OF LITERARY CRITICISM
WHAT IS LITERARY CRITICISM?
This is a term that we define as the act or process of interpreting
and evaluating the author and their work, it applies to any
argument about literature; this includes short stories, novels,
essays, plays, and poetry.

When we say “criticism” it does not particularly mean negative but a


thorough analysis of the author’s piece, style, and context.

Literary criticism also contains brief summaries and recommendations


from the general public.

For students, an introduction should start with literary works, authors,


and critical perspectives, without presenting original criticism to be able
to stimulate their critical analysis of the texts.
Sociological criticism:
Examines the social content of a literary work—

piece.

Reader-response criticism:

LITERARY Describes a scene in the reader’s mind while


interpreting a text. This includes the own ideas or
values of the reader.
