Module 1: Career in focus [GIS specialist]

The aim is to introduce some GIS concepts and gain practical experience with software that GIS
professionals use. Once comfortable, they will apply their knowledge of Earth observation and
develop a solution to a problem that a farmer in different regions face. We will investigate the work
life of GIS Professional. {Q&A session}

Module 2: Career in focus [Urban planner]

In this module, we will investigate the principles of urban planning and the importance thereof.
Learners will have the opportunity to use their skills to improve a town as well as plan an imaginary
town of their own. We will investigate the career of an urban planner. {Q&A session}

Module 3: Career in focus [Citizen scientist]

This module aims to introduce learners to the world of applied science. Theory and practical will be
delivered in tandem during each activity. At the end of this module, learners will investigate citizen
scientists around the world and write a final report about findings and which kind of scientist they are.

Module 4: Career in focus [Eco advocate]

In this final module, learners will develop a sense of awareness for conservation and investigate how
Earth observation technologies can aid conservation. We will zoom in on conservation efforts in
South Africa and develop ideas on how we use innovation to protect wildlife.
