Product Evaluation

In this assignment, you are going to find everyday things in your area by doing a keen observation of the
things around you. Start looking at things around you, your window, your doors, frames, the gadget you are
using, some appliances and furniture’s at your home. Try to evaluate the item by using them and examining
them. Find out its key features and how it works. Is it usable? Is it desirable or is it useful? Did you find it
desirable? This assignment will train your skills in conducting product evaluation. The questions above are
a starting point; you should think of additional questions you can ask yourself to gain deeper insight on
how you can evaluate the product.

Step 1. Develop an evaluation guide to be use during the actual evaluation. It must include question that
will fall under the six criteria comprises of affordances, consistency, constraints, visibility, mapping, and
feedback.

Step 2. Find 2 objects that is available in your area. One (1) that you believe is a bad design and another
one (1) that you believe is a good design.
Step 3. Examine the objects by using it. Evaluate the objects using the following criteria: affordances,
consistency, constraints, visibility, mapping, and feedback (use your evaluation guide).

Step 4. Revisit your notes from the evaluation result: type them up and expand upon them with additional
insights and thoughts, as described in the readings and lessons in chapter

1. Your notes should highlight your analytical reflections on what you’ve experience in using the object.

1. Completed report of the results of your product evaluation activity (see Individual Assignment
#1_answr_sheet)
