Karma Isslam (4B) ELEM Academic and Behavioral Report

Academic Comments:

● Karma reads by blending letters together. She can take up to 1 minute

blending the letters of one word but does not construct the word itself at
the end. She doesn’t even know the sight words. She can only read words
like >> in, and, on, at… etc. I noticed that she can easily read the words
(play – like) and her name Karma.

● She has a major problem with spelling. She writes what she hears.

Sometimes she writes wrong letters beside each other that makes no
sense.

● She knows most of the sounds but still gets confused. She read the letter

“m” > “f”.

● She has a problem writing on the line. She writes under it or way above it.

● She can’t form a simple sentence. She can only form it orally.

● Her listening skill is below average. She can’t concentrate or focus if she

can’t see what she is being asked to do (for example: a listening task). She is
not an auditory learner.
● Her conversation skill is average. She can easily express herself in English.

Behavioral comments:

● Karma follows the class rules and is a very polite student.

● Karma’s response to situations and questions does not reflect her age level

and is way below her peers.

● I noticed that she doesn’t like to read or work while others are around

because she knows that she is academically lower than them. However, in
the 1 to 1 sessions she is not shy and exerts effort.

● She possesses great concentration and is a diligent worker. She wants to

be on level but she can’t understand the teacher’s instructions.

● She is aware that she is not like the rest of her classmates, but she doesn’t

have any problem with the fact that the teacher always helps her (but
without showing the other students that she can’t read).
