THE 57 BUS

BLOG
ALBERT FERNÁNDEZ

How would you feel if you didn't feel like any gender? We

will explain a real situation to you. The Bus 57 is a story

that focuses on young readers interested in exploring the

complexities of identity, empathy, and social justice. The

book is real story, based in Sasha, an LGBTQ teenager.

The challenges she faces in a society that often fights to

understand and accept differences. Sasha's character

development is a major theme throughout the book as

they try to figure out their own identities and the

consequences of a traumatic event. From her fight, she

demonstrates in the story the capacity of social

adaptation.
Throughout the story, the author skillfully captures

Sasha's emotional confusions, encouraging readers

to empathize based on her experiences. Sasha's

character development highlights the importance of

acceptance and understanding and extend themes of

tolerance and adaptation in modern society. The

development of the story explains the different

adaptation problems that exist for people of

different genders than usual. It gives us an

understanding of their difficulty by describing their

experiences and their ways of acting.

In my opinion, the book carries out a moving and

timely narrative. It is true that the social issues that

the book is complex. Also, from my point of view, this

book is focused on teenagers and not on young

children. The reason for this is that it can be

confusing for children who do not have clear

concepts. Apart from the vocabulary used in the book

that refers to terms like "they” and could be difficult

to understand. Finaly, for me it is a little bit

confusing reading the book for the only reason of the

vocabulary based in the type of gender that people

had during the novel. Leaving that aside, it is not a

bad book to make society understand that each

person's way of being must be respected in order to

have equality among all human beings.
