“DEVELOPING COMPREHENSION”
Insights or Realizations

The LAC session in the morning introduced a more complex idea on how a teacher
should instill in learners the love for reading. It gave us a refresher on how important
the motive questions are and the motivation itself before introducing a new story to
read.

The afternoon session stressed the nature and importance of reading comprehension, set
the purpose for comprehending text, formulate questions and plan a discussion
covering the various levels of comprehension, and designing activities that develop
reader response.

Lessons Learned

Developing reading comprehension is important for kids because it is a

fundamental skill that forms the basis for all other academic subjects.

Reading exposes children to a wide range of words and phrases,

expanding their vocabulary. The more they read, the more words they
encounter, which enhances their ability to understand and express
themselves in both spoken and written language.

Teachers play a big role in leading our learners to good reading habits
and improving their vocabulary and comprehension skills. Using
various strategies to cater to the different learning needs of our children
will bring positive results in reading.
