romulan flora. Entire farms bloomed with little tending. The original
agriculture colony numbered around 150,000 residents in the mid-23rd century, by the mid-24th
century that number has swelled to a million Romulan citizens and an additional 50,000 Remans.
Bu’uli Tev is also one of the most heavily garrisoned planets as well, due to its close proximity
to the Klingon Free State planet Griss. An orbital station serves as both defense and monitoring
post, which includes a squadron of Aehallh class scout ships and a D’Dederidex Class Warbird
that constantly patrols the region. It is also backed up by Stabase Eio’Re which doubles as a
secondary shipyard.
Chak
On star maps, Chak is a single gas giant planet in the system, but it is the moon, Aidoann that
orbits it, that is more important. For all outward appearances it is just another planetoid in space,
which is exactly what the Romulans want. In reality it is a Tal’Shiar base buried deep under the
moon’s surface. At its height roughly two hundred Romulan agents worked at the base, but it
now reduced by half. A single small relay station is in orbit near the gas giant acts as the gateway
to Aidoann.
Ch’Lestram
An agricultural world it is one of the few open trade worlds along the Romulan border. It is
known for producing steva, a genetically engineered plant whose fibers act can be woven into
meats as a spice. Aside from the steva, Ch’Lestram is a known merchant trading center and has a
sizable Romulan Ale production. The locals pride themselves on selling high quality ale to
outworld traders, to show off the quality of Romulus.
D’Kornam
One of the casualties of the early Klingon Romulan War, D’Kornam was a thriving colony for
the Romulan Empire. A secret Klingon terror team travelled to the planet and released an
experimental mutagen agent into the atmosphere. The agent caused rabid and terrible alterations
to the DNA strands of all living things on the planet. The resulting effect had horrible and long
ranging effects. All of the Romulan colonists died within days and virtually all of the plant life
withered, albeit a few adapted and survived. The entire star system is ringed with warning bouys
63 | P a g e

and the planet is still considered quarantine. The event was considered to be dishonorable by the
Klingon High Council, resulting in the entire squad and the commanding officer who ordered the
operation to be undergo the Mauk-to’bet an honor killing of a Klingon by a chosen member of
their family to avoid dishonor upon the whole house.
D’Latta
The fourth planet in the D’Latta system, D’Latta IV is a class K planet surrounded by an overly
large thick atmosphere. Outwardly it is considered to a dilithium mining planet, but the reality is
that it is a forward operating base across from the Federation border at its closest point. A
squadron of Mandukan Class Gunboats are stationed in low orbit over the planet, shielded by the
dense gasses. Their only mission is to strike at an invading Federation fleet should they cross the
border, such a delaying tactic would give pause to Starfleet and enough warning for the main
Romulan fleet to have time to engage.
Fan’Cam
The Romulan Empire built up the industrialization of Fan’cam to provide weaponry to
independent worlds in the lower region of the Triangle. What had started as a program to stymie
the Klingon Free States, has turned into a profitable program for the Imperial Senate. Like Bu’uli
Tev, Fan’cam is supported by nearby Romulan Starbase Eio’Re, in case the Klingons decide that
the production facilities are too tempting of a target.
H’Lass
A tropical class M planet, H’Lass is predominantly owned and maintained by the Charvanek
family for generations. For years it specialized in mining equipment to independent worlds, but
mainly functions as a trade world. While there is a military presence on H’Lass, the security and
administration are held in private hands. The Chavaneks have managed to obtain near exclusive
contracts with the independent planet Comstock, which includes allowances for the Comstock
Sentinels to operate on H’Lass as extradition agents.
Kurrg Durl
Originally a Klingon outpost in the lower region of the Triangle, Kurrg Dual was taken by the
Romulans at great cost. The remnants of the Klingon military installation stand to this day as
reminder that the Klingons cannot stand in the way of the Romulans forever. These days it is just
another Romulan colony, with mostly agricultural compounds and a strong trading port.
Lasutelvan
During the Earth Romulan War, the Lasutelvan was the focus of a major battle between the two
forces. The battle was fiercely fought, and while the Romulans suffered extensive casualties,
they scored a major victory over Earth forces. Commander Lasus, who led the Romulan Cohort
was awarded the title of Terranus for her victory over the Earth forces. Afterwards dilithium
deposits were found on the sixth planet. In current times Lasutelvan VI is used as a supply planet
for Starbase Minaudh. For this reason, non-outworld vessels are not allowed to cross into the
Lasutelvan system.
Manduksivas
For years the planet Manduksivas has been a hotbed of discontent. Most of it was due to the
disproportionate removal of planetary resources for military expansion without just
compensation. When the Star Empire began a self-imposed exile, most of these tensions eased.
Now adays, Manduksivas serves as an enjoyable planet for the military garrison from the
Minaudh Starbase nearby.
64 | P a g e

M’Lavolem
A water world in the Stelam Diol binary system, the water covered planet of M’lavolem was
used originally for aquafarming. The planet is also teeming with various aquatic fauna and the
Romulans have found that the whale like creatures is a delicacy among the Romulan core worlds.
Fifty years ago, there was a great tectonic shift in the northern hemisphere and large volcanic
eruptions has created a series of islands. Romulan under water compounds have given way to
small communities on several of these newer islands. These communities have in turn become a
tourist destination for core world Romulans.
Navassa V
The sea level of Navassa is not quite as high as that of M’Lavolem, but it is high enough that the
peaks of underwater mountain ranges create millions of islands across the surface. Navassa is
also home to a sizable Reman population, who act as deep-sea divers, working in conjunction
with Romulan sailors who ply their trade on the surface. Navassa trained seaman are considered
some of the best in the Star Empire and have found lucrative employment on other worlds as
experienced mariners.
Renarvasm
Like nearby R’o, Renarvasm saw some of the most intense fighting during the early Romulan
Klingon War. It is stilled considered a source of pride that the military garrison was able to hold
back wave after wave of Klingons during the war. Although a predominantly desert planet,
Renarvasm maintains a steady mining production facility. The families that still live there,
consider it a source of pride in military service and they have the highest numbers of military
service than any of the border planets and rival even several of the core worlds as well.
R’O
R’o is a strategic planet along the Klingon Romulan borders. Like Renarvasm, the R’o system
was the scene of intense fighting during the Romulan Klingon War. During the mid-23rd century
it was a solid Acta Crystal mining planet. Most of the veins were found in the highlands of the
mountain regions, the thin air in the mountains requires even experienced Romulans to require
breathing aids. The geological instability that produces the Acta Crystals, was always a concern
for Romulan geologists who warned of possible devastating earthquakes. The miners considered
the risks to be worth the rewards. In the year 2286, the geologists were proved right, and the
entire planet underwent massive seismic shifts. The geological changes were so massive and so
sudden that all of the Romulan mining facilities were destroyed and a quarter of the population
was not able to escape intime. Entire new canyons and mountain ranges were created in a matter
of days. After two years of instability, R’o finally calmed down, revealing new Acta crystal
deposits. To this day, the Romulan mining operations are conservative in nature to avoid a repeat
from almost a century ago.
R’Liman
Generations ago, the Romulans considered the planet as promising location for mining,
unfortunately it never panned out. An arctic planet with a heavy atmosphere, it has been used in
the past a pirate base by Orions and Nausicaans both. During the Dominion War, a Jem’Hadar
unit made basecamp there in the hopes of striking out against Romulan forces. Their operation
did not succeed as the military from Starbase Minaudh discovered them early on and were able
to obliterate the entire unit. The Romluan military routinely inspect R’Liman to prevent anyone
from using it.
65 | P a g e

T’Vant
A class K heavy mining penal planet in a system of gas giants and other class H planets, T’Vant
is rich in various valuable radioactive elements. Cold and generally inhospitable, the miners live
in habitable bio domes and have to wear special equipment to survive outside.
Yel’Camac
A varied climate Class M planet, Yel’Camac was originally surveyed to have had Acta crystal
mines. While these mines played out quickly, a unique form of amber was discovered across the
planet. At first what appeared to be a fiery red crystal, explorers soon figured out that it was
special amber secreted by trees along the equatorial zone of the planet. These fire crystals as
there called give off a continued warm glow and artisans have found ways to shape them into
various designs. Small creatures and insects that are trapped in the amber are considered to be
prized above others. These crystals have found attraction amongst the Orions and the Ferengi as
well as artisans living on the Federation planet Hyphaeon.

Romulan Fleet
Between the Dominion War and the attempted Reman Coup from just a year prior, the Romulan
Star Empire is in upheaval. While the Federation and Klingons maintain a strong military
presence in and around the Triangle Sector, the Romulan military has not. In order to give an
impression of strength, the Romulans have been using a select few warbirds to be seen from time
to time, but have relied almost entirely on smaller stealth ships to patrol along the borders and to
occasionally fly sorties around Federation and Klingon Outposts. The Tal’Shiar continues to
conduct undercover operations as well.

Aehallh Class Scout Ship

The Aehallh Class Scout Ship is a small scout vessel equipped with state-of-the-art cloaking
technology, surveillance, cryptography, and counter measures. While it is armed with standard
disruptors, the ships are also equipped with a focused ionic pulse cannon, capable of disrupting
shields long enough for the ship to get away if necessary.
Specifications:
Length: 44 meters Beam: 36 meters
Decks: 2 Crew Compliment: 1 Officer. 7 enlisted.
66 | P a g e

Valdore Class Warbird

The Valdore Class Warbird is one of the newest in the Romulan Fleet and the pinnacle of
Romulan naval technology. With the last of the old Nova Warbirds destroyed and the D’deridex
Class Warbirds greatly diminished in the Dominion War, Romulan military has been trying to
create a better fleet. Bristling with weapons, the Romulans are not taking any chances, as the
Valdore carries three times the firepower of its predecessor the D’deridex. For all of its fire power,
it is a smaller ship, overall, than the earlier D’Deridex class Warbirds.
Specifications:
Length: 603 meters Beam: 911 meters
Decks: 26 Crew Compliment: 150 Officers. 800 Enlisted.

D’deridex Class Warbird.

The last of the great warbirds, the D’Deridex Warbird was designed with intimidation in mind.
They were larger than even the Federation Galaxy Class Heavy Cruiser. Unfortunately, the
Dominion War taught the Romulans that bigger is not always better and 75% of the D’Deridex
ships were destroyed in the war. The few remaining active ships have been sent to the border
regions to give an impression of a larger and active fleet. Six of these routinely patrol along the
Romulan/Triangle Sector Border.
Specifications:
Length: 1,041 meters Beam: 772 meters
Decks: 82 Crew Compliment: 500 Officers. 1,000 Enlisted.
67 | P a g e

Mandukam Gunboat
Romulan gunboats are small attack craft mostly used against surface targets and small vessels.
While the scout crafts are filled with sensors, gunboats are geared for primarily for offensive
capabilities. Armed with two ventral disruptor banks, the Mandukam can pack a punch.
Typically, the Romulans use these gunboats for smaller targets, but a squadron of these can fight
in tandem and wreak havoc on larger starships, such as Federation Cruisers.
Specifications:
Length: 40 meters Beam: 36 meters
Decks: 2 Crew Compliment: Pilot, Navigator, Tactical, Engineer

The vast majority of the habitable planets in the Triangle sector were devoid of higher intelligent
life. Most of the current inhabitants are broad mix of humanoid life that has come from other star
systems. Roughly forty percent of the beings inhabiting the Triangle come from human stock. At
least thirty percent of the of the local beings come from the Bajoran and Troyian diasporas that
arrived in the Triangle Sector in the late 23rd and early 24th centuries. The remaining thirty
percent come from various humanoid races, ranging from Anticans to Bolians to Ferengi.
For the most part, populations on these independent worlds are relatively small and governments
range from clusters of camp settlements to city state trade centers to single world governments,
all with populations that barely top a couple of million. Here a person can claim an entire planet
as their own and call themselves a monarch. Local laws can vary from the most progressive to
downright draconian.

Sentinel Services

Sentinels are a private security firm based out of the planet Comstock. They provide personal
and mercantile security, law keeping and fugitive apprehension through warrants. Taking on
warrants to apprehend people or property, Agents are given high authority by their agency. As
part of their job, they swear to remain neutral in conflicts and owe no allegiance to any system,
government, or other organizations They act as a neutral party in all things to allow for greater
profitability. They operate most of the independent worlds within the Triangle Sector but also
have operated as fugitive apprehension agents even in the Mentiev Colonials and even into
Federation and Klingon Space.

They act per warrants and commissions. Commissions include law keeping for small colonies or
settlements, private security for mercantile groups and personal close quarter protections. They
also take warrants for the capture or kill of fugitives of various world governments. A complex
set of agreements are made when hiring Sentinels to avoid conflicts of interests.
Sentinels are a paramilitary organization with ranks and contracts forming the equivalent of a
foreign alien legionnaire corps.

Canute Militia

In 2370 a former Starfleet captain left Starfleet and ventured into the Triangle Sector for fame
and adventure. With several former Starfleet officers and a collection of mercenaries, he formed
his own militia. Operating under the name Hercules Canute, he became a successful profiteer,
pirate and mercenary during the Dominion War. Canute has a personal arrangement with the
ruler of the planet Acton, he and his men act as the secret police and security for Queen Merris.
Along with maintaining a personal base and residence on Acton, Canute’s main base of
operations is the nearby dwarf planet Gules. Canute has a squadron of combat capable starships,
all of which have cloaking technology.

Known Beings
Hercules Canute
Human male, Hercules is a former Starfleet captain named Nate
Bridger. Since leaving Starfleet, in 2370, he has racked up a number of
charges against him, including kidnapping, extorsion, piracy, murder,
illegal drug dealing, and brigandage. A highly intelligent and
experienced commander, Hercules has been working on adapting Borg
technology to his own ends. Hercules Canute is a brutal and intelligent
man who not only has managed to maintain one step in front of the
authorities but has collected a crew of loyal, highly skilled and
dangerous people.

Alister Thorne
Human male, former Starfleet Tactical Officer and combat veteran.
Thorne was investigated for profiteering during the Dominion War by
his commanding officer, Captain Declan. Declan was mysteriously
died and Thorne was court martialed for his murder, but was acquitted
due to lack of evidence. In turn Thorne quit Starfleet and made his
way to the Triangle Sector where he joined up with Canute.
70 | P a g e

Dominar
Very little is known about him. He is most likely a human male, with
major Borg modifications. However, he is not part of the Borg
collective nor does he act as a drone. Starfleet intelligence believes
that his primary function is to act as the coordinator for Canute’s so
called NuBorg drones.

Queen Merris of Acton

A female human, Merris is the current ruler of the planet Acton. Her
government has been more restrictive than past rulers, including an
introduction of a secret police. The military is loyal to her, and she
has given sanctuary to Hercules Canute and afforded his militia an
official status on Acton.

Dr. Tagnus
Doctor Tagnus is a male Federation citizen who has been
contracted by Kirkbride to oversee the archeological digs on the
planet.

Devon Warner .
The male human representative of Kirkbride, he will often act as the front
facing ambassador for the ruling board of directors. He is an able
negotiator and xenolinguist in his own right. Director Warner is
knowledgeable in the customs and behaviors of many of the races that
Kirkbride deals with.

Captain Sarigar Ser-5-9.

Jentek commanding officer in the Sentinel Services for Kirkbride. A
genetically engineered being, Sarigar is a trained officer, who
commands the respect of their subordinates and earns the respect
from their superiors. They are known to be practical at all times.

President Dilra Seh

Human female, head of the Amalgamated Trade Association on
Remfry. President Seh is a hard negotiator and capable politician. In
the two years that she has been in office, she has managed to keep all
of the independent Magistrars in line. No small feat, as they treat their
local areas as their own personal fiefdoms
.

President El Fiza
A male Troyian, El Fiza is the current President of Aarris. While
technically an independent planet, Aarris is also home to several
Orion families and they are the ones that wield true political power.
Many consider Fiza to be a mere figurehead of the Orion families.

Minnagus Glal
Glal became the head of the Ferengi Consortium on Lanroche two
years before the Dominion War broke out. He used the confusion to
his advantage. A former military officer, he survived four
assassination attempts. ousting the Orions from their positions on
Lanroche, Glal has won’t back down from aggressive beings who try
to throw their weight around. Since

Roana
Female Duroj merchant captain on Itlem. When the Durojan miners
arrived on what was once New Siberia they started from scratch,
rebuilding the Tylium mines. Roana has made a name for herself a
notable merchant of the Tylium. She will often come across as
arrogant but rewards those who do right by her.

Treybor
Little is known about the man called Treybor. What is known is that he
was born on Basilisk and trained and trained in the Mantiev military as a
special weapons and tactics officer. Years ago, he left the Mantiev
Coalition and struck out on his own. Backed by the Ah’song Orion
crime syndicate, Treybor set himself up as Warlord on Takanarra. He
has been known to work as a go between with the Klingon Free States
and the Orions.

Independent Planets
Comstock
Comstock is an independent trade world ruled by cabal of businessmen of the Kirkbride
Comstock. Much of the planet is hot and dry with large swaths of land considered unhabitable.
The planet’s native population is made up of two intelligent species types who have come to be
known as Sages and Brutes. The Sages are a vulpine like humanoid species with long ears, while
the Brutes are ape like in appearance. Both are highly intelligent creatures but due to the size
differences the Brutes take on more physical labor while the Sages tend to administration. The
capital is a large city that is home to over 9 million people, called Yeartes. It is located on the
shore of its polar sea where the temperatures can be quite temperate. Security is maintained by
the Kirkbride Comstock subsidiary Sentinel Company. Part bounty hunter, part law enforcement,
the Sentinels will take commissions by the other independent worlds as well.
As a trade world, virtually everything is for sale. Cargo ships use one of the five star-ports in
geosynchronous orbit over the northern hemispheres. While clients can purchase storage in
private warehouses, with top notch security. A thriving black market is also on the planet. Both
legitimate Orion Mercantile Guild and Orion Syndicates operate on the planet. As it is close to
both the Federation border AND Federation Protectorate Planets, Starfleet does maintain strong
patrols in its area, but is careful to not get too involved in Comstock’s internal actions.
The southern continents are homes to several cities and ruins of a previous civilization. The
Federation has been helping with a number of the dig sites over the years.
There are three moons that orbit Comstock; Hearst, Astor and Mellon, which the Kirkbride uses
for penal mining operations.
Remfry
Remfry is a trade world located centrally between the Klingon and Romulan controlled areas, the
Mantiev controlled space and the Klingon State Planets. Although endowed with very few
natural resources, the planet does very well trading with many of its neighbors. There are no
tariffs on Remfry, but the knowledgeable trader should expect to pay his share of “bribes and
squeeze." Being close to both the Klingon and Romulan borders, there is a healthy black-market
trade in their goods. Because of this close proximity there are a number of both Klingon AND
Romulan citizens on the planet. Which also means Romulan agents are openly active on the
planet.
Traders and statesmen alike accept various forms of payments. From cash to valuable items to
even favors. The laws on Remfry are fairly standard for many of the independent worlds; Murder
is illegal, but dueling is permitted. Outright slavery is illegal, but indentured service is allowed.
Theft is illegal and punishable by having an extremity removed. Punishment of assaults is
dependent on the extent of the assault itself, ranging from payment to whippings to execution.
73 | P a g e

The government on Remfry consists of the Amalgamated Traders Association, and ATA
President Dilra Seh could be considered the nominal planetary leader. The Association elects its
own leader on an irregular schedule, although Seh has been in charge for two years. The ATA
also keeps in system ten capital ships as patrol craft, patrolling the system near Remfry and her
two moons. The military on Remfry is composed of ground troopers who act as law enforcers.
Each of the major cities is its own city state, which makes up the Amalgamated Traders
Association. Every city is under the control of a Magistrar, who is the final arbiter of any issues
concerning trades and deals.
AARRIS
Aarris is an extremely rich world located in a narrow sector between the Romulan and the
Klingon Spheres of influence within the lower end of the Triangle. The government is
democratic in nature, with a planet wide president, elected every six planetary years. Currently
the President is El Fiza a male Troyian.
Despite its location the planet has maintained its independence through trade agreements
between the two major powers. It also maintains its neutrality by its willingness to sell to anyone
at a fair price and is a known banking institution as well. Both the Klingons and the Romulans
maintain embassies there and it is not uncommon to see members of both worlds there
intermingling with the local population freely. Arrisians have a strong military force backed by
technology they have bought from both Romulan and Klingon sources. The inhabitants deal in
minerals and other commodities and sell or trade for technology. There is also a large black-
market operation on the planet as it is a haven for smugglers looking to fence stolen items. There
is an Acta mine on the planet owned by the Orion Zeene family. It is also the largest corporation
on the planet, although they make a show of outwardly not interfering in planetary politics, the
families backing is all important.
ACTON
Acton is the third planet in the Heid star sytem, situated near the Azure Nebula and the Mantiev
Coalitionl Paxton systems. It is a haven to smugglers and pirates with links to Orion Syndicates.
The planet is controlled by a monarchy and ruled by Queen Merris. The northern hemisphere is
primarily artic, with an abundance of an algae like plant under the permafrost. The southern
hemisphere is more tropical in nature and is where the majority of the inhabitants reside.
While there is no moon orbiting Acton, the closest celestial body is a class D dwarf planet, less
than 8 million kilometers, named Gules. Gules is a major base of operations for a known
criminal by the name of Hercules Canute.
AKERS
Akers is a smaller planet with only .7 of Earth gravity. The planet has a several small population
centers on its three continents which is run by Alcalde’s. The western continent has elevated
radiation levels that aid in the growth of plant life, in particular a number of flowers that can only
grow on that planet. Despite being close the Romulan border, Akers enjoys a thriving trade and
rest economy as Klingon and Federation ships will often stop here while on their long patrols.
An elected senate called the Akeride governs the planet.
ALTHARRA
What was originally a small colony of agriculture, has since become a strong independent planet.
Years of trading with the Klingon Free States has given them access to technology and
weaponry. While the society is predominantly peaceful, Klingon influences over the years has
created a martial subculture. It is common to see the inhabitants of Altharra practicing the
Klingon martial art Mok'bara in open parks.
74 | P a g e

Ballard
A fiercely independent world, the inhabitants of Ballard originally had a trade deal with the
Federation, where Starfleet would provide a military garrison in exchange for the raw minerals
for ship building. Diplomatically the Klingon Empire recognized the independence of Ballard and
that attacking it would mean a direct war with the Federation. After the Khitomer Treaty,
Ballard became more open to trade with the Klingon Empire. Today the planet maintains its
own military force, including a squadron of starships. As it is a direct route between the Klingon
Empire and the Klingon Free States, Ballard has also acted as neutral diplomatic center. The
Federation also maintains an embassy on the planet.
Bickett
A predominantly lush and tropical planet, compromised of a loose confederation of communes
each with its own leader called a Headmin. Locally the inhabitants have manufacturing facilities
that can produce synthetic materials. Bickett mostly trades with several planets in the Mantiev
Coalition, mostly with the planets in the Paxton system.
Canchicka
Canchicka’s early history is bathed in the blood of Klingons and Romulans alike. Located at
narrow point in the lower region of the Triangle, the military bases changed hands multiple times
during the Klingon Romulan War. Even after all of these years, the scars on the planet’s surface
can still be seen. Overtime the planet had a reputation of being cursed by both Romulans and
Klingons alike. Canchicka gained full neutrality with the Vrax Accords, the first ally treaty
between the Romulans and the Klingons in 2267. Despite the deterioration of Romulan and
Klingon relations in the early 24th century, Canchicka has managed to maintain neutrality with
both governments maintaining embassies on the planet.
For over a hundred years the Canchicka government has been a parliamentary feudal system
headed by the Forall. Local lands are owned by lords who control mining, agriculture and other
economies. Membership of the landed class is based on actual land owned, and even a simple
farmer can be considered a landed gentry if he owns his own land outright.
Currie
A Class K planet, Currie is a thinly populated, mostly made up of mining communities living in
domed cities. While it maintains an open market system, in the domed cities, it not unheard of
for a band of rogues to burrow into an isolated section of the planet to hide away for a while.
Comstock Sentinels regularly patrol the planet hunting outlaws.
Deerlam
Deerlam boasts an eclectic mix of Humans, Tellerites and Andorians. A heavy mining economy
backs a near feudal system of self-styled barons. This mix of fierce inhabitants are not one to shy
away from a fight and their proudest moment in history was when, in 2279, their leader, Carl
Sammons led a crusade to free the colony on Geisling from Romulan control. Sammons’ army
comprised Deerlam, Remfry and even a sizable contingent of mercenaries from the Association
of Outer Free Worlds. Backing the uprising on Geisling, Sammons caught the Romulans
completely by surprise. It took the intervention of both the Klingons and the Federation to keep
the conflict from becoming a full-scale interstellar war. In the end the Romulans gave up claims
to the planet Geisling. Since then, Deerlam has maintained an effective fighting force. Entire
mercenary units are raised and trained on Deerlam and contract their services on other planets.
75 | P a g e

Geisling
An independent planet just across from the Romulan border, it was originally foolishly settled by
humans after the Earth Romulan War. The Romulan military took control of the planet at the
beginning of the Klingon Federation War, taking advantage of the fact that the Federation was
not willing to open a second war over a single planet. The human population lived under
captivity of the Romulans, who maintained strict control. Kept strictly isolated, no one outside of
the planet knew the conditions of the captives. A successful escape in 2278 changed all that,
when a human family arrived on nearby Deerlam using a stolen Romulan shuttle. Already a
fierce and martial planet, it did not take much for their leader, Carl Sammons, to rouse the blood
of Deerlam against the Romulans. Sammons was able to secretly create an alliance between
Deerlam, Remfry, and the Baker Family of the Association of Outer Free Worlds. When they
struck Geisling they took the Romulans by complete surprise. The Romulan response was swift
and brutal. Squadrons of warbirds, led by the then new Nova class descended onto Geisling.
Orbital bombardments and ground fighting laid waste to most of the cities. The civilian human
population had been moved to safety by Sammons and his allies and managed to surfer little
casualties. Once the battle was joined Sammons played his second strategy; broadcasting the
information of the planet and the relative strength of the combatants to everyone. The gambit
paid off well, with Klingon and Federation fleets mobilizing. Within a matter of days, the
Romulans were now facing a larger fleet of independent ships and Klingon and Federation
taskforces. Bitterly the Romulans accepted that they would not prevail and, like the Federation
during their conflict with the Klingons, deemed that control of Geisling was not worth a full-
blown war over. The damages done to the planet’s surface are largely erased these days. New
cities replaced the destroyed originals. In that time, the population has grown and become self-
reliant. The government maintains treaties with the Federation and the Mantiev Coalition, but
reserves a place of honor for Deerlam, whom they regard as their saviors. Every year on the
anniversary of the battle, Geisling holds grand celebrations and invites the people of Deerlam.
City populations triple during the celebrations.
Epliey
A relatively cool environmental planet, Epliey was originally a home to several different colonial
settlements. Over the years, the engineers on Epliey became well known for their advances in
cybernetics. Part of the secret of their advanced work was due to finding the remains of an
outpost built by an alien race from the Andromeda Galaxy. After the advanced android Soong
type android, Data, became known, the Epliens began their work on their own version of
androids. Not as sophisticated as Data, nonetheless these androids became highly prized
throughout the Triangle Sector. Eplien engineers have become subject matter experts on
cybernetic implants and many of them have been hired out by the Federation and the Romulan
governments to assist with research on the Borg.
Farkin
A small cold low gravity world bordering on a K classification, Farkin has never had a large
population. Five domed cities dot the planet’s surface. Farkin has made a name for itself as a
biological and pharmaceutical production planet. It is one of the last production facilities of
Hytritium, a highly volatile compound. And is keeps large stocks of various medicines, including
Strobolin which is used as anti-viral agent. Each of the five major domed cities are known by the
original four-letter designations; HHMI, NIMH, WRMH, CHIC.
76 | P a g e

Albestis (Fltiner V)
An agricultural world, Albestis is the fifth planet in the Flitner system. The original Terran
exploration settlement set themselves up as a monarchy. When King Kapri Nader died in 2288,
his two sons fought each other for control of the throne. Danni Nader won out and decreed the
planet as an independent. The Bajoran Diaspora of 2329 brought a sizable population of Bajoran
refugees to the Triangle Sector where they settled on Albestis at the invitation of King Danni I.
Aside from agriculture goods, Albestis has a surprisingly large and thriving smuggling market,
given its proximity to Mantiev, Romulan and Federation Protectorate space.
Flood
Is an independent water world with two long thin continents that run along the longitude of the
eastern and western hemispheres. The originally colonists were a settlement of Argosan
Aquatics. They inhabit the underwater cities that spread out across the planet. The Argosan
government is near feudal in nature, with a ruling nobility lead by Precept. There are two trade
centers, one on each of the continents, that is fortified against the heavy storms that rage through.
These trade centers are somewhat under Klingon control, but the Klingons have not bothered to
try to tame the rest of the planet in the name of the Empire.
Timmigh (Fooled Again)
In 2240 Frann Ulich and her crew of 36 investigated the Timmigh system based on reports of a
lush beautiful, high resource planet. What they found was an arctic planet beneath thick cloud
covers. The ship lost control and crashed onto the planet’s surface. After several months a rescue
crew arrived, but Captain Ulich and her crew decided to remain as they found a beautiful
gemstone, they named Icealia. Ulich’s mining operation lasted thirty years before it was wiped
out from the Psi 2000 virus. The current status of the planet is unknown, although the original
settlement buildings remained intact.
Freeman Port
One of the largest open market trade worlds in the Triangle Sector, Freeman Port is an
independent world that will literally trade with anyone. The Son’a maintain one of their few
planet-based facilities here. Even after the Romulan government officially withdrew from
international affairs, Romulan traders and merchants still came to Freeman Port. Visiting the
planet, it is not uncommon to see Klingons, Romulans, Federation, Orions, and others walking
about. The Freeman, themselves are highly skilled negotiators and like Orions and Ferengi, they
love to haggle. Freeman Port has a lucrative contract with Comstock Sentinels to provide
security and law enforcement. Posting on Freeman Port is a much sought-after position.
Gamon
A heavy tropical planet in the Jeist star system, Gamon, is just outside of the Federation
Protectorate Planets space. For years Gamon was known and prized for their tool smithing, but
when industrial replicators became widespread, even in the Triangle Sector, the demand for their
skills has greatly diminished. These days, the relatively small population thrives on tourism and
trade. Now more of a service industry then a manufacturing planet. An advanced engineering
academy has been established by Tellerites there. Even though it is an independent world, the
Federation has given a lot of support to it, and maintains a small outpost nearby.
Gibraltar
A large arctic planet situated between the Federation and the Romulan borders, it has laid
unclaimed and unwanted by pretty much everyone. The only value the planet has is that of a
designated diplomatic neutral location between the Federation and the Romulans. To that end a
single city was built. The city, such as it is, has three zones; the Federation zone, the Romulan
77 | P a g e

Zone and a small neutral zone area where they meet. During their self-imposed exile, the
Romulans had shuttered most of their side of the facility, leaving only a few members on station,
which would rotate out every three months. Today, Gibraltar is more active, with a permanent
diplomatic team from each government stationed there.
Hadalib
As in independent planets go Hadalib is at the top. The planet’s inhabitants are self-sufficient and
semi reclusive. It also boasts a dense population of four billion inhabitants, mostly located in
urban and suburban centers. There are a few trade centers and they have had past agreements that
have given them extensive planetary defense systems. All starships passing near the star system
are queried and a maximum two-day port visa is issued on a case-by-case basis. The Hadalib
government maintains a small fleet of starships to patrol the other planets in their star system,
seven planets in all.
Jemison
A dry planet with most of its surface given over to deserts, mountain ranges, canyons and
plateaus. An unincorporated planet, it has been prone to be used for pirate bases over the years.
Nausicaan nests have routinely routed out by Federation or Sentinel forces. Because of its close
proximity to the Romulan border, it has been speculated that the Tal’Shiar has used the cover of
these pirates for their own activities.
Lanroche
The Lanroche system has become the largest trade world center of the Triangle Sector. Perfectly
located between the Federation and Klingon borders, the Orion Mercantile and the Mantiev
Coalition held space, Lanroche Prime has to maintain six major space stations to accommodate
the traffic. The government is run by a board of directors and the planet is run more like a
cooperation. In the mid-24th century, a consortium of Ferengi made inroads on Lanroche and
since then have become one of the most influential, much to the chagrin of the Orions who had
been in this sector for generations. The current head of the Ferengi consortium is Minnagus
Glal, who has proven to be quite popular among the citizenry, increasing efficiency and profits
all around.
Lendis
A highly militarized society thrives on the planet Lendis in the Wavam star system. The
inhabitants are genetically and culturally similar to the Romulans, as the original settlement came
from Romulus. Its close proximity to the Klingon border had been a source of contention for
years and the Klingons have tried to exert influence over Lendis throughout the 23rd century. By
2388 the Romulans had managed to provide Lendis with a squadron of starships for defense.
When hostilities broke out between the Klingons and the Romulans in the 24th century, Lendis
sided with the Romulans and was used as a garrison. These days the Romulans still maintain
relations with Lendis, which maintains a fleet of old Nova style warbirds. The society of Lendis
is feudal based with a landed nobility and a single monarch, currently Kaiser Landau.
Meadow
When the first expedition arrived in the Adye system they found, what they described as an
ecologically perfect world. Since then, the inhabitants have been painstakingly keeping it that
way. The life that is lead on the planet is simple in nature, mining is illegal and new construction
is strictly regulated. A simple government led by an Assembly of Elders organizes the planet’s
affairs. Due to its close proximity to the Federation and its history it is a close ally. A small space
station is located nearby and Starfleet has been known to allow personnel to have R-n-R there.

Serpico (New Paradise)

One of the oldest attempts of Federation colonies, New Paradise declared itself self-sufficient
and independent. Situated between the Klingon Border and the Klingon Free States, New
Paradise has been the target of Klingons looking to sharpen their combat skills or just for sport.
The last of the Terran colony was destroyed in 2280 by Captain Kruge of the IKS Sok Mak.
After the Klingon Federation treaty thirteen years later, a joint settlement was established and the
planet was renamed Serpico.
Itlem (new Siberia)
The Oeth star system contains two planets, New Sahara and New Siberia. New Sahara was a
Class K desert world with a barely breathable atmosphere, while New Siberia is a Class M arctic
world with breathable atmosphere. In 2387, a cluster of meteors struck both planets. The meteor
that struck New Sahara was estimated to be 6 kilometers across and the plaent suffered near total
destruction of the surface, making it completely unhabitable. New Siberia was struck by several
meteors with the largest just over 800 meters. The resulting devastation destroyed all of the cities
and towns on the colony. A new colonial operation was established in 2347, by the Ursanoid race
the Duroj redesignating the planet as Itlem.
Newlin III
Newlin III is a volcanic planet with a sulfurous atmosphere. Several independent mining
companies operate within the Newlin system, and headquartered on the two moons of Newlin III,
humorously named Fick and Frack. A nascent monarchy used to operate government on Newlin
but did not last overly long. Security is maintained by Comstock Sentinels contracts, with the
local mining companies.
Overlin
Overlin is a rich agricultural planet, it was the first of three major colonies established by
indigenous tribes of the old American nation on Earth. As with most of the planets that started
off as colonial settlements, Overlin became independent. Today it is home to many different
tribes, originally trade was done through the planet Remfry but by the early 24th century Overlin
has its own trading port.
Passarra
Originally named Passarra’s Dream, the planet was established as scientific research station with
a population of 130. Dr. Vaughn Passarra, wanted to build a scientific community free of cultural
prejudices. For close to fifty years the station continued to exist. Its close proximity to the
Romulan border had always made its success precarious and in 2300 all communications with
the station were lost. An initial investigation found no known cause and the mystery of the lost
research station continues to this day.
Rockhaven
Rockhaven is a cool mostly barren planet. The indigenous fauna includes two dragons like
creatures that are considered to be hostile to the settlers. If it were not for the mineral Timlelite,
which is used in the processing of certain hydrocarbons, the planet would be left alone. Despite
the presence of these lethal predators, a sizable population has grown on the planet. Most of the
trade is conducted with the Mantiev Coalition. Even though hostilities with the Klingons ended
eighty years ago, they still take somewhat of a dim view of Klingons.
Satterfield
A class M mining planet, Satterfield is unincorporated mining planet located between the
Federation border planet of Yeartes and the Federation protectorate planet Foronovo. Tylium
mining operations are small family-owned businesses. Clusters of settlements have formed
79 | P a g e

around major Tylium vents. As there is no central government, the settlements rely on the
Federation for protection. Law enforcement is maintained on a local level by sheriffs, but has an
extradition treaty with the Federation to send prisoners to Federation penal planets.
Schneiter
Schneiter is a mining world owned by the Kirkbride Comstock. A cold world it is abundant in
various building ores. The Kirkbride Mining operation cuts deep into the crust of the planet. The
topside mining facilities are powered by geothermal pockets. Unlike the Comstock moons, the
mining operations on Schneiter are not part of the prison system.
Takanarra
Originally a Federation colony, Takanarra had been subjected to multiple Klingon raids
throughout the 23rd century. A fairly unremarkable class M planet, the remaining settlers
preferred it for its isolation. During the Dominion War, it became an ideal location for rogues
and pirates. Backed by the Orion Crime Syndicates, a man named Treybor has taken control of
the planet and installed himself as Warlord.
Taninine
Taninine is located near the Romulan border in the upper part of the Triangle Sector, it is arctic
world with a singular ocean that runs the entire equator with a thin band of land along the
shoreline. There once was human colony that tried to live on the planet but they have long died
off. Now it is just another uninhabited planet within the sector.
Thisisit
Federation Explorer and former Merchant Marine Captain Simone De Leon discovered and
claimed the planet for her and her crew. Thisisit continues as an independent world to this day,
despite its close proximity to Klingons, the planet still maintains its independence. The main
trading mineral from Thisisit is Borite and several mining operations continue to this day.
Turningpoint
A large grassy planet, Turningpoint lies between the Mantiev Coalition and the Romulan border.
Because of the large grazing plains, Turningport is home to large herds of herbivores called
Rynth. Their meat is prized throughout the Triangle Sector and is considered a delicacy for the
Romulans as well.
Xanadu
A class M planet, with an arctic northern and southern hemisphere, it hosts a small populated
settlement that uses the lush equator for animal husbandry. Despite its close proximity to the
Klingon border the planet is fairly left alone. An out of the way planet, Xanadu has managed to
stay out of most of the troubles that the rest of the Triangle Sector seems to get into.
Merimee
A mining world, Merimee’s main export is the mineral Zathium, which is used in shielding
materials. The planet is wholly owned and run by Merimee Mining Corporation, a Denobulan
company. A rugged mountainous planet, they were backed early on in the 23rd century by the
Federation. Due to the closer proximity to the Romulans, security is pretty high on the planet.
Mostly backed by Federation forces and technology, they have since shifted to using personally
paid for security forces that are recruited throughout the Triangle Sector. The management has
long held a lucrative contract with Comstock Kirkbride.

Currency
While Earth and several other planets within the Federation do not have an economy-based
system, the Federation as a whole does have an economy often referred to as Federation Credits.
There are, however, other various races and groups that do have their own form of currency. For
the purposes of the game, all currencies are divided into full, half, quarter, and tenths. The
currencies that are in circulation are backed by one of the three types of un-replicateable
materials; Acta Crystals, Latinum and Tylium. Banking enclaves throughout the known galaxy
uses a weight measuring system to back the various currencies.
Within the Triangle Sector, everything has a price. Both the Orion Mercantile and the Mentiev
Colonial Associations accept various currencies in lieu of actual goods or services.
The Following are the known currencies at the time:
Federation
Credits, which are in a crypto currency form and physically look like coded isolinear chips.
Ferengi
Gold Pressed Latinum. Often in strips of a specific weight.
Mentiev Colonial Association
Kroner. The Kroner uses gold, silver and copper pressings on their coins.
Klingon
Darsek. Klingon currency is backed by Acta Crystals and are made iron ingots.
Orion
Jebbet. Jebbets are also a form of crypto currency.
Romulan
T’chak. T’chaks are closer to crystalline chips in with the values denoted by color.
Cardassian
Drokna. Rare in the Beta Quadrant, Droknas value has slowly been going up since the Dominion
War.
