Grammar: THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE - (REGULAR)

The simple past tense is used to talk about what happened sometime ago.

To show past tense we generally add:

1. ‘d’ - to the verbs ending with ‘e’.
Eg : Teena danced for the party last night.

2. ‘ed’ to the base form of the verb.

Eg: They visited Japan last summer.

When the verb ends with ‘y’, we change ‘y’ to ‘i’ and add ‘ed’ .
Eg: He carried a large bag.

We use words like yesterday, last week, last night and so on when we talk
about the past.
Eg : 1. I watched cartoon movies last night. (watch)
2. John baked a chocolate cake yesterday. (bake)
