INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study:

Online games is an online platform played by millions of people in the world. It is often
Played by young child, students, and adults. It can also be played in mobile phones, computer,
tablet, and game consoles. In other hand online games is very famous in the recent years. As the
years progresses eSports has started all over the world.

As eSports get famous, allows it to engage more players in the world making every places has
many players of online games, they can be seen everywhere like in streets when there are a faster
internet connection.

According to a report by Newzoo, a leading provider of market intelligence for the


gaming industry, the Philippines has a total of 43 million gamers, with a projected growth of
14.3% between 2020 and 2023.

The rise in popularity of online gaming in the Philippines can be attributed to a variety of
factors, including the increasing availability of high-speed internet, the growing number of users,
and the rise of eSports.

In the Philippines online games has contributed largely in the economy in the recent years due
to profit increase of 52% in the first quarter of 2010 alone. Company revenues also rose by 42%,
totaling to about Php 239 million. The number is still expected to double, even as the year
progresses.

According to diverse esports official websites, such as esports.net or esportsearnings.com,


seven from the first 20 countries that lead esports in terms of earnings are emerging ones,
namely China, South Korea, Russia, Brazil, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Philippines. And further,
almost 50 % of the total earnings in esports are from emerging countries, while the number of
players exceeds 37 %.
