Hatch covers have been examined and tested and found weather tight. Satisfactory
operations of mechanically operated hatch covers have been verified. Coamings,

stiffeners, stays, beams, fore and aft members, portable covers, tarpaulins, cleats,
battens, wedges and lashings have been examined and found satisfactory
Ventilators on freeboard and superstructure decks have been examined (including
6 their coamings, supports, deck connections and closing arrangements) and tested as
far as practicable and found in satisfactory condition
Air pipes on freeboard and superstructure decks have been examined including
their closing arrangements and tested as far as practicable and found in satisfactory
7 condition. Automatic closing arrangements, where fitted, have been examined and
found in satisfactory condition. Flame screens on air pipes at all fuel oil tanks are
satisfactory as far as could be seen.
Cargo and coaling ports in ship's sides and superstructure have been examined and

found in satisfactory condition.
Flush bunker scuttles and attachments, where fitted, have been examined and found

in satisfactory condition.
Scuppers, sanitary discharges and valves have been examined and found in
10
satisfactory condition.
Windows, side scuttles and deadlights on the ship's sides, superstructures and
11 deckhouses have been examined and tested as far as practicable and found in
satisfactory condition.
Freeing ports including their shutters and bars or rails have been examined and the
12 shutters operation verified and found satisfactory

Arrangements for protection of crew and access to crew’s quarters such as gang-
13 ways or under deck passageways, lifelines, walkways, bulwark and/or guard rails
examined and found in satisfactory condition.
For ships with special arrangements such as timber carriers (uprights, sockets,
lashings, guard rails and lifelines), tankers (safe access to tanker bows etc), Ro-Ro

vessels (bow, stern, side doors etc) and other special type ships, the condition of
