November 8th, 2023 Planning the Interviews

Before the next blog update is handed out, I am going to have gone to an A.A/N. A
meeting on November 18th. This stands for Alcoholics Anonymous, and Narcotics Anonymous. I
am attending this meeting with my mom’s cousin, who has also agreed to participate in my
interviews. I decided that going to a support group and experiencing it for myself would give me
a raw perspective on addiction. I look forwards to going to this meeting as it’s a great
opportunity. Before the meeting, I am going to construct my interview questions, so I know what
answers I am looking for while I’m there. I want my interview questions to be created and in
response, receive detailed answers. It is at 7:45am, so I am going to need to find a way there
whether I drive myself or get a ride. The meeting is supposed to be roughly an hour and thirty
minutes. My mom’s cousin will need to send a location so we can arrive on time. The only
obstacle I anticipate is my ability to wake up early in the morning. I have never been a morning
person and always find it difficult to get myself up. To ensure I am not tired for this event the
next morning, I am going to go to sleep much earlier than I normally would on a Friday night. So
far, I have gotten the first part of my notes done circling the basic facts of addiction. I am
eventually going to expand these into paragraphs to voice over in my documentary. I showed
examples of one of the core skills, communication. I employed this skill while I was reaching out
to my chosen individual about attending the support group meeting. I initially wanted to be
further with my capstone at this point in time, but I have been procrastinating. I am hoping that
after I attend the meeting, the process will speed up and I can really get started.
