Personal Statement

1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in

which you have positively influenced others, helped
resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over
Time.

An example of my leadership experiences start from when I was a young kid playing
football and leading a group of kids on the football field. In high school I joined Link Crew which
gave me the opportunity to lead. I have learned from a young age that one of my biggest
passions is leading. In my junior and senior years of high school I led groups of freshmen and
taught them about school and how to become a better student and person in general.

I have been on many sports teams and learned how to become a leader. The first time I
remember becoming a leader when I was quarterback of my flag football team. I was put at that
important position because of my leadership skills and passion for leading. Grabbing everyone's
attention and making sure everyone is on the same page comes easy to me. Making sure
people know what to do and guiding people is a strong suite of mine. Not only on the football
field as a child but the baseball field my whole childhood. As a freshman I played on both the
freshman team and the jv team playing 4 games a week and leading a winning team.

My junior and senior year of high school I joined Link Crew which is a club dedicated to leading
freshmen through their first year of high school. We put on events and check on every freshman
weekly. I am definitely one of the most popular Link Leaders and I am not afraid to put myself
out there.
I love to meet new people and I always try to make a good first impression. I like being
sociable, I think it is very beneficial since with my generation people prefer to communicate over
a screen. I always tell people I am willing to help out with anything.

3. What would you say is your greatest talent or skill? How

have you developed and demonstrated that talent over time?
My greatest skill is being able to be a leader. I find it easy building relationships and
networking with people. Another talent of mine is not being afraid to put myself out there and I
can grab the attention of people easily. I am passionate about helping others and teaching
others. I take almost every opportunity that comes my way to lead or teach. I get along with
younger people easy and have a strong passion and care for those learning.
I have demonstrated leading and teaching skills through a club I am involved with in high
school called Link Crew. I have a group of freshmen who I look after and make sure high school
can be a safe and welcoming environment. I check up on their grades and their mental health. I
try to bring them happiness by making positive comments and playing games with them.
I like to put myself out there and I am not afraid of public speaking or controlling a crowd.
I have done a lot of public speaking and being in front of crowds. I have been in many school
rallies and always try to get involved. I was always not afraid to put myself out there. I was
always a fun and goofy kid. I can tell I have grown throughout high school that I have been more
willing to be in the spotlight. I learned during my junior year that high school was ending fast so I
always try to have the most fun and make the most memories and leave an impact on my
school.
Another skill of mine is managing people and organizing events. I have learned how
good and how much I enjoyed setting up and preparing events. I got this opportunity and
experience through Link Crew. When we were setting up events I felt like it was my time to
shine.

7. What have you done to make your school or your

community a better place?
One of my favorite things to do is help out my school. Every chance I get to help out I
always do. From setting up and preparing for rallies and freshman orientation to being a ta and
helping out in class. One of my biggest passions is helping out people, it's something that I've
learned about myself in high school and a character trait I get from my grandpa. I think it's really
valuable that people help their community because it will build a stronger and tighter community.
The reason why I love helping people is because I believe in treating others how you would
want to be treated. In high school I loved setting up rallies and especially freshman orientation
and all the prep for that big event. I also love being a TA for a teacher. I get a chance to help
other students and I get the opportunity to help my teacher out to make the class flow better.
Being a TA I get to grade papers and give feedback to students and give help. Whenever
there is a sub I always tell the sub what the students should be working on and I help teach the
class. I like building relationships with the students so they feel more comfortable and they know
if they can’t go to the teacher for help they can ask me.
I believe that having a good and tight community is important. I haven't done a lot to help
out my community but I have done a lot to help out my school which is a part of my community. I
love helping out my family and friends whenever someone needs help. I am always more than
happy to help. I am very close with my family and I feel that is important to life.
8. Beyond what has already been shared in your
application, what do you believe makes you a strong
candidate for admission to the University of California?

What makes me a strong candidate for the University of California is that I’m a determined,
hard-working, motivated individual who wants to make an impact on society. I have a great work
ethic and the drive to succeed. I want to pursue a degree in criminal justice and enroll in a nrotc
program. I have always worried about my future so I have always made sure that I will be
successful. I believe that I would have a positive impact on campus as I do in high school. I
always participate in school activities and look for ways to help my school.

I have shown that I am a hard worker by getting straight A’s through my junior and senior year of
high school. I realized how important high school is to go to a good college after my sophomore
year so I was determined to finish high school with better grades. I studied harder and made
sure to be on top of assignments. I am not only a hard worker with education but as well with
helping out in my school. I loved helping set up school events and I was so determined because
the passion I had to make a difference. Sometimes I viewed it as a competition, I always tried to
be the hardest worker in the room.

I have always been ambitious and concerned about my future. I knew from a young age that I
had potential and that I wanted to be as successful as I could. I always looked up to police
officers and my older brother was a military policeman and I think that made me always
interested in law enforcement. I've always wanted to do something heroic but also protect and
serve my community. I want to pursue my dream of getting a degree in criminal justice and
becoming a police officer and applying to the fbi or any other major law enforcement
opportunities.
