JINGLE BELLS

-by James Lord Pierpont.

Jingle bells, written by James Lord
Pierpont in 1850 in medford,
Massachusetts. Originally it was
called One Horse Open Sleigh and
the song was not about christmas
at all. It was a jaunty melody
written for the american holiday of
thanksgiving.
It was initially a drinking song. It
originally wasn't meant to engage
young audiences at all as it was not
family friendly. The instrumentals
where originally a little more
complicated. The song we listen to
today has more simplified chords.
Today, Jingle Bells is one of the
most famous christmas carols in
the world. It was the first song to be
performed in space by 2 germany
six astronauts who played the song
with a harmonica and a sleigh bell.
These songs have been famously
adapted in movies and shows and
parodies like “jingle bells batman
smells” and more.

Original Song Modern Song

Dashing through the snow, Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh. In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go, O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way. Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tail ring, Bells on bobtails ring
Making spirits bright. Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight! A sleighing song tonight
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way. Jingle all the way
Oh! What fun it is to ride Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh hey! In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way. Jingle all the way
Oh! What fun it is to ride Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh! In a one horse open sleigh
A day or two ago, A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride. I thought I'd take a ride
And soon, Miss Fanny Bright, And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side. Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank, The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot. Misfortune seemed his lot
He got into a drifted bank We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot. And then we got upsot
In a one horse open sleigh yeah
A day or two ago, Dashing through the snow
The story I must tell. In a one horse open sleigh
I went out on the snow O'er the fields we go
And on my back I fell. Laughing all the way
A gent was riding by, Bells on bob tails ring
In a one-horse open sleigh. Making spirits bright
He laughed as there I sprawling lie, What fun it is to laugh and sing
But quickly drove away. A sleighing song tonight
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way. Jingle all the way
Oh! What fun it is to ride Oh, what fun it is to ride
Now the ground is white,
Go it while you're young.
Take the girls tonight
And sing this sleighing song.
Just get a bobtailed bay,
Two forty as his speed.
Hitch him to an open sleigh
And crack! You'll take the lead.
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way.
Oh! What fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way.
Oh! What fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh!
