Let’s Understand
Sequencing of Events means putting events of a story in
time order of when they happened. The events in a story
also includes the actions of the characters or things that
happen to the characters. Sometimes they happen at the
beginning, middle or end of the story.

- Signal words like first, next, last, before, after, and finally
may be used to help you figure out the events in order.
- Using of picture cues, such as images from a book
that you can arrange in sequence order.
Let’s read
Ara’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
Ara made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. First, she
spread peanut butter on one slice of bread. Next, she
spread jelly on one slice of bread. After spreading the jelly
on, she put the two slices of bread together. Finally, she ate
the sandwich. It was delicious!
Mona went to the beach. First, she played in the sand.
Then, she built sandcastle. Last, she ate popsicle ice cream.
She had fun.

an early swimming. Let us swim early so we will not get
burned. We should bring our lunch and let us eat our food

the sequence of events. It helps you to retell the most
important parts of the story in order. Look at some keywords
that can help unlock the mystery in figuring out when
something happens.
