How to make a PDF format document:

First of all: What is a PDF document? -its short for Portable Document Format, it was created to allow people to share their documents the same way in various computers, even if they were originally made to be seen in programs most people dont have. Their readers are available for free for most computer systems (Mac, Windows, and Linux). We have two ways to create a PDF, but we are only going to talk about the free way, because the other is made from paid software, and has its own instructions with the respective program. In order to make a PDF for free, we have a two step process, developed by using a postscript file of the document, and the Ghostscript of Ghostview programs to convert it to a PDF file. In Windows, the best way to achieve this is by installing a postscript printer driver (even if you dont have a printer, because it is for the language the document file must be converted to. To install it, you must follow these simple steps: -Click on the start button, and go to control panel -Select Printers and other hardware and click on Add Printer -Follow the steps, without checking Automatically detect device -Set use to the following port: to File: and click next. -Select the manufacturer as the printer model -Click NO on the default question, and finish. To install Ghostscript and Ghostview, you should go to http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/ and install the latest versions. To make the postscript file, finally, you must use any program that allows you to print and make a document. Select the printer driver you installed, and print the document, saving it to something like document1.ps, if you have a problem viewing file extensions, go to

TOOLS FOLDER OPTIONS VIEW TAB FILE TYPES.

and uncheck HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR KNOWN

Finally, we are going to use Ghostview to convert to PDF, we can achieve this by double clicking the .ps file we want to have, and it should open in Ghostview. Then we will go to the menubar then file convert, and set the device to Pdfwrite and choose the highest resolution available. You wait and your pdf should appear where you set it to be saved in.
