This presentation accompanies the Year 4 Reading Assessment Term 2 Non-Fiction Paper text, ‘Cats’,
which is part of the Year 4 Term 2 Reading Assessment.

Purpose of the Presentation

The lesson presentation is designed to be useful in more than one possible way.
Either as:
• A guided task, working with children on improving reading comprehension skills.
• As a review task after children have completed the test independently.
There is the potential to use the presentation to guide self/peer marking, involving children in a discussion
of what constitutes an understanding of the text.
In each case, the presentation is designed to be a prompt for teacher-led discussion of the text, questions
and possible answers.
The teacher’s discretion should be used when judging whether a mark should be awarded.

reading content domain.
