SUBJECT: Flight Report on an Encounter with US F18 Aircraft

2. Per above reference, two (2) AS-211 Aircraft with Tail Nr 008 and 801 were
directed to perform Maritime Patrol over Malampaya Area jived with the ferry of aircraft from
RPVP to RPUF on 23 Mar 2022.

3. In this connection, the flight was cleared for an IFR Clearance from Puerto
Approach and Manila Control along RPVP-DABOY-W281-LEGED-N884-LUBAN-SBA-RPUF
at FL 210 with special VFR Clearance from DABOY to LEGED to perform Maritime Patrol over
Malampaya.

4. After the conduct of aerial photography on the vessels sighted in the vicinity of
Malampaya Platforms, the flight returned to the IFR Route direct from Malampaya to IFR Fix
LEGED at FL170. When the flight reached LEGED OOA 1600H, two (2) USN F18 aircraft were
observed flying on the left and right side of the AS-211 Flight. Hence, the AS-211 Flight tuned-
in at Guard Frequency 121.5 MHz to monitor the activity while continuing the IFR Navigation
Flight. While traversing the Airway N884 from LEGED to LUBAN, the AS-211 flight sighted
also an Aircraft Carrier beneath the flight path. With the knowledge of Balikatan Exercises
being conducted, the flight continued the with the planned route. At 10 Nm to LUBAN,
approximately 70 Nm from the Aircraft Carrier spotted, the two (2) USN F18 peeled off and
headed west without any unusual and aggressive maneuvers from both flights. Likewise, the
two (2) USN F18 are suspected to be not squaking any transponder code because they did not
appear on the AS-211 ADSB Flight Monitoring.
