Why reading online is more used than reading
physical?

Summary

In this work an explanation is made about why digital books are currently more
used than physical books. Defining the great importance of reading for our social
and professional life. In addition to my experiences when selecting a reading
method and how, with the help of technological advances, my reading preference
for the digital method has come to incline over the physical method. Both options
are very good with their advantages and disadvantages, but we will come to the
recommendation that the future of digital reading is really promising. Finally, the
conclusions are proposed from my point of view and experiences in the world of
reading.
Introduction

A book is the gateway to knowledge, culture, knowledge. Reading books is a

fundamental process for the individual and collective development of any society.
Through reading, knowledge, skills and values can be transmitted that allow people
to grow personally and professionally, and contribute to the well-being and
progress of the community.

There are two worlds that many have had the opportunity to experience both, that
of physical reading and that of digital reading. When comparing these writing and
reading media, we find that each has its challenges, advantages, and
disadvantages. However, in society the supposed rivalry of the digital book is
better than the physical book, or vice versa, has been created. But do you know, if
there is so much rivalry between these two types of reading?

Digital books have been with us for a few decades, traditional printed books for
several centuries. This “confrontation” between two completely different worlds is
more to us than the evolution of a medium, which, namely, has always been
refining and transforming the ways in which we consume information. And
consume, which means wearing out, destroying, but also using and enjoying.

Therefore, it is important to analyze the relevance of digital vs. physical reading in

today's society and in the future.

In this essay, I will talk about the importance of digital and physical reading. In
addition to my experience in my professional preparation by selecting digital
reading and the way that made me self-taught in the digital world.
Development

Reading is a communication habit that allows the development of cognitive and

interactive thoughts of any reader, reading allows the easy construction of new
knowledge. It helps the development and improvement of language. It improves
oral and written expression and makes the language more fluent. It gives the
facility to expose one's own thought and enables the ability to think. Enhances the
capacity for observation, attention and concentration. We must teach students the
importance of reading (IPAC, 2017).

Reading is one of the most important and useful activities that people do
throughout their lives. First, reading, like all other intellectual activities, is the
exclusive activity of human beings and the only creature capable of developing
highly intelligent and rational systems. However, in the 21st century, with the
advent of technology, there are virtual books or virtual texts that you find on web
pages, apps, etc. (SCRIBD, 2022).

I have been able to experience these two worlds, physical and digital. In my
experience of the physical world, it is a unique source of study, but the libraries did
not have a great variety of books, access was restricted, information was scarce,
and other disadvantages, but this does not detract from this source of information.
Physical reading can sometimes provide much more than digital books, but
nowadays books are not so appetizing, publishers have increased the price to
obtain one, almost no one uses or searches for them anymore.

I prefer digital reading because I am always working on my laptop, I have a variety

of pages to search for a lot of information, I work simultaneously reading and
writing, it is faster to understand ideas and knowledge, in addition to the brevity
with which the information is obtained, it makes my life easier.

In this, reading has been summarized since due to the advancement of technology
it has modified many habits and preferences for reading. Technology makes life
easier, but only if we manage to use it properly.
The current Society is all the time connected to the internet, and involuntarily
people start their new habits of digital reading. Could you tell me, who doesn’t use
social networks to communicate something? Could you tell me why children
already know how to use electronic devices and not physical books?

Digital reading is important in my professional life since to be able to opt for a Job,
the main requirement is to master electronic devices, and this leads to spending all
the time reading books, documents, digital articles.
Conclusion

Regardless of the differences, print and digital books maintain broad similarities.
Above all, among the advantages of reading are the effective management of
stress, the improvement of the cultural level or emotional intelligence.

The digital book represents a logical evolution of the paper format as a result of
technological advances.

When it comes to physical vs. digital books, the key to choosing the best format is,
after all, staying informed about the qualities of each one and deciding according to
what best suits your preferences at any given time.

In conclusion, reading, whether digital or physical, is a fundamental tool for the

individual and collective development of any society. Through which people can
acquire knowledge, skills and values that allow them to grow personally and
professionally, contribute to the well-being and progress of the community, and
access a fuller and more satisfactory life.

Therefore, it is important to invest in reading either type on a continuous and

sustainable basis, to ensure that everyone has access to the opportunities and
benefits that education provides. Only then can we build a more just, equitable and
prosperous society.
