Death of a salesman

The story of this play highlights the American Dream belief and
its effect on people. Willy Loman and his family struggle against
the new changes that happened. They want to follow the
American Dream that anyone can be successful and wealthy.
Willy is an old salesman who cannot continue doing his job and
travel anymore because of his old age. Thus, his wife Linda
cares for him and tells him to ask his boss, Howard, to give him
a local office in New York. Willy has two children Biff and
Happy, Biff is the oldest son who is handsome and smart, so
that willy thinks that he will be rich, he works on a farm outside
New York but he moves back home to start his own work. While
the youngest, Happy, shares the same attitudes with his father.
Through the play, so many things happen and none of them gets
what he wants. Willy gets fired due to his poor performance
and Biff doesn’t succeed to get the loan that he wants, and
things get worse when Biff knows about his father affair with
woman in Boston, so he is very angry. Willy has a wrong belief,
however, he wants to be wealthy following the American
Dream
but instead of this, he follows the illusion of it that if you want
to be rich you need to be well-liked personality and attractive.
In the end, Willy fails and things don’t go the way he wants, so
he commits suicide in crash to let his son Biff take advantage of
the life insurance. Finally, Biff is the only one who realises that
they were following the wrong belief, while happy continues to
follow his father's footsteps.
