Dear Patient,

Your bariatric surgeon has reviewed your medical history and has
CLEARED YOU FOR SURGERY! Congratulations.
Follow pre op diet closely according to your BMI, no cheating.

CONDITIONAL FOR SURGERY:

* If you are a patient diagnosed with high blood pressure, you must
take it in both arms simultaneously, twice a day for 7 days. Record
the results and send them by email 5 days before your surgery.
(Remember, before taking your blood pressure, you must be resting
for 10 minutes to get a reliable result)

* If you are a diabetic or pre-diabetic patient, you must send us your

Hb A1c results by email (not older than two months)

* APNEA patients must be under treatment and bring CPAP/BPAP

machine

*Patients with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease must be

under treatment.

-Important for women: If you are using a birth control that contains
hormones, you should stop it for at least one or two months before your
bariatric procedure and three months after your procedure and go to your
gynecologist for the adjustment of hormone treatment, as it increases the
risk of blood clots.

After having a pregnancy, you must wait at least 9 months to be able

to have the bariatric surgery.

*We also recommend that when you buy your plane tickets you also
buy the travel insurance in case you must change the dates
Here are some golden tips for patients to have a smoother recovery
from surgery...

1. START AN ANTACID ONE MONTH PRIOR YOUR BARIATRIC

SURGERY: (prevacid, nexium, dexilant, omeprazol, etc.) this is useful
because it will protect and heal the inner layer of the stomach, most
patients have already gastritis, GERD, heartburn. You will be on a liquid
diet + antibiotics for 5-7 days afterwards, this causes irritation on the
stomach, so this helps to protect your stomach, and doctor suggests
continuing treatment one month postop.

2. AVOID CAFFEINATED DRINKS, it is irritating to the stomach plus it is

a diuretic, and you will avoid having withdrawal symptoms right after
surgery.

3. STOP SMOKING, VAPING AND OF COURSE NO CHEWING

TABACO, does this needs explanation? it increases the risk of blood
clots, pneumonia, it delays the healing process of the surgery, increases
the risk of infections.

4. BRING YOUR OWN SCOPOLAMINE PATCHES, in Mexico there are

no patches, this is helpful for nausea as you recover; nausea is totally
normal on the first day postop, because of anesthesia, and surgery itself
is a gastrointestinal surgery. patients get zofran during hospitalization, +
metoclopramide, difenidol, prn. but sometimes they get very symptomatic,
and this patch helps a lot, you can get it at any pharmacy.

5.FOLLOW YOUR PREOP DIET, by doing this, you detox from a lot of
things and that will make you healthier, the liver shrinks, and you will
experience a smoother recovery. Plus, if you start with great attitude, the
chances of being successful and sticking to a different lifestyle are
higher!!!
