Copyright Law

INTRODUCTION
The Philippine Copyright Law is embodied
in Republic Act No.8292, officially known
as the “Intellectual Property Code of the
Philippines”.
It also protects patents, trademarks, and
other forms of intellectual property.
There are also other laws that protect
copyrights. An example of these is the
Optical Media Act, which protects music,
movies, computer programs, and video
games.
Copyright implementation is done
with the coordination of the IPO
Intellectual Property Office of the
Philippines (IPOPHL) and the Copyright
Division of the National Library of the
Philippines.
Materials that can be copyrighted:

•Literature (books, pamphlets, etc)


•Periodicals (newspapers, tabloids,
magazines)
•Public speeches and other public
speaking works (speeches, lectures,
sermons)
Materials that can be copyrighted:

•Letters
•Television or movie scripts,
choreography, and entertainment in
shows
•Musical works (lyrics, sons, song
arrangements, etc.)
Materials that can be copyrighted:

•Art Products (drawings, paintings,


sculptures)
•Ornamental designs and other forms of
applied art
•Geographical, topographical,
architectural, and scientific works
(maps, charts, plans)
Materials that can be copyrighted:

•Scientific and Technical Drawings


•Photographs and cinematographic
works made in a process similar to
photography
•Audio-visual works and
cinematographic works
Materials that can be copyrighted:

•Picture used in advertising (logos)


•Computer Programs
•Sound Recordings
•Broadcasts
