Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

As you will have seen, student subject allocations for 2024 are now available to view on Compass.

The process and policy for requesting a change of subject is outlined as follows:

Camberwell High School endeavours to provide all students with the opportunity to maximise their
learning potential whilst at the school.

Subject guides are available on Compass under Favourites with detailed descriptions and
prerequisites where required. Students and their parents or carers should allow plenty of time to
carefully consider their options prior to entering their choices.

If a student needs to request a change of subject a written application is required to be completed

and returned to the relevant sub-school office within the application timeline.

Selection of Subject Information

Please read the Subject Guides and prerequisites carefully prior to entering online. These are detailed
on Compass.
Meet with your Student Learning Leader or House Leader (SLL/HL) to discuss your options before the
due date as outlined on the relevant Request for a subject change form
Meet with the Careers staff to discuss further study options and prerequisites

Criteria for a Change of Subject

There are only two criteria to be considered for a change of subject:
to support future tertiary pathways study; or
a medical reason – certificate to be provided
In both cases a change of subject can only occur if a place is available.

Please follow these steps if you would like to request a change of subject :
1. Collect the printed form from the relevant Sub School Office (Junior or Senior)
2. Take the form home and complete it with your parents/carer.
3. Once filled out, please return the completed form to the relevant Sub School Office
according to the dates on the form

You will receive notification of the outcome from your Student Learning Leader (SLL) or House
Leader (HL) prior to Headstart for Unit 1 and Unit 2 subjects or in the coming weeks for Year 10
electives.

Kind regards,

Sub School Leaders

Eamon Stewart (Senior School) and Elizabeth Foulds (Junior School)
