“7 Poor Thinking Habits We Must Fix to Think More Clearly”


In the article “7 Poor Thinking Habits We Must Fix to Think More Critically”, its
thesis develops how poor thinking habits can produce adverse effects in every part
of our lives. The article uses a list of 7 habits, to develop this thesis. The first habit
named “Jumping to conclusions”; showing how “we act without fact”. The second
habit named “making assumptions”, showing how we tend to take a stand or
undecided opinion with a “lazy thinking”. The third habit named negative thinking,
considered the worst of the habits, shows how we start thinking about the lack and
limitation. The fourth habit named “loosing track of our purpose”, shows how we
lose the mindful and purposeful thinking that help us achieve goals. The fifth habit
named “Accepting False or Inaccurate Information”, shows we see or hear at face
value is that it doesn't encourage us ot think critically and analytically. The sixth
habit named “thinking one side-ly”, showing how we are seeing only one side of
an issue. The last habit named “Ignoring our own ignorance”, shows how the
human being pride is a problematic, preventing us of recognizing what we don’t
know. The article mentions we need to overcome these habits, by first recognizing
we are doing them; and then, preventing we repeat them, in order to fortify our
minds.

After reading and having a brief passage on the content of the article, I consider is
a powerful source of information that will help me improve and fortify my
thinking. Most of the society nowadays, suffer of these habits. Digitalization have
brought this type of poor thinking. I think this article help us to be conscious about
the contemporary problematic the world is living right now. The solution, as
mentioned in the article, is to reflect of our thinking process; on be conscious how
we are thinking before acting. We are rational being that need to have a fortified
thinking to achieve success in our life’s.

1. How can you use this information to assist you in improving your
critical thinking?
R/ This information helps me by giving me some advances I have been not
conscious of throughout my life. I think this information would help me by making
me more conscious about the poor thinking habits I had, and what actions I need to
take to strengthen them. Important information that would help me in the future.
2. Where are your strengths and weaknesses?
R/ After reading the article I found various strengths and weaknesses of my mind
and thinking habits. I think my strengths rely on; I have been applying various
methods of strong thinking without even noticing. Among those methods, I find
myself thinking positively, hearing other opinions, and not accepting inaccurate
information. Apart from this, I found a weakness in my thinking habits is that I’m
not applying all the techniques the article mentions to fortify my thinking. In the
future, I need to improve, by applying all the techniques mentioned. I will start
with not losing our purpose when thinking in our daily lives.
