Introduction
❑ SAP HANA (In memory) Database supports a wide variety of interfaces: ODBC (for C/C++ based programs), JDBC (for Java
applications), ODBO (for analytic applications), and internally the Python DBAPI and SQLDBC.

❑ SAP HANA Database Interfaces provide the implementation layer between the SAP HANA Database and the application.

❑ The supported interfaces components provide a database access Application Programming Interface (API) for their respective language
and environment. For some interface components, the API is defined by a standards body or an application.

❑ The HANA ETL certification program is targeted towards certifying the ETL tool’s capability to load data into SAP HANA. Data loads can
happen from non-SAP databases as well as SAP solutions running on non-SAP databases. HANA-ETL certification does not certify the
data extraction from SAP HANA.

Technical Details

The following system landscape prerequisites must be deployed by the partners in their Lab environment for the SAP HANA certification:

▪ SAP HANA-2.0 (SP02, latest revision) appliance, or SAP HANA 1.0 SP12
▪ SAP HANA tooling: Studio, Cockpit and/or Web development workbench
▪ SAP HANA drivers installed - Latest revision or install your own native drivers
▪ SAP Data sources connectivity (ECC, ERP, BW, SCM, CRM etc.)
▪ Non-SAP data sources connectivity (3rd party Applications/Databases)
▪ Partner ETL tool landscape configured and connected to SAP HANA via ODBC/JDBC
▪ Connectivity to SAP HANA Cloud instance on a supported infrastructure as a service platform -> For cloud based ETL scenarios
▪ Detailed technical test requirements: SAP HANA ETL Test Plan

Certification Process Overview
Certification Scenario SAP’s Integration & Certification Center (ICC) team and potential partner, discuss the partners solution
1 Identification and appropriate certification scenarios

Certification SAP ICC sends certification contracts. If applicable, Partner/Independent Software Vendor (ISV) signs the

Contracts & Payments contracts and completes the payment

Kick-Off Meetings SAP ICC consultant schedules kick off meeting and shares the certification testing requirements, which
3 with SAP ICC will include the required documentation ( ICC Test Plan, Technical Product Profile, test cases etc. )

Partners/ISVs prepare a demo before the actual testing( optional), modify application based on test
Certification requirement (if required), schedule follow up meetings/Q&A with ICC, prepare the end to end functional test

Preparation cases and functional documentation, complete the Technical Product Profile, submit completed
documentation to ICC.

5 Testing & Results SAP partner/ISV inform SAP ICC when they are ready for testing. Testing is done remotely in SAP
partner/ISV system under the supervision of the ICC consultant.

• Receive SAP-certified logo.

6 Publish • Global certification listings in Online Directory, a “SAP-certified” tag and copy of the certificate will also be
provided for the certified solutions listed in SAP Store . We encourage partners to publish press releases
and​ success stories regarding certification.
