Let me die for you(Euthanasia)

Euthanasia is the practice of ending the life of a patient to limit the patient’s suffering. The
patient in question would typically be terminally ill or experiencing great pain and suffering. The
word “euthanasia” itself comes from the Greek words “EU” (good) and “Thanatos” (death). The idea
is that instead of condemning someone to a slow, painful, or undignified death, euthanasia would
allow the patient to experience a relatively “good death.”As a medical student, I have seen a lot of
movies portraying this kind of situation and yet it was hard to decide because both sides are equally
right but one can only be an acceptable one.

Euthanasia has different types, but the most popular one is mercy killing, wherein the term
“mercy-killing” usually refers to active, involuntary, or nonvoluntary, other-administered euthanasia.
In other words, someone kills a patient without their explicit consent to end the patient’s suffering.
As it was said there is no consent involved, which makes it harder to accept. Another is Active
euthanasia, killing a patient by active means, for example, injecting a patient with a lethal dose of a
drug. Sometimes called “aggressive” euthanasia. Passive euthanasia is intentionally letting a patient
die by withholding artificial life support such as a ventilator or feeding tube. Some ethicists
distinguish between withholding life support and withdrawing life support (the patient is on life
support but then removed from it). There is also what we call Self-administered euthanasia, the
patient administers the means of death. Being a medical student, makes me realize how important the
life we have is, some can't enjoy it while some are always in pain. It is painful to watch someone
dying, but it was a lot harder to see someone who's suffering. Sometimes I tend to question myself
why do we all have to die? Some would say it is because once we finished our mission it is time for
us to give back the life we used to have, but why in reality it doesn't seem so. Is a baby considered to
have missions? But later on, died because he/she was a premature baby. As a medical student who
will be a future mediator, I could see that even some are willing to live and endure the pain, but the
people who surround him/her have given up, isn't it too much for us to determine if someone's life
ended there? Seems to be unbelievable, but that's reality.

We all human beings seek the ultimate meaning of reality, not realizing it was shown in front
of us. But despite our differences, we have no similarities in expressing our perspectives. For me, as
a moral person euthanasia will still be acceptable if we are being practical in life. Why? If we
continue the medication, while the patient had given up the money will be wasted it is because our
life doesn't end there, we still have the kids and they deserve to enjoy the good life far from the way
we used to have. But lastly, It doesn't mean I do agree with it, I don't consider our God of course I
do, and I believe that euthanasia only works depending on the situation.
