Defining Ethics and Morals:

1. Ethics: Ethics is the system of rules and the gaudiness of our behavior if its
right or wrong in a specific situation with professional acting.

2. Morals: Morals are our specific behavior and beliefs regarding if its right or
wrong.

3. Take a moment and write what is the type of the moral dilemma. Also write
down your justification on why you considered it that type.

Scenario:

In this scenario, a loved one has been placed in a special residential center, which
is expensive. Their children don’t have the funds to pay, but the loved one does.
Unfortunately, the only way to access those funds is to trick the loved one into
revealing their bank account information.

This moral dilemma highlights an important type of ethical dilemma, which is


obligation dilemma, where a person loses the trust and honesty of the loved one
just to feel responsible for the children funds.

4. Identifying Stages

Scenario: Mona recently witnessed another company employee taking food from
the vending machine without paying. She didn’t say anything, reasoning that
everyone does it at times and this person must be in need.

a. What is her Level of Development?

Second level, which is conventional morality.

She knew what is wrong and saw them, but she did not tell her boss and took it as
a normal act.
b. What her Decision at Level Three would be?

Level three which is post conventional morality, she would tell her boss or even
talk to the employees in person and tell them to pay.
