WSET Yearbook 2023 3

Welcome from
Michelle Brampton, WSET, CEO
Congratulations to the class of 2021/22!
I am delighted to welcome you to this year’s
WSET Graduation - a celebration of the
outstanding achievements of 587 students from
around the world who have successfully
achieved their WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines
or Level 4 Diploma in Wines and Spirits and now
join our growing alumni community.

2023 marks my first WSET Graduation and first year as CEO

at WSET. One of my first priorities during this time has been
to clarify our purpose - to empower people through inspiring
learning experiences all over the world. As our alumni, you
are WSET’s most important ambassadors. By sharing your
experiences about your WSET journey, you play a key role in
inspiring future students and helping us make education
more accessible, particularly to those individuals and
communities facing challenges and hardship.
Last year we delivered our first hybrid graduation ceremony, making our flagship event as inclusive and accessible as
possible. This year’s event will also be hybrid and we are thrilled to have graduates joining us both in person - at the historic
Guildhall in London - and virtually. For the first time, we will be announcing our top performing graduates as part of the
ceremony. We will also be bringing together our graduates, guests, prize winners across all WSET qualifications, prize
sponsors and industry partners in a single post-ceremony reception, to connect and celebrate together.

Finally, I would like to thank our generous sponsors who have donated the drinks for today’s celebration, and all our
Corporate Partners for their continued and invaluable support in helping us achieve our purpose.

Warm wishes

Michelle Brampton

Special thanks to our drinks sponsors

Vintners’ Cup
The Vintners’ Cup is awarded annually to the graduate
achieving the highest aggregate mark across all units
of the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines. The winner is
awarded a silver trophy and engraved decanter.

The Worshipful Company of Vintners is one of the City

of London’s great 12 livery companies, with a history
rooted in the UK wine trade. They generously took over
the sponsorship of this award in 2004. The award has
been in existence since 1946.

Felicity Cox 2022 Winner

WSET School London

Felicity (also known as Fliss), began her WSET journey in the 1990s, returning to embark on
the Level 4 Diploma in Wines in 2019, where she met many friends who kept her motivated
through her studies and tasting practice. Fliss is currently Manager at Tim Syrad Wines, where
she works with her husband selling wines and tasting experiences.

‘I loved the studying, but developing the exam technique was a challenge, and I was very
lucky to have had the time to devote to that. I am so grateful to the staff at the WSET School
London and other educators who supported me (not least my husband Tim!).’
