1. Description of Design
The final iteration of our design closely resembles the previous theoretical interpretations of the design,
except the subassemblies were somewhat rearranged. The gearbox was still built in the corner of the
peg board, to give a clear view of the vials. Once it was constructed, a box was placed over the gears to
protect it from the outside interference of the powder and liquid dispensers. The powder dispenser is
next to the gearbox, and it holds a funnel that is suspended above the servo motor, which is coded to
turn 180 degrees when the IR sensor senses a vial passing by. The water dispenser is also next to the
gearbox, and it consists of a water bottle with two holes poked in it for the peristaltic pump. One side of
the pump pulls in the water, and the other side is connected to the tube that dispenses it into the vials.
The electronic box contains the wires, Arduino, motor shield, and breadboard, and it is placed in
between the water dispenser and the powder dispenser. The IR sensor is attached to the water
dispenser in front of the gearbox, positioned to sense the vials to indicate when the powder and water
should be dispensing.
