“Know God by His Names”

(Speaker): Pinag aaralan natin sa series ngayon ay all about names, sa ibang culture ang
Pangalan ay pinapahalagahan, may meaning, may thought. pero sa culture natin kadalasan we
don’t appreciate names, Hindi natin nilalagyan ng meaning ang mga names. But in the Bible,
Names have meanings. Why is this important? Because
“God has revealed Himself to us through His different names”

Because there is no one name that can describe all the attributes of God.

(Speaker): God wants us to know Him. And He has revealed Himself to you and me through His
names.
(Speaker): ngayon dadako na tayo susunod na name of God in the Bible. Makikita natin ito sa
Genesis 2:4
The word “Lord” is “YHWH”
Yahweh is the distinct proper name of God, the word Yahweh is never used to describe any
pagan gods. It is the personal name of God

The word Yahweh is repeated in the Old Testament 6,823 the word Yahweh is the most
prominent name of God used in the Old Testament.

(Speaker): Ngayong hapon pag-aaralan natin ang pangalan ng Diyos “Yahweh”. This message is
not the complete explanation of His name.

Here are the basic ideas about Gods name.

Number 1:

Yahweh focuses on God’s personal being, God is a real person He is personal, si God gusto nya
magkaroon ng relationship sa kanyang nilikha, He loves us. Hindi sya gumawa ng creation,
naglagay ng mga rules at basta nalang mawawala. God is Personal

Number 2:
In other words God is the standard of what is right and what is wrong, God is Holy. He cares
how you and I will live.

Number 3:

God is faithful, when He says something He’s going to do it. Walang pangakong napako na sa
salita niya.

Makikita natin na God is PERSONAL sa passage na ito. Makikita natin ang Personal involvement
niya sa kaniyang creation especially to us.

Makikita natin sa passage na ito ang Characteristic ni God, God cares for us. He planted a
Garden for us. Sabi jan the LORD (YHWY) GOD caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to
the sight and good for food. God is personal he cares for what is good to us, He created a living
habitat for us because he Loves us. But notice
the bible mentioned two trees. Number 1 the “tree of life” another one is “the tree of
knowledge of good and evil.”

God is not only personal he is not only relational, God gives man an assignment, he wanted
Adam to understand his role, to cultivate and keep the garden.

You and I will not know the meaning of life, until you are connected with our creator, many
people today find their lives meaningless, no purpose, for some they create their own purpose.
God is personal that He gave us a purpose.

Next:

Bakit sinabi ni God na pwedeng kainin lahat ng prutas sa lahat ng puno sa garden except for
one, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Many times people don’t understand, why should God restrict Adam and Eve, why was it right
for adam and eve to eat any fruit in the garden, why was it wrong for them to eat the fruit of
the knowledge of good and evil. What makes it right? What makes it wrong?

Yahweh has every right to tell us what we can do, what we cannot do. God created us and He
knows what is good for you, the challenge is this,
Are we going to trust Him? Are we going to follow what he wants us to do?

Punta na tayo sa second idea ng pangalang Yahweh:

God could have made us into robots, but no, God created man in his image, He is love, God gave
man the capacity to make choices, to make our own will, He knows the capacity of humans,
God being the supreme moral being wanted us to assume responsibility,

For example, people who are married, the nature of love is response,
free will, you cannot put a gun on someone and say “will you marry
me?”, “you will marry me” is that love?
That’s not love, God wants us to respond to Him freely, respond to Him
with love, love cannot be forced.

Have you choose to respond to God willingly? Lovingly? Its crucial to have a good relationship to
God.

Do you spend time reading his word? Do you spend time listening to him? God is relational he is
love he wants relationship, we wants us to have a relationship with him.

Without reading his word without spending time with him you will not know Him. The more we
listen to God the more we obey Him, the more we know Him.
When God tells you something and you don’t do it what makes you and I think that God will
keep on revealing himself to us.

Notice that Yahweh, God is revealing to Moses about His concern, God said “I Have given heed
to their cry” in other words God hears our prayers, He is aware of our sufferings,

Sometimes we may feel like we are all alone, we may feel like nobody really cares for you, But
let us believe that YAHWEH is personal, He is loving, He cares. Our God keeps His words He
remembers His promises. He loves us, He knows what is right, what is wrong because He is a:

When you heard the word morality what comes to your mind? Morality knowing what is right
and what is wrong.

God further more describe Himself in Exodus 3:13-14

God personally describe His own name, Yahweh ang personal na pangalan ni Lord, it is never
used in pagan gods, it is never used in plural forms. It is His personal name.

YAHWEH means:
God does not need anything because self-existent, independent.

Yahweh has one more trait that we need to discuss about.

Yahweh wants us to be holy, You shall be holy for the LORD YHWH your God is holy. Many pagan
gods in other religions, their god does not care how they live, but not YAHWEH Yahweh is a
supreme moral being and he cares how you and I should live, we are set apart, living a life what
is pleasing to God.

Lets ask this question again to ourselves.

Ano yung pumapasok sa isip mo kapag may pinagawa sayo si God?

Natural men, people who don’t really believe the word of God will find the word of God
restrictive, too controlling. But If you know God, you know that the word of God is for our
protection, for our good. He cares for us, He wants the best for us because.
Lets recap, Our God Yahweh is Personal, He wants a relationship with us.

Our God is the supreme moral being, He tells us what’s right and what’s wrong, He knows
what’s right and what’s wrong and He wants us to be holy.

Ang lastly we realize that God is faithful. He keeps His promises, He keeps His words, Our God is
a covenant keeper

Are there any promises that God has given you? (tanungin ang mga youth): are we aware of His
promises? Are we studying the promises of God? How can we enjoy the promises of God if we
don’t know God.

We can see God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:1

But there is a problem, alam na natin na matanda na sila Abraham at si Sarah, halos mag iisang
daang taon na sila. Sarah could not have a baby anymore due to her old age, pero sabi ni Lord
kay Abraham,
“wag kang mag alala, magkakaroon ng anak si Sarah, pero nung narinig ito ni Sarah anong
ginawa nya? Tumawa sya. But God fulfilled His promise to Abraham.

Yahweh when He said something He would do it. If sinabi niyang makaka graduate ka ngayon He
will do it, if sinabi niyang magkakaroon ka ng breakthrough He would do it. Expect new things
from God this new year.
And lastly
It’s a choice between following God, doing His will and doing our own will, sin is self will against
God’s will, God’s desire, YAHWEH’S desire wants us to experience His best.

Eventually we have to make a choice, at the end of our life.

Yung mga taong nag sasabi kay God na “thy will be done” at yung mga taong sinabihan ni Lord
na “thy will be done” in our case, we chose to say “Lord your will be done, not my will.” Choose
to trust God, choose His will, because He is our creator, He knows what’s best for us.
