Know pixel art on Procreate

Procreate with piXel art is not about

painting in normal way and transform
the painting into pixel but you paint
pixel from the start
You will learn how to paint step by step
and how to export pixel files in normal
size without blurry effect
Let’s get started
UNDERSTAND THE BRUSHES

As you can see I

named each brushes
base on the
function they are
1-4 pixel means this
brush minimum size
is 1 pixel and
maximum size is 4
pixel
Soft paint has a
little blur effect as
well as Blur edge
brush which is blurry
effect on the edge
The same goes with
1-10px
Minimum 1 px
Maximum 10px
UNDERSTAND THE BRUSHES
Glitter effect
comes with hard
mixed the more you
paint the more
bright it will be

Color changing brush

and Rainbow brush
are pressure control
the colors chamged
base on your
pressure

Blender brushes
Can use for blending
tools only

 How to draw pixel art
CREATE CANVAS
Normal pixel size for game designs is
144x144px but

Go to setting and
turn “Drawing guide”
on
Set the grid size to
1px
 HOW TO PAINT CUPCAKE
Sketch your cupcake

Paint flat shape in separate layers

 Use Light Glitch to add shadow and
light paint, this way will keep the
charming texture of pixel art

Grap Pixel soft paint

to paint the clear line
on the cream and
paper cup
Use Light Glitch to add texture on the
cake by using light brown color

Use Light Mosaic

with light pink for soft
sprinkles

Grap Thich Glitch

to add pink sprinkles
on the cream
 Write “Love” chocolate with
Pixel Blur Edge 1-10px

Duplicate layer
and change lower
layer to white color
and move slightly
downward
This will make the
Love more clear as
all of us wanted
Love to be
 I always use Pixel skip line for
Highlights

And Pixel mix

colors for main
lining
but I didn’t use
in this cupcake

Now we get this delicious cupcake

If you export file in this step you will
get the blurry file, Remember that we
create the file size only 144x144px
they are super tiny
Next I will show you step by step how
to export them in bigger size
HOW TO EXPORT PIXEL ART IN NORMAL
PAINTING SIZE
Go to setting tool
and select Canvas
>> Crop & Resize

Select setting and

we will add “0” on
both, I decide to go
with 1500x1500px
but you can set as
you like even to
3000px
 Merge all layers together
you will see that the drawing are so
tiny and cute compare to canvas

Use the select tool

make sure Magnetics is ‘on’
 Select ‘Nearest’ and choose
‘Nearest Neighbor’

Select ‘Uniform’ before expand object

it look blurry but no worry!
Your pixel art is beautifully expand in
to the bigger size
