Backround
A small, local farmer who raises and treats
his farm animals with care and proper
Stockmanship is fighting for the rights of
other farm animals in PA. In his argument
he states, that farms that are in the process
of overworking and mistreating their
animals in order to mass produce sub-par
products should be disciplined, for this is a
highly overlooked form of animal abuse. It is
believed that not only is this hurting the
animal, but by putting the animal under
unnecessary stress, it can produce soiled
products that could potentially harm
humans as well. He strives to create
healthier farming habits for the good of the
agricultural community, and any of those
who purchase products from it. He wanted
to write a bill on behalf of the farmers who
don’t solely raise and sell animal product for
the money, but who take pride in the quality
of the product they produce.

This law states that any person(s) that partake in
animal husbandry must abide by the following rules
established; in the process of raising livestock, in order
for products to be eligible for sale, they must be
raised under the required conditions in order to
improve the overall quality of any agricultural
products being sold by the farming industry.
The overview provides key details that come into
consideration when addressing this issue.
OVERVIEW
1. Animals must be given proper space to be able to grow and
develop properly. This means up to 2.5 animal acres per
animal unit, increasing the original APU by about 22,000
square feet.
2. All livestock must be up to date with current vaccines.
3. Growth hormones are not to be distributed at any stage of
production. Growth hormones are notorious for altering the
quality of the product and are overall not needed in the
process of animal development.
4. Products that come from livestock suffering from any illness
that affects the physical health of said animal are not eligible
to be sold to the general public.
5. It is unacceptable to use any hormones that are not further
approved by the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) to
temporarily improve product quality.
6. Animals must live in a well-kept, tidy environment to limit any
harmful bacteria.
7. Animals must not be confined in a cage for over 48 hours,
exceptions for travel.
8. Animals should all be treated with proper stockmanship
PURPOSE
This bill was created on behalf of the general welfare of
livestock and in favor of the safety of the public. It is
established so farmers are able to produce high-quality
products for income rather than cheating their way out and
mass producing a lesser quality product in order to gain
more income.
APPLIES
This law is effective for farmers in PA, employees in the
industrial livestock production committee- a modernized form
of agriculture where densely populated communities of
livestock are confined to cages and/or feedlots- and anyone
who sells animal products to the general public.
