Factors Influencing Students’ Choice to Pursue a Broker Career

Scope and Delimitation

This study aimed to explore and understand the various factors that
influencing in students’ choice and decision-making process to pursue a career as a
broker. It aims to capture the current dynamics of career decision-making by
focusing on the present, rather than historical trends. The researchers seek to define
specific boundaries and focus areas, which are crucial for the design, execution, and
interpretation of the study.

The study will take place in a particular area, which is the Gordon College.
This geographic scope allows the researchers to provide a localized perspective on
the factors influencing students’ choice and decisions to become brokers. By
focusing on a specific area, it is expected to gather different circumstances that
might be the influence in a students’ career choice.

This study will target from 1st to 4th year students of Gordon College with a
major of Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration. This investigation will
ensure that the investigation aligns with the academic and career of the chosen
target population.

The research will explore various factors of influencing students’ career


choices, including their personal interest, education background, families and peers
influences, career guidance, and industry trends, with the aim of understanding the
complicated factors influencing these decisions.

This research acknowledges demographic factors like their gender, age,


cultural background, and financial status, but will not extensively analyze as a
primary influencing career choices. However, it will be more focus on understanding
broader factors influencing on career decisions.

The research focuses on understanding the factors influencing students'


initial decisions to pursue a broker career, excluding actual career outcomes or
experiences of those who have already entered the profession. Therefore, it will
focus on factors specific to broker career decisions, excluding comparative analyses
between broker careers and non-broker professions. So that, the primary focus is on
comprehending the underlying factors, rather than prescribing specific actions or
solutions.
