Hoima Blind Women Association (HOBWA) profile

Hoima Blind Women Association (HOBWA) is a generic development group started way back in 2009
by the visually impaired women in Hoima District. It was formed to champion the plight of the visually
impaired women and girls particularly in the area of income generation, disability rights, leadership and
training. The association started with only five members all drawn from the then Hoima Municipality and
progressively increased in scope to a membership of 80 covering the sub counties of Buhimba,
Kigoroobya, Buhanika, Busisi and Bugambe.
Over the years, Hoima Blind Women Association has implemented pro-poor development programmes
intended to improve the welfare of the visually impaired women and girls in Hoima District with funding
