What can we learn from the 5 AM Club book?

The 5 am Club book is about waking up at 5 am. It tells us to join the 5 AM club, own our
morning and elevate our life.

I learnt a lot from the book. The learning for me are:

1. We should wake up at 5 am and use the 20/20/20 formula

a. Part 1: 5.00 am to 5.20 am for Movement
It should be the time for doing intense exercise to boost our
metabolism
b. Part 2: 5.20 am to 5.40 am for Reflection
It should be the time for doing journal ,mediation, planning and
contemplating
c. Part 3 : 5.40 am to 6.00 am for growth
It should be the time for reviewing goals, reading books and
listening to podcasts.
2. We should take care of our 4 important sets:
a. Healthset (Physical Well being)
b. Mindset (Psychology)
c. Soulset (Spirituality)
d. Heartset (Emotions)
3. Gargantuan Competitive Advantage (GCA): It means how you think, behave and
deliver. It is endless pursuit of being the best version of ourselves

There a lot of other learning too. But these were the major learning for me.

Impact on me: After reading it, I was not able to wake up at 5 am. But, I changes some parts
of my day. I started going to Gym and doing exercise. I felt the difference. I continued the
gym , till the time lock down started in our country.

I hope this my learning from the book will persuade you to read the book and change your
schedule and how you carry out the day. If I am able to do that, I think the post had served its
purpose.

THE 20/20/20 FORMULA:

In my opinion, it is the most important formula of the book. In this 20/20/ 20 formula, you
have to wake up early in the morning ( that is 5 am according to the author) and have to
divide your first 1hour of the morning into 3 equal times containing 20 minutes each. First
one hour of the morning is the most productive hour of your day and you have to spend this
hour wisely so that you will be energetic throughout the day. According to the author, you
have to divide it into 3 pockets in the following order: 20 MINUTES MOVE, 20 MINUTES
REFLECT, 20 MINUTES GROW.

In this picture from the book help you to understand how this formula enhances your
productivity of the day:

90/90/1 RULE:

The formula told that if you want to master in any 1 skill then you have done the skill 90
minutes each day for simultaneous 90 days without interruption and with full concentration.
This cycle gives you an awesome output to learn any skills. You need to install the habit of
this 90/90/1 formula for your finest productive results.

There are also many other amazing formulae told in this book. If you want to read them
please buy the book.

Lastly, I want to say with my own experience I can guarantee you this is a life-changing book
and if you follow the early-rising habit it will help to upgrade your happiness, productivity
and feeling of aliveness.

Thank you for reading this. And if found it helpful please upvote me.

A Self-Help book is helpful most helpful if practised in life.

So here are things that I think we can apply in our life from today itself:

What is your review of Robin Sharma?

In The 5 AM Club, Robin Sharma not only explains the rationale behind rising at 5 am, but
he also provides us with techniques to completely reinvent our lives.

He does this by telling the story of a billionaire mentor teaching a struggling artist and a
stressed entrepreneur how to start their days intentionally. He takes them on a fascinating
story all around the world and into the depths of their minds.

3 Ideas you can implement right away

Take care of the four interior empires

Having the mindset of a champion is will surely serving you well. But the mindset is only a
fourth of the equation. You must also take care of your Health set, Heart set, and Soul set.
This means treating your body well, taking care of your thoughts, your emotions, and
connecting with yourself.
Use the 20/20/20 formula

If you can manage to get up one hour earlier, it’s essential to not waste this hour by scrolling
through social media. Exercise for the first 20 minutes of your day, take a cold shower. This
will bunt cortisol, which will also help you to sleep better in the evening. Spend the next 20
minutes meditating. Try to focus on your breath and come back to it every time a thought has
entered your mind. This is teaching you to recognize when your mind is wandering and
bringing back your focus. Lastly, spend 20 minutes learning something new. Whether it is
through reading a book, listening to a podcast, or solving actual problems.

Respect the “twin-cycle of elite performance.”

For every output, there must be input. You can’t enter a flow state and then not restore your
resources. So, plan your day accordingly. For every period of intense focus, you need to plan
a period of relaxation and recovery.

Lesson 3
Now, instead of going out into the complexities of the process, why not, we understand it as
simple as the book title, “The 5am CLUB” its self says. Which is to have a grand opening
day, and to have a routine of a winning mindset. You must start your day at 5am. Set the full
make use routine of your day, the 24 hours which life gives you each day. Keep this in mind,
and schedule your morning routine. Doing so, in no time you will see how your progress, and
improvement will accelerate.

Lesson 4
Every day we complain about noise, pollution, distractions of all kinds. And all we went is
peace, and quite for a while at times, to relax, our minds, focus and concentrate better on the
tasks at hand.

This happens to mostly all of us. Setting a 5am waking routine, solves this for you too. As
waking up at 5am provides you with the perfect peace, quite, calm, time of solitude which
energizes you for the rest of the day. When your mind is at ease. You have started your day
with a peaceful, calm, relaxed mind. Free of the hustle and bustle of daily life. Your state of
mind gets aligned with all the greater good and abundance in the universe.

When you think right. And can concentrate on the issues with a clear head, with a focused
state of being, you address all the issues brilliantly.

Lesson 5
the book”The 5am CLUB”, further elaborates on how important waking up early is. In the
morning, our body is more relaxed after a restful night’s sleep.

Our mind also at that time is fresh. Not tired or burdened with all the tasks, responsibilities,
work load, or errands to run tensions. Therefore, it is easier to focus on things, and matters.
Which requires our attention early in the morning.
When you think better, you decide better. When your decisions are right, the results are great.
So wake up early in the morning, and enjoy the feel of distraction-free life. Where you do not
have to worry about attending to social media, people, errands and all the rest.

Lesson 6
Our brain functions in most unique ways. How it gives signal to our body, our body response,
or acts likewise. That is why when your mind is tense, your whole body language reflects it.

Surprisingly, during the early morning hours the prefrontal cortex is part of our brain, which
is responsible for making us over-think. Get stressed, worry too much kind of shuts down on
its own. Or you can say that the effect of it is minimal on us in the early morning hours. Right
after when we wake up. That is why make full use of this precious time. Allocate it to your
self-care, better planning, and better decision making.

Lesson 7
In the morning when you wake up early, as per “The 5am CLUB” title suggests. After a
couple of days when your body gets used to that routine.

You see marvelous changes coming in your daily routine. Habitual structure, behavioural
patterns. All because of this early morning routine you have switched to. So try to divide the
time, you got in the morning applying the 20/20/20 rule.

Assign every set of 20 minutes to different useful goal achievements. Such as 20 minutes for
meditation. 20 minutes for exercise. 20 minutes for learning a new thing or pursuing a hobby.
You will see how much flexibly you will be able to do it all. And achieve your all-set goals
without any problem.

Lesson 8
Make it a habit in the morning while you meditate for a while to clear your head. From all the
worries, and unnecessary tensions.

Block all toxic thoughts. and just think about everything optimistically. Train your mind, wire
your brain to do so. Bring in the balance of perfect calm, positivity and gratitude in your life.

It will reflect on all the aspects of your being, mental, physical, spiritual. Knowing so, that
how important it is to care for these three elements of our being, we must never ignore the
importance of them. Better mental and physical health leads to a happy, healthy life.

Lesson 9
Who doesn’t want to be successful and abundant. Seldom do we envy people who are
successful. Some of us envy people who are ultra-rich, or powerful in any way.
Well, all of them, including spiritual gurus, start their day early. They all have this common
habit in them that they never stop learning. They learn from anything and everything, that is
why there awareness and understanding grows so much.

If you want to become one of them, yourself one day, start to work on you. Right from today
at, make use of this profound habit of never stop learning.

Lesson 10
We all want that there should be an extra hour or so, when it comes to our productivity. In
exams, students often want even a few extra minutes to finish off their exam as per their
satisfaction. In life the same is the case, to finish off per your satisfaction. And to live an
extraordinary life, make use of this extra time.

Which you have made possible for you by waking up at 5 am. Doing so, not only will you
find utter peace at that time in the morning. But this will also encourage, inspire, motivate
you to core.

This is year 4 on my new book and I’m delighted to report it’s done.

...it’s all about the methodology I’ve created to start your mornings well so your days are
consistently excellent.

...it’s been quite a creative journey over these years of writing this new book and has
demanded more from me than anything I’ve ever done.

So—with this context—I thought it would be helpful to the full expression of your genius if I
shared 9 quick lessons that giving my heart + soul to The 5 AM Club has taught me about
creativity and productivity:

1. When attempting to do a towering work that turns the industry on its head, you’ll feel like
it’s not good enough, a lot of the time.

2. When you feel like quitting is the time you must commit to continuing.
3. Critics should move out of the way of people trying to get things done.

4. Procrastination is just your fear trying to divert you.

5. Fasting is an amazing practice to elevate your mental clarity, fireproof your energy and
save a ton of time [and grocery expenses; joking...a little].

6. There is immense value, as you produce a project that you want to endure for decades, in
getting lost from your usual life. You absolutely need to “go dark” so you get into the Flow
State of mind that will deliver peak ideas to you. Major parts of The 5 AM Club were written
in Rome, Russia, Brazil, Switzerland and Mauritius.

7. Get your creative tools right. My Moleskine pens and dialled-in journals and colored
markers and various iPads have all been keys to protecting my inspiration and capturing my
idea downloads.

8. On the writing of this book, music was almost always playing as I worked my craft. I
handcrafted specific playlists that lifted me into lofty realms I can’t even describe in words.
Music works to activate your best.

9. Reward yourself. Making this book has been intense hard work. Super demanding labor,
intellectually, emotionally, physically and spiritually. If you’ve followed my whole journey
on Instagram and Facebook, you’ve seen what I’ve put myself through to get this work right
for you. And yet, through the toil and deep labor and fighting the struggle, I also found time
to have fun. Life’s just too short to be too serious, yes?

Ok. Hope these insights are valuable and more are coming...

For now, I just need to lovingly urge you to battleproof your creative genius like the real pros
do so you FULLY express the gifts and talents within you, before it’s too late to do so...

...nothing ruins a human life more than talent unexpressed...

See you at The Ritz-Carlton in June!

With much love + giant respect,

You wake up to your alarm, press snooze, and roll back over for an extra few minutes of
sleep. The alarm goes off again, and you get up, groggy still, to shuffle off and quickly get
ready so you’re not late for work. Sound familiar? This is what your average person does;
wake up and let the day take over. But do you want to be average?

If you want to be like the top 5%, you need to stop acting like the 95%.

There is a way to start your day with purpose and energy, a pattern that will help you
accomplish more and increase your mental and physical health. It all starts with waking up at
5 a.m.

For most people, waking up at 5 a.m. without having to be somewhere sounds unappealing.
But if you want to be great, this is where to start.

Robin Sharma is a leadership guru who loves to help others become more productive. In The
5 AM Club: Own Your Morning. Elevate Your Life, he uses a fictitious story about a
billionaire mentor teaching a struggling artist and an entrepreneur about the importance of
waking up early to show how revolutionary it is for success. He makes a convincing case that
will persuade even the most sleep-loving people that to be truly excellent, we need to start
our days intentionally.

Here are the 3 biggest lessons I’ve learned from this book:

1. Waking up at 5 a.m. will provide you with the solitude and improved brain state to perform
like the pros.
2. Balance your four “interior empires” to achieve self-mastery.
3. Don’t waste time when you wake up early, use the 20/20/20 formula.

Let’s get up and get started!

The 5 AM Club Summary

Lesson 1: If you want to be successful, give your brain an advantage by

waking up at 5 a.m.

The billionaire tells the artist and entrepreneur that he has the key to their success. When they
arrive to meet him early the next morning, his first lesson is that waking up at 5 a.m. will give
your brain the advantage to succeed throughout the day.

Our minds have a limited amount of “bandwidth.” When we fill our day with social media,
interactions with those around us, television, and so on, we fill this bandwidth to the point
that we can’t take in anything more before the day is even over. If you wake up at 5 a.m., you
will find you can focus on one thing without these distractions and accomplish much more.
Our brain chemistry is different early in the morning. The brain’s prefrontal cortex, or that
part of you that makes you worry or analyze things over and over, is temporarily shut
down in the peaceful early hours. The tranquility at daybreak also has been shown to
increase dopamine and serotonin, helping you feel energized and at peace. What an awesome
way to start your day!

Lesson 2: Find balance in all four “interior empires” to find self-mastery.

Here’s another valuable lesson about success: don’t just focus on mindset. While thinking
optimistic thoughts will help you, there are three other “interior empires” when trying to find
balance.

Next to your Mindset, you also have your Healthset, Heartset, and Soulset.

Healthset refers to our physical health. One of the best ways to get ahead in life is to live
longer. If you want to be in charge of your empire, you need to live long enough to do this!
Committing to exercise will help you get much more out of life. It will also help you live
longer. It will help you have energy, lose some stress, and be happier.

Heartset is your emotional well-being. To cultivate a healthy emotional life, we need to

express ourselves and have healthy emotional attachments. This is vital to our success.

Lastly, Soulset is our spirituality. Whatever you believe, make time in the morning to connect
with your spirituality and yourself. Remember all of the things that make you who you are,
and why you are doing what you do. Too often we get caught up in the superficiality of life
and forget to connect with ourselves deeply.

Apply all these in the peaceful time we make at 5 a.m., and you will be well on your way to a
balanced, successful life.

Lesson 3: Use the 20/20/20 formula to set your day up for success.

By now you may be wondering if it’s so important to wake up at 5 a.m. What should I do
when I’m up so early? It’s entirely possible to wake up this early and waste the extra time by
using it to watch the news or scroll through social media.

The billionaire, however, lays out the perfect plan: the 20/20/20 rule, which says you should
20 minutes on three highly valuable activities each.

The first 20 minutes of that first hour should consist of exercise. Help your body wake up,
and make your body sweat. Sweating decreases cortisol, the hormone responsible for stress
and fear. Sweat also releases BDNF, the brain-repairing neurotropic factor, which speeds up
the creation of new neural pathways and repairs brain cells. If you want to think quicker,
make sure you get sweaty!

The next 20-minute block should consist of reflection and meditation. The peace you find this
early will make way for more inspiration than you thought possible. Make time to write these
in your journal. Take the time to focus on what you want out of the day before you get
distracted. And don’t forget meditation, which has been shown to reduce cortisol which will
reduce your stress.
Finally, make time to learn. Instead of wasting time on useless entertainment, spend time
reading and learning. Learn from the successful people of the world. What all the ultra-rich
have in common is a love of learning.
