1. Explain why computer literacy is vital success in today world?

Computer literate is important as it open up more job opportunities, helps in staying up to date, it
is cheap way to communicate, it enhances professionalism, helps in better record keeping and
makes transaction more convenient.

2. Define the term computer and describe the r/ship between data and information?

Computer is electronic device that malleable information or data, it has the ability to store,
retrieve and process data. Data and information r/ship is data is collection of row fact such as
numbers symbols etc. and it is unorganized while information is structured and it collections of
meaningful fact such as survey report and results.

3. Describe the five components of computer

a. Input device is piece of equipment used to provide data and control signal to an information
processing system such as a computer or information appliance. Example; keyboard, mouse
scanner etc.
b. Output device is piece of computer hardware equipment which converts information into
human readable form such as text graphics and video. example ; plotters speakers , monitor
etc.
c. System unit is part of a computer that houses the primary device that performs operation and
produce result for complex calculation. it include motherboard , CPLI RAM etc.
d. Storage device is part of computer that used for storing data and instruction for future use
and referee; they have tow type which is primary memory [example ROM & RAM] and
secondary [example hard disk, CD-ROM etc.]
e. Communication device is type of hardware capable of transmitting data instructions and
information b/n sending device and receiving device .example Wi-Fi, network, Bluetooth
etc.

4. Discuss advantage and disadvantage that user experience when working with
computer

Advantage

 Increase your productivity

 Connect you to internet
 Can make you money
 Help you learn and keep us informed
 Get a better understanding of data

Disadvantage

 Potential of loss of privacy

 Too much sitting which cause health problem
 Time sink and lots of distraction

5. Define the term network and identify benefit of sharing resources on network
 Network is collection of computer, serves, mainframes .network device o other devices
connected to allow data sharing. Example internet.
 Benefit of sharing resource on network to work faster, safer, simple and smarter and
ultimately saving money and time.

6. Discuss the use of the internet and world wide web

Uses of internet are:

b. To discussion group
c. For Education and self-improvement
d. Research

7. Distinguish between System software and Application software

System software

 It is to manage computer basic operation

 It is to allow the computer to run application software
 It allows the user to interact with computer.

Application software

 It is designed to solve specific problem

 It is develop in high level language such as java, c++ etc.

8. Describe the use of computer in your department briefly

There is an assumption that psychiatric nurses are late adopters of technology b/c psychiatric
nursing has been traditionally viewed as no technological nursing specialty. This article will
review current nursing literature to outline the value and significance of computers and
information technology for psychic tic nursing are identified and specific advantages and
benefits of computer and information technologies in each of these areas are discussed. In
addition, the importance of informatics competencies for psychiatric nursing practice is reiterated
in order to accelerate its acquisition.

9. Explain home users, small office user, mobile users, and others each interact with
computer

Home user conduct research, take collage classes, pay bill, manage investments, shop, watch
moves, read books, file taxes etc.

Small office user access the internet often wirelessly to look up information such as; addresses
direction, postal, flights, package shipping rates or to send and receive e-mail messages ,make
telephone call

Mobile user accessing services such as e-mail and web, they can transfer information b/n their
mobile device and another computer and for entertainment

Enterprise user; to process high volume of transaction in single day, products or services of
fared, prepare payroll for thousands of employees web site showcases product, services and other
company information,; use blogs to open communication among employees and customers.

10. Discuss how society uses computers in education finance, government health care,
science publishing, travel and manufacturing

First in education, teachers use computer to record grades, calculate average, manage attendance
and access data on student performance in online program and assessment. And students also use
to see their grade, to do homework or assignment, to study induvial and group and to improve
their knowledge.

With the use of computer, key financial decision makers are able to send financial reports and
strategies instead of holding meeting. This system allows people in the finance sector to get
updates on world stock exchange and price change affecting their business.

Like businesses, government offices use computer. Government employees must set up meeting
and distributors various report. Computer uses in government office also include various e-mail
functions, payment distribution, record keeping and even coordinating mailing

Major uses of computers in medicine in include hospital information system, data analysis in
medicine, medical imaging laboratory computing, computer assisted medical decision making,
care of critically ill patient, computer assisted therapy and so on.

Computer is probably the biggest advice in scientific technology. They allow us to analyses far
quicker than in past. Scientists also use them to run simulations and build electronic model.

Computers are used in traveling for scheduling the railway &air flights. We can book our tickets
by using computer, we can determine any visit station in world by using internet at computer, by
using radar system we can easily control movement of airplanes.
