Choose two different retail formats (Hypermarket; Department Store; Specialty Store; Super
Market; Convenience Store etc.) of your choice.

Attempt the following questions:

1. Visit these two retail formats, websites and search relevant information. Identify and
investigate the dynamic nature of these retail formats on: retail locations & area covered
by these stores- freestanding or within a shopping mall; what is the merchandise-mix,
pricing strategies, number of employees, ambiance & layout of these 2 stores? Elaborate
your observations with reference to these two retail stores (different formats).

2. In your opinion what are the underlying factors that influence the demand of these stores?

3. Investigate what retail communication-mix strategy these 2 retailers adopt. Share images
of these stores & communication-mix (may be Ad. Pictures) strategies they recently have
gone through.

4. As per your observations, elaborate the store layout, store design & ambiance (internal &
external) and visual merchandising of these 2 retail stores.

The teams have to work on the following topics. Your team of available students will be as per roaster sequence.
Your team have to write a project with special reference to any organized retailer on the topic mentioned
below. Your topic should be rightfully covered in the project, followed by your team presentations. You can use
various images / pictures / retail videos for your presentation. Each team will get 15 minutes to present. The
presentation assessment criteria: team work; communication skills of members, ppt with images & videos,
question-answer round to the team.

• For Individual Assignment: Each student will choose TWO (Retail Stores- Different Formats) of his/her
choice (no common retailers & copy-paste content).
• Group / Team is of 8 members (1-8; 8-16 & so on as per your attendance roster: many students are
placed, thus overall, less members per group / team will be presenting). Date of Team Presentation of
Group Assignment: 15th January 2024 (Monday Onwards).
• Hand written assignment to be submitted in a copy / File with pages.
• Late submission will not be accepted. COPY-PASTE MEANS, REJECTION / LOW MARKS.
