Fun is what you make it.​ Fun can be customized to fit your personality and your kids. You don’t
have to feel uncomfortable or make a huge mess. ​Fun is relative.

These Fun Days & Activities can be used:


● To boost learning fun
● As motivation to complete work
● As brain breaks
● As boredom busters
● In your homeschool morning time plans
● To supplement curriculum
● To create special moments & memories

The wonderful thing about these fun days and activities is that you can do them
whenever your schedule permits. They are low stress, as mess-free as possible, and easy
to implement.

1​ New Year’s Day ​ ​Make a bucket list for family fun in the new year. * Let each family
member select activities, games, movies, & meals to celebrate.

2 Science Fiction Day ​Read a sci-fi book or watch a movie to discuss. What was your
favorite part? Make a list of science fiction movies & books you’d like to read or watch this year.

B​ uffet Day ​Do you have a favorite buffet that you like to visit as a family? Make a trip!
Or set up a yummy buffet at home with dishes that all your family members love.

Cream Puff Day ​Buy some cream puffs (or make your own!) to enjoy as a family. What
kind of toppings or flavorings would you like?

3 Drinking Straw Day ​Build structures using plastic straws. How many different shapes
can you make? Use straws to write your name.

C​ hocolate Covered Cherries ​Celebrate this special day with making or buying chocolate
covered cherries. What type of chocolate do you think would taste best with cherries?

4 Spaghetti Day ​Make spaghetti & let it cool. Use to make letters, numbers, & more! Use
dry spaghetti & playdough. Flatten a mound of playdough & stick spaghetti
so vertical. Stack CheeriosⓇ or similar cereal with hold in middle. How
many can you fit on each spaghetti?
Trivia Day ​Play a trivia game today!​ Or take out an almanac or fact book & quiz each
other for some trivia fun.

5 Bird Day ​Draw a bird & use craft supplies, like feathers, stickers, or washi tape to decorate.
Talk about your favorite type of bird. How many birds can you count in your yard today? In a week?

Whipped Cream Day ​Play a game that uses whipped cream, like Pie Face!. Or place a few
gummy bears in pie tin, cover in whipped cream, place hands behind back, & retrieve candy with head
first! Or just enjoy some on a favorite treat :)

6 Bean Day ​ Trace different shapes or a scene on cardstock. Glue assorted beans to
cardstock to make a picture. How many types of beans can you identify? Enjoy some of your favorite
beans for a snack or meal.

Shortbread Day ​Make or buy shortbread & enjoy as a tasty treat! Maybe pair it with a
lovely poetry teatime* to also celebrate Hot Tea Month?

Cuddle Up Day ​Cuddle up & enjoy a read aloud, audiobook, or music. Enjoy this special
time with your family :)

7 Bobblehead Day ​Design your own bobblehead! Get out some paper for some bobblehead fun.
Make it to look like you, a hero, or a fictional character. Make a bobblehead out of playdoh or clay.

8 Argyle Day ​What is argyle? Make your own argyle pattern. What colors will you use?
What types of clothes would you use your argyle pattern for?

Bubble Bath Day ​Take a bath & play with the bubbles.

English Toffee ​Enjoy some english toffee for a tasty treat!


9 Static Electricity Day ​Blow up balloons, rub on your hair, & stick to the wall. What other
ways can you explore static electricity today in your homeschool?

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day ​Make a card to thank your local law enforcement
officials. Deliver or send it to show your appreciation. What other ways can you show your thanks to
police officers?

Apricot Day ​Buy fresh or dried apricots & enjoy for a healthy treat.
10 Bittersweet Chocolate Day ​Do a taste test of different chocolates. Try bittersweet, dark,
unsweetened, milk, & any other flavors you can find. Describe each. Take a vote to discover which type

Cut Your Energy Costs Day ​Talk with your family about different ways you could save
energy in your home. Pick one & get started today!

11 Milk Day ​What type of milk do you like to drink the most? What do you like to add milk
to? For a fun experiment, pour some milk onto a plate. Add a few drops of food coloring & swirl with a
plastic straw. Describe the colors.

Step in a Puddle & Splash Your Friends Day ​What a silly celebration! If you have any
puddles near you, take a ruler & measure how deep it is. If not puddle, pour water into
different size bowls & measure the depth of the water.

12 Marzipan Day ​Enjoy some marzipan. Make your own (sugar or honey, almond meal, almond oil
extract) or buy some to try.

Pharmacist Day ​What does a pharmacist do? How can a pharmacist help you?

13 Rubber Ducky Day ​Design your own rubber duck! Learn how​ to draw a rubber duck outline​,
pick a theme, & have fun decorating your rubber duck. Tell your family why you chose the theme, colors,
& anything else special about your rubber duck.

Sticker Day ​Get out your favorite stickers & create an awesome picture or card to share with a
friend or family member. Or make your own stickers with plain white labels!

14 Dress Up Your Pet Day ​If you have a pet that will cooperate, dress it up! Or draw your pet or
one that you would like) & add some super cool dress-up clothes.

cowboy hat, or other?

16 Fig Newton Day ​Have some fig newtons for a tasty treat to celebrate this special day!

19 Popcorn Day ​Make some popcorn for a yummy treat. Blow a piece of popcorn with a straw
across a table or floor. How far can you go in 10 seconds? 30 seconds?

Tin Can Day ​Take a tin can with no sharp edges out of your recycling bin. Clean it & decorate
to use as a pencil holder or other fun container. What other ways can you use an empty tin can?

20 Cheese Lovers Day ​Pull apart string cheese to write letters, numbers, even your name. Have
a cheese tasting party with a variety of cheeses & describe each.

Penguin Awareness Day ​How many different types of penguins are there? Where do they
live? Pretend to be a penguin-waddle around & have some fun.

Disc Jockey Day ​Have a dance party & pretend to be a D.J. (disc jockey). Take turns, listen, &
dance to different types of music.

21 Hugging Day ​Give big hugs to all your loved ones! Count how many hugs you give today :)

Granola Day ​Make or buy some granola to enjoy with your family. What special ingredients can
you add to your granola to make it even more tasty?

Squirrel Appreciation Day ​What type of animal is a squirrel? What do squirrels eat?
Where do they live? Pretend to be a squirrel!

22 Blonde Brownie Day ​Make a batch of brownies today & enjoy during read aloud or music
appreciation.

H​ ot Sauce Day ​What is hot sauce made out of? Try a tiny bit. Do you like it or not? What type

Inspire Your Heart with Art Day ​Take out some art books, posters, or pictures. Spend time
appreciating the art. Discuss the colors, shapes, & styles. Make some art of your own!

1 Serpent Day ​Make letter or number snakes with playdough. Write your name with a playdough
snake!

Baked Alaska Day ​What ingredients are in the Baked Alaska dessert? Make or buy some to
enjoy with your family!

2 Groundhog Day ​Read a book or watch a video about this holiday. What does the groundhog
predict for this year? Do you agree?

Heavenly Hash Day ​Buy or make some of this sweet treat to enjoy. Depending on your recipe,
you’ll be enjoying some type of marshmallow creme or whip with chocolate or fruit. Yum!

3 Carrot Cake Day ​Make a list of ingredients that you think go into carrot cake. Find a recipe &
compare. Either make or buy some carrot cake to enjoy with your family.

Feed the Birds Day ​Make some homemade bird feeders out of empty toilet paper rolls, peanut
butter, bird seed, & yarn. Hang in your yard & watch some birds!

4 Homemade Soup Day ​Make a pot of your favorite homemade soup. Talk about why it’s your
favorite.

​ Thank a Mail Carrier Day ​Draw a picture or make a card to thank your mail person. What are

Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day ​With a parent’s permission, enjoy some ice cream for
breakfast. (If you aren’t allowed to have ice cream for breakfast, save this sweet treat to enjoy later in
the day.)

5 Weatherperson’s Day ​What is a meteorologist? How do they predict the weather? What type
of weather do you have today? Use this weather chart to record the weather for this week.*

World Nutella Day ​Enjoy some Nutella or other type of chocolate spread for a yummy treat!
6 Frozen Yogurt Day ​Make a list of favorite frozen yogurt toppings. For a special treat, go out for
frozen yogurt or buy some to enjoy at home.

Chopsticks Day ​Use a set of chopsticks (or popsicle sticks if you don’t have any) to practice
picking up different objects, like pom poms, cotton balls, or other soft objects. Try to pick up food like
grapes, raisins, cheese cubes, & other small food pieces.

7 Periodic Table Day ​How many elements can you name without looking at the periodic table?
What are their properties? What elements did you miss? ​ Play a fun periodic table game!

Send a Card to a Friend Day ​Design a card with a friend or family member in mind. Include
their favorite colors & things. Write a special message & send it today!

8 National Boy Scouts Day ​Do you know any Boy Scouts? What types of activities does this
organization do?

Kite Flying Day ​Draw a kite & decorate using different colors & patterns. Make your own
mini-kite using paper, wood craft sticks or wood sticks, and yarn or string.

9 Bagel Day ​Have some tasty bagels for breakfast or snack. Buy different flavors & cut into
little pieces. Which type do you like best? Take a vote for the most popular type of bagel.

Pizza Day ​Enjoy some pizza today! Make breakfast pizza bagels or have mini-pizzas for snack or
lunch. Get your favorite pizza to enjoy with your family for dinner!

10 Umbrella Day ​Make an umbrella craft. Use a cupcake liner for top & pipe cleaner for a
handle. Decorate cupcake liner. Or use a real umbrella upside down to catch soft objects like balloons
or dry sponges.

great place to make a friend is the library (just remember to be quiet & stay with your parents!)
