ABSTRACT
Introduction: The early loss of primary teeth due to caries or trauma leads to functional, aesthetic and
psychological sequelae in the pediatric patient and, therefore, the maintenance of these teeth in the oral
cavity until the period of physiological exfoliation is among the main objectives of Pediatric Dentistry.
Endodontic treatment in primary teeth indicated when there is irreversible pulpal inflammation or pulpal
necrosis, and it’s considered more conservative alternative in comparison with tooth extraction. Case
Report: A 8 year old patient came to RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman with his parents seeking for treatment a
tooth with a large cavity in the lower left posterior region and had been pain before. Intraoral
examination revealed deep caries in the occlusal tooth 74 which reaching the pulp, vitality (-), palpation
(-), percussion (-), hyperemia (-), edema (-). Radiographic examination of tooth 74 showed a radiolucent
image that had reached the pulp, the furcation is still in good condition and there are no periapical
lesions. The diagnosis of this case was pulp necrosis at tooth 74. Case Management: The treatment plan
to be carried out was non-vital pulpectomy on tooth 74 and used technique non-vital pulpectomy because
the tooth had already necrosis. Discussion: The filler used is ZOE. ZOE is selected because the tooth had
already necrosis. Conclusion: ZOE was the first material recommended as a root canal filling material
for primary teeth due to its superior anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, larger bacterial
inhibition zone, easy to obtain, radiopaque, cost effective, insoluble in tissue fluids, easy to mix, and good
working time.
