Foods that can boost your Neurotransmitter and can improve your wellbeing

Article review: “Understanding Neurotransmitters: How Your Diet Can Improve Your Mood”

The article explained that the neurons, which are responsible for transmitting messages
throughout the brain and body, use chemical messengers known as neurotransmitters to regulate
various bodily functions, including how the body reacts to different stimuli. One example of a
stimulus that can affect the body is food, which can either naturally contain neurotransmitters or
create them through food processing techniques.
Neurotransmitters can be found in various foods. Here are some examples of
neurotransmitters that are present in food include: Glutamate: found in foods such as tomatoes,
cheese, and soy sauce. Tyramine: present in aged cheeses, cured meats, and fermented foods like
kimchi. Histamine: found in foods such as wine, aged cheese, and fermented foods. Choline: present
in foods such as eggs, liver, and fish. Tryptophan: found in foods such as turkey, chicken, and
bananas. Also, Tyrosine: present in foods such as soy products, dairy products, and meats.
It is also stated that neurotransmitters play a crucial role in regulating mood, emotions, and
behavior. Different neurotransmitters have different effects on mood, and an imbalance in their levels
can lead to mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
Overall, I think that while incorporating mood-boosting foods into one's diet can have
positive effects on both physical and mental health, it is important to note that such dietary changes
alone cannot cure mood disorders entirely. It is recommended that individuals consult a physician
before starting a new diet and to learn about the different dietary options available. Healthcare
providers can evaluate patients thoroughly and suggest specialists to assist with other health issues
that may be contributing to mood disorders.
