I've got two sisters. Jen is older than me. She sometimes makes fun of me. This is
annoying. Annie is the youngest in our family. She's my baby sister and she never
cries. She's funny. She got her name after my dad's mum.
My dad is an only child. My mum's got one brother, Will, who is my uncle. He is
married to Sylvia. She is from Italy. Sometimes she speaks Italian and I don't
understand a word. Except for pizza, of course. They have one child – Mel, who is
my cousin. Mel and I often play board games and in the summer we play ball.
My dad's parents live in the country. Many people think that all the people who live
in the country have cows and fields. That's not true. My grandma Anna has a cat and
a small garden and my grandpa John doesn't work ouside, but he loves to cook.
My mum's parents live in a block of flats near our house so I get to see them quite
often. My grandma's name is Mary and my grandpa is John. Funny, isn't it? I have
two grandpas named John.

Russia is one of the biggest countries in the world and the national
Russian costumes for women are very different. They depend on
the territory, social status and special events. They are easy to
wear because they are not tight and women can move and work
without difficulties. To put a dress on, women pull it over their head, just like a
pullover.
What is special about the Russian national costumes is that everyday clothes and
clothes for special occasions look almost the same. They differ in colour, details and
decoration. They are very beautiful – the Russian word 'beautiful' comes from the
word 'krasny', the Russian for 'red'.
Traditional Russian clothes are made from cotton and/or wool. They are decorated
with different patterns, such as ornaments, people and animals. Red, blue, green,
white and yellow are the most popular colours. In the Northern parts of Russia, their
national costumes are not as rich as in the Southern parts where they are bright and
colourful. In the South, they also wear belts and headbends with gold and pearls.
People say that Russian national costumes show the old culture of Russia.
4 How are everyday clothes different from clothes for special events? ____________
