Instructions >
Head and body

In Merry Cream or Nordic Blue.
Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: inc 6 times [12]
Rnd 3: (inc in next st, 1sc) 6 times [18]
Rnd 5 - 8: sc in all 24 st [24] - 4 rounds
Rnd 9: (inv dec, 2sc) 6 times [18]
Place the safety eyes between rounds 6 and 7,
approx 6 st apart. If you’re using black beads, stitch
them when the head is completed and stuffed.
Rnd 11: working in Front Loops Only,
sc in all 12 st [12] 1 2
Stuff the head and continue stuffing as you go.
Rnd 18: inv dec 5 times [5]
Fasten off, using a needle pick up all the front loops 3 4 5
of the 5 sts and pull tight to close.
Using black embroidery thread and tapestry needle,
embroidery a tiny nose and mouth between rounds

Do not close the first round. Fasten off leaving a tail

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing the arms
between rounds 12 and 13.
Then sew the legs between rounds 14 and 15

Wick

ROW 1: sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 2 ch
Fasten off {img 3}, sew to the candle with the yarn
tail and weave in the ends {img 4}.
Flame
Start in MDR or NB. 10 11 12

leaving a tail for sewing
Attach MR or NR to next st, ch1, inc in next st,

Fasten off and hide away the ends.
Using the first colour tail sew the flame to the tip
of the wick {img 7}.
Using the metallic thread and a tapestry needle add

a trim around the flame, hide away the ends {img
8 - 9}. If you want to decorate the candle add some
diagonal stripes or other patterns to the body {img
10}.
For a bit more detail embroider some dripping wax

along the top of the candle. Using the same yarn
colour as the candle mark out the position of the
drip with a few long stitches, then wrap yarn around
these stitches to build up the layers. {img 11 - 14}
Hide away any remaining loose ends.

and a tapestry needle pick up the front loops of all 8 13 14 15
stitches and pull tight to close. Hide away any loose
ends {img 7}.
Wings
Make 2 in MM or NG.
Ch5, start 2nd ch from hook, work along the back

hump of the chain.
ROW 1: 1 sc, 2hdc, 1dc [4] {img 8}
Fasten off, sew the wings either side of the body
along the line of the colour change {img 9}.
Embroider beak and feet using MBor NB yarn. First

add 2 horizontal stitches to mark the base of the
beak, turn sideways and wrap yarn around the base
3 times, turn sideways again and wrap yarn around
the previous wraps 2 times, weave yarn back to
base and hide the end {img 10 - 12}.
Embroider the feet - first mark out the three toes

for each foot, then wrap more yarn around each of
the strands to build up the toes {img 13}.

Bow
Make in MR or NR, ch3.
ROW 1: 1dc in first ch, ch2, sl st in first ch, ch2, 1dc
in first ch, ch2, sl st in 1st ch
Fasten off, wrap the yarn tail around the middle a
few times and sew to the centre front of the body 2
rows below the colour change {img 14 - 16}.
Party Hat
Make in MG or NS.
RND 2: sc in all 6 st
RND 3: (inc in next st, 1sc) 3 times [9]
RND 4: sc in all 9 st {img 17}
Fasten off, sew to the top of the head.
Party Hat Bobble

Attach MC or NW yarn to the tip of the hat, make 1
bobble (ch2, dc3tog in same st), fasten off and sew
in the end, folding bobble over the tip to look like a
pompom {img 18}.
Hide away any loose ends to finish.

Day 6: Drum

Make 2 in MB or NB.
Rnd 3: (inc in next st, 1sc) 6 times [18] 4 5 6
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Body
In MM or NR. Ch24 {img 1}.
Rnd 1: slst into the fist ch to join in a ring {img 2},
7 8 9
sc in all 24 ch [24]
Assembly
In MG or NS, join the top of the drum to last round of
the body, insert the hook into both layers together 10 11 12
and sc all around to join them {img 4 - 5}.
Cut a circle from a recycled piece of cardboard to
get the drum in shape and insert the circle into the
drum {img 6}.
In MG or NS, join the bottom of the drum to the first 13 14 15
round of the body, insert the hook into both layers
together and sc all around to join them. Stuff the
drum a couple of stitches before the end.
Fasten off and weave in ends {img 8}.
embroider diagonal stitches around the body of the

Embroider a french knot (or a fake french knot
as shown in img 14 - 17) on to each corner of the
previous embroidery motif {img 18}.

Make in MB or NR. Ch2, work in rows turning at the
end of each row.
ROW 1: inc in 2nd ch from hook, turn [2]
ROW 2: ch1, 1sc, inc in next st, turn [3] 4 5 6
ROW 3: ch1, 2sc, inc in next st, turn [4]
ROW 7 - 11: ch1, sc in all 7 st, turn - 5 rows
This makes the front {img 1}.

Next 10 rows make the base.

Next make the other side.

Fasten off.
Sides & Roof

Make 2 either side of Base in MB or NR, work in
rows turning at the end of each row {img 3 - 5}.
ROW 1: With the right side facing up (side where you
can see the front loops leftover from back loop only
rows) work 10sc evenly along the base, turn [10]
ROW 2 - 6: ch1, sc in all 10 st, turn - 5 rows
Next set of rows makes the roof, alternating back
loop and front loop rows will create a lined texture.
Work in both loops for a smoother roof.
ROW 7: in BLO ch1, sc in all 10 st, turn [10]
ROW 8: in FLO, ch1, sc in all 10 st, turn [10]
ROW 10: in FLO, ch1, sc in all 10 st, turn [10]
Fasten off {img 6}, repeat on other side of the base
{img 7}.

Assembly 8 9
For a decorative seam join the sides together
using crab stitch. If you prefer you can also sew it
together with yarn or use a single crochet stitch
instead.
Pinch together the two sides of the roof {img 8}, 10 11 12

attach MC or NW yarn to the left corner, work an
even row of crab st along the roof top.
Next working down the side closest to you join
together the front of the house and the side {img 9}.
Keep the crab stitches going in same direction for
an even look. Once you have reached the bottom of
13 14 15
the wall go over to other side by slip stitching along
the free front loops left from Rows 12-13 {img 10}.
Then turn the house and join the other side back up
to the roof {img 11}. Fasten off yarn.
Add stuffing and go around the other side of the
house the same way {img 12 - 13}.
16 17 18
Adding decorative edge to the roof - attach yarn to
the lowest free front loops of the roof section {img
14}, ch3, sl st in next st, ch3, sl st in next st, carry on
all down the edge {img 15}.
Finish the house by embroidering windows and 19 20

doors to the sides and anything else you fancy
{img 16 - 20} - the more the merrier!

Day 8: Squirrel

Add stuffing to the head and body, top up stuffing
when nearly finished. {img 4}
Fasten off, pick up all 7 front loops with a yarn
needle and pull tight to close the opening.
Tail
The tail is worked through the back of body {img 5}.
Using MR or NG attach yarn to just below the neck,
ch5, sl st in same st {img 6}, ch6, sl st one row down
the back, ch7, sl st in same st, *ch8, slip st lower
down, ch8, sl st in same st* repeat until you reach
the bottom of the squirrel - feel free to add more
ch8’s for a fluffier tail! {img 7} Fasten off, hide away
loose ends.
Ears
Make 2 in MR or NG, leave a starting tail about 12cm
for sewing to hat.
Row 1: ch4 (counts as 1dc and 1ch), 2dc in 1st ch [3]
Fasten off, trim tip into fluffy ear tuft, separate the
strands {img 8}.
Legs
Make 2 in MR or NG.
Rnd 3: 2sc, 3sc in next st, 2sc [7]
Fasten off, sew to the sides of the body.

Arms 9 10 11
Make 2 in MR or NG.
Fasten off, sew to the sides of the body.
Tummy 12 13 14
Make in MC or NW.
Fasten off, sew to the middle of the body just below
the head {img 9 - 11}.
15 16 17
Hat
Make in MM or NR.
Rnd 1: start in a magic ring, ch3 (doesn’t count as
st), 14dc in ring, sl st in 1st dc [14] {img 12}
Rnd 2 - 4: sc in all 14 st
Fasten off, turn up the last round to make the hat
brim {img 13}.
Add a pompom in MC or NW to the top of the hat

and sew to the top of the squirrel’s head {img 14 -
15}. Sew the ears underneath the brim {img 16}.
To finish up embroider a little nose to the front of

the head! {img 17}
