3, METHODS OF COLLECTION AND DISCHARGE
3.1. Sever System
(1) Plant site
There are 3 sever system in K-3 plant site, a waste effluent
system for storm water, fire water and process water, a sanitary
sewer system and a chemical sewer system. The waste effluent
system shall be connected to the outfall structure located at
south west of the plant. The sanitary and chemical sewer system
shall be connected with the waste effluent system at the
connection pit Tocated near 3rd street (PE=3,789). The schene
of the sewer system shall be as shown on Attachment 1.
(2) Amnonfa storage tank area
3.2 Maste Effluent System
(1) Of1-contamtnated water
Storm water, fire water and process water in potential
‘ofl-contasinated area shall be collected by citch basins,
gutters and funnels and be discharged to the vaste effluent
system by gravity in underground piping.

discharging to the waste effluent system.
(2), Non oft-contaninated water
Storm water, fire water and other oft-treeLqecesD water from

3.3 Sanitary Sewer System
Sanitary waste water shall be collected to septic tanks and after
being treated at septic tanks, be discharged to the connection pit by
gravity in underground piping.
3.4 Chemfcal Sever System .
Chemical waste water shall be collected to a neutrélization pit
‘depending on the nature of the chemical substances contained in the
water. Neutralized water shall be discharged to the sanitary sever
system by gravity in underground piping.
LAYOUT OF SEWER AND DRAINAGE. SYSTENS
Location and depth of sewer and drainage systems shall te determined to
avoid interference with other underground facilities such as foundations,

Design shall be made on whichever is greater {n the below 2
In storm water case, design flow volune for sizing calculation
shall be based on 1.1 tines the sum of drain weter and storm
water, instead of taking head losses at manholes and bents.
In Firewater case, design flow volume shall he the sum of drain
water and Firewater.
Storm water and firewater shall not need to be conbined
simul taneously.
5.2 Basis of Hydraulic Design

(2). Sever piping
Minimum size of sewer piping shall be as ‘oTTows:

Earth cover where vehicles are expected to pass shall be
determined considering the imposed loads and the pipe
strength. Concrete encasenents or concrete slabs ‘ire also

‘The sewer velocity shall be a maxtoun 2.1 m/sec and 2
minimum 0.6 n/sec at the design flow volune. The minimum
velocity for ofly water drainage system stall be 0.4 m/sec
at the design flow volure.
The minimum pipe slope of a sanitary waste water drainage
system before treatment shall be 12.

6. DETAIL DESIGN REQUIREMENT

Water sealing shall be provided for of-contaminated water before

6.2 Manhotes

In process areas, where flamable vapors may be present and near
sources of ignitfon, manholes shall be vented to a safe

6.3 Collection of Mater
Catch basins
a. The maximum catchment area shall be 500 n° in paved areas

shall be as close to square as practicable,

than 4.08. The maximum difference of elevation between the
lowest and highest points shall be 20 cn.

before entering a manhole, as shown in Figure 3.

maintenance. The minimun internal size shall be not less

(4) Open ditch
Open ditches shall be shaped trapezoide.
The side slope of open ditch is 1.5 horizontal to
1 vertical.

6.4 Drainage from Tank Diked Area

(3) Tank drain
Tank drain shall be discharged to a catch basin in a diked area
‘in underground piping. Funnels shall be provided alongside the
tanks to collect the tank drain. The size of the pipes shall be
not Tess than 150 mm.
(4) design flow
When sizing drainage systens outside the diked area, the flow
from the diked area need not be considered in determining the
design flow volume. The valve is normaTly kept closed, and the
drainage water inside dike area shall be discharged to the
outside system by controlling the valve.
7. MATERIALS
7.1 Material Selection
Piping materfals shat be selected considering such factors as
corrosiveness of flow, soil conditions, imposed Toads and durabiTity.
Unless otherwise specified in Project Specification or approved by
Chiyoda, the following materials shall be used.

3.1 Sever System
(1) Plant site
There are 3 sewer system in K-3 plant site, a waste effluent
systen for storm water, fire water and process water, a sanitary
sewer system and a chemical sever system. The waste effluent
