Just want to make a FYI for many of the new folks that have joined lately.

Seems to be a lot of misconception out there so let’s clear it up.

There’s no fast track to getting your love one here. Unless you have a darn good humanitarian or
emergency an expedite is not going to happen at USCIS or NVC.

So let’s talk about just regular processing that the majority of people will experience.

There is 3 stages of this journey. I am only going to discuss filing for husband or wife.

1. You file your I-130 online $535 (it’s best)

2. Depending on your service center processing it can be 6 months to usually 12 months to get
adjudicated and approved.

3. Once petition is approved you are sent to NVC for further processing. While at USCIS you should be
studying the NVC process to get all your documents together and know fees and what is expected of
you.

4. Expect welcome letter from NVC within hours to a few days. This letter will have your case# and IIN so
you can log in to your account

5. Pay your IV fee($325) and AOS fee ($120)

6. Within a few days fees should say PAID. Now you can progress

7. Complete DS-260 which is the IV Application fee

8. Upload civil documents for beneficiary

9. Upload AOS documents

10. Once you have uploaded and submitted all required documents you wait. The time to get to review
is a 3 month wait.

11. Once reviewed and everything is ACCEPTED. You are then DQ’d which is Documentarily Qualified
and put in the Interview queue for the embassy.

12. Currently it’s as 12 to 14 month wait.

Stage 1 -USCIS-6 to 12months

Stage 2-NVC from Welcome Letter to DQ expect 4 to 6 months if no issues

Stage 3-DQ-waiting on Interview is 12 to 14 months currently.

Interview letters for those DQ’d since NOV/DEC 2020 just went out this morning January 17th, 2022

Oh and yes the wait is just as long for K1. No longer is K1 faster. And most times now the worst choice
because of the delays and the risk of denial and no appeal is available to K1's.
