Case Study: ABC Company's Supply Chain Problem

ABC Company is a leading quick commerce player that sells a variety of products through its dark stores.
The company has recently been facing challenges in its supply chain that have resulted in stockouts.

Data:
1. Please refer to the EXCEL sheet
a. ITEM Master: This sheet indicates all the products (there corresponding suppliers &
categories) that we would like to stock in our stores
b. PURCHASE DATA: This shows how many times each item was purchased, the ordered
quantities and the delivered quantities. (hint: the count of purchase order numbers, is the
number of times that item was ordered)
c. Sales, Stocks, FA & OOS % - This sheet shows the Sales, Stocks (average stock over past 30
days), Forecast Accuracy & Out-of-Stock rate of each product over the last 30 days.

Task:
The candidate is expected to propose solutions by identifying the root-cause of the stock-outs &
suggesting improvements. Please answer the below questions:

Expectations:
1. Run a RCA (root-cause analysis) on why items are running out of stock (hint: if an item does not
have a corresponding purchase order number, means it was never ordered)
2. Calculate the fill-rate of suppliers, showing their monthly progression
3. Which categories suffer from the lowest fill-rates?
4. Calculate the the days-on-hand inventory by category
5. Provide a recommendation on how to reduce stock-outs
