3 Intended use
The system is an assistance system and supports operators during manual activities in production. It
identifies the operator's hand and recognises whether picking and handling processes are being done
correctly.

w ifm mate consists of several components. The individual components may only be used
together as a system and not individually. GB
w The individual components of the system have a fixed definition. Third-party components
must not be added to the system.

w A monitor is necessary for the intended use (ideally with touch panel). A monitor is not
included in the scope of delivery. A monitor can be ordered optionally.

5

4 Items supplied
• E21334 ifm mate 2D/3D camera
• ZJF026 IPC incl. power supply, connection cable, mounting base, pre-installed software
• E12632 Ethernet connection cable

w No screws for camera installation are included in the scope of delivery.

The operator's workflows can be flexibly defined. The system checks whether the work processes are
being carried out correctly.
During the familiarisation process, instruction videos can support the operator via the monitor.

6 Mounting
The individual components of the system are mounted as shown:
• the camera above the working area,
• the monitor is at the operator's viewing height and outside the camera's detection range,
• the IPC below the working area.
GB
Mounting the camera above the working area
The camera is mounted above the working area if the following aspects apply:
• the picking and handling areas are arranged next to each other,
• the detection range is limited to the working area.

Mounting the camera with lateral offset

The camera is mounted with a lateral offset from the working area using a bracket if the following
applies:
• thepicking areas are arranged above each other,
• the detection range is limited to the working area.
Laterally offset mounting is particularly suitable if, for example, mounting boxes stacked on top of each
other are to be detected.

The operator must not cover the picking and handling areas.

9
OXZ100

Fig. 3: Camera mounted with a lateral offset from the working area

The mounting location must meet the following requirements:

• The camera is mounted parallel to the working area.
• The entire working area is covered by the camera.
• The operator's hands are fully visible to the camera during activities.
Preparing the installation of the camera

u Determine a suitable mounting location for the camera.

u Drill a mounting plate 4x for the camera (see previous picture).
w A mounting plate is not included in the scope of delivery.
Mounting the camera
u Secure the camera with appropriate screws.
w No screws for camera installation are included in the scope of delivery.

Cooling the camera

w The camera is cooled passively.
u Allow air circulation around the camera.
u Observe the specified mounting distances.

w No additional lighting is required to operate the camera. Normal ambient light is sufficient.
