Q.1 (a) Write short notes on: Gear types and selection aspects. 03
(b) Explain the different types of gear tooth profiles/system with neat sketch. 04
(c) Design a spur gear pair to transmit 7.5 kW power from an electric motor 07
shaft running at 1000 rpm to a machine shaft from the following
specifications.
Speed reduction ratio = 4:1 Service factor = 1.50
Exact center distance between the gear shafts axes = 250 mm
Tooth system = 200 full depth involute
Material of pinion and gear - carbon steel- 50C4 steel
