1. This paper consists sections; A and B with a total of 14 questions.
2. Attempt ALL questions in both sections.
3. Each question in section A carries 6 marks while each question in section B carries 10 marks.
4. Mathematical tables and non-programmable calculator may be used.
5. Write your Name or examination number on every page of your answer sheets.

SECTION A
1. (a) The school fees per child is 2 500 800 shillings per year. Seypalm paid “one million three hundred thousand
and forty shillings”. How much money does she owe the school?
(b) On a farm of animals, one-six of them are sheep, three-eighths are rabbit, a quarter is cattle, one- twelfth is goats
and the rest are donkeys. If there are 152 donkeys on the farm, find the total number of animals on the farm.
2. (a) Find the real solution of the equation
(b) (i) Evaluate the following without using tables or calculators.

(ii) Solve: 4 log2 𝑥 = − log2 81


3. (a) (i) Given: A={1, 3,5, 8} , B = {3,5, 7} , C = {2,4, 6, 8}. Find A ∩ (𝐴 ∪ 𝐵)
(ii) Represent the following equation into a Venn diagram given: 𝐴 ∩ 𝐵 = ∅ with aid of shaded sketch.
(b) Twenty-nine students are studying two foreign languages. Five students study both Chinese and French while
13 students study Chinese only. How many students study French if all students study at least one language and
24 students study only one language?
4. (a) Use the following coordinates plane to attempt the following questions:

(i) Write the quadrant and the coordinate of point P.


(ii) Find the “𝑦 = 𝑚𝑥 + 𝑐” of the line PC if point P is a consecutive point with point A on the y –axis

repair.
(b) Extract Balance sheet of Mr. Hamisi from the following assets and liabilities on 31st December 2006, use
the transactions to find the following;
